Federal law enforcement sources tell FOX News that an officer confronted the gunman and then retreated.

TV news is days behind up to the second information online...as usual. According to sources online, apparently the officer you're referring to climbed the ladder to confront the shooter then fell off the ladder in retreat as soon as the shooter turned his weapon toward the officer. The problem with up to the second information is that is wasn't confirmed at the time. But this information is a day old already at least.

I have been through the process of secret service and security detail in meeting a former president a few years ago. The paremeter was so secure I was not allowed to stop walking to wait for my friend who was getting a picture just after me, the secret service was all over me to keep walking and I had a wall between me and that former president. The way security detail was for DJT on that day was I fear intentionally lacking. Not only should she step down from her position she should be held liable for not providing the additional security requested as well as adequate security. The parameter was smaller than I experienced as well. Something was not right here.
I wonder if there are 911 recorded calls. Several witnesses saw this man setting up on the roof. Surely, they called the cops. Also, this was completely overlooked - as if the people in charged were completely clueless. From the cops who “allegedly” approached the shooter, down to the secret service who were supposed to protect yet can be seen scrambling (mostly the women), not knowing where to place her gun. What is going on?

That was not very informative and I'm confused by a local local news station from Phoenix covering something that happened in Pennsylvania.
Implausible levels of incompetence.
How do they know all these details, but are they saying an AR style rifle instead of actually stating what it was. Scare tactics.

Bad reporting. She stirred and muddled the timeline. She _almost said_ said that law enforcement knew the guy was on the roof for many minutes, perhaps 30 minutes. Nope, other sources clearly demonstrate that he wasn't up there that long. That's a big error. About 30 minutes before the shooting, the guy was noted by law enforcement to be behaving oddly at the magnetometers. That's not the same as seeing a suspected shooter, He was noticed, not recognized as threatening.
