40 yrs after I listened to one of my favourite live albums of all time over and over again (when 16-17 yrs old), listening to it by ear only and trying to play along with it on a cheap Gibson SG imitation without any lesson, footage or notes... and now (just surfing on a Saturday afternoon) I ran into this cover of "Who Knows" on RUclips. Wòw... if I only would have had this cover/lesson played straight before my eyes back then! Well done, Alex. Great job.
Fantastic! My favourite Hendrix number, probably because it's the first one I heard on a kick-ass stereo. I once heard a great band in Ireland with a sax in the lineup cover it; sublime!
Amazingly accurate. The only thing missing is that weird homemade footpedal that J used, but that's understandable. It was sort of like a ring modulator.
man I closed my eyes and I thought JIMI came down from the skies to play for all of US .kept my eyes closed till it was over wishing it wouldn't end but it did.WOW this guy nailed to the T.closes sound to song if not right on perfect favorite band b.o.g keep playing post more JIMI tunes ✌✌✌✌✌🇺🇸
Came back here today to see one more time! I already have this song memorized, so I'm enjoying how inspired Hendrix is! Your solos have a beginning, development and end. They take us on a wonderful trip and you give us this gift that is to show the "secrets" of Hendrix. Thank you very much!
C est sympa d avoir donné le meilleur de toi mème : ont voit bien et ont entend bien que tu aime :jimi Hendrix comme moi dans l au-dela ! Thanks my Friends
No doubt. The guitar draws one into a corner. But Jimi is deeply screwed into the guitar. Deep insight and dedication. Knows how to write every inch of a piece. And his touch is highly distinguished. Probably the most feel in his hands of anyone
You could spend several lifetimes trying to duplicate that pinch-harmonic solo, but not even Jimi did that. He flowed free over his framework. If you've heard the 2nd show from that night, you'll have a whole lot of other phrases to unravel. Still, amazing guitarin' there
not too shabby. Very nice. I think you should know that Hendrix tuned down full step on both Machine Gun and who knows. another thing that is funny is that when Buddy miles starts adlibbing they don't know what I know, it was because Hendrix broke a string. don't think I am dissing your fine work here. but He tuned down one full step for both songs. you can hear the overall heaviness of the lower tuning as a result on both Machine Gun and Who Knows. Tony iommi took it a whole step and a half tuning to C#, which Hendrix had done with the 12 string acoustic Hear my train a coming's, but he got the idea from who knows and especially machine Gun tuned down a whole step to the key of D.
I dont understand I dont get it hes playing the pentatonic scale the whole time yet I cant figure out the notes hes hitting for the life of me even tho I can play the pentatonic in my sleep
It sounds like ponch harmonics in the second solo. Is that what youre doing or do you have some kind of pedal to make it sound like that? Maybe a fuzz pedal idk
I know this is dated a bit, but Alex using an Octavia/Octavio for the effect, like Hendrix. As in the name, it boosts the notes an octave whilst still reminiscing of the original note. The pedal comes in additional fuzz. When he was in Fillmore East, he used a Dunlop 69, however he still used his traditional Dunlop Fuzz Face. If you're wondering what songs Hendrix has used it on, I'd recommend "Crash Landing" and "Jimmy/Jimi Jam", however he did use the Roger Mayer one that was used for the Axis: Bold As Love sessions.
This is what the Stratocaster was built for!! Wonderful job, subscribed! :) Can't wait to hear more from you! It would be nice if you listened to my vocal covers too, I'll be glad to hear did you like them! Have a great day!
Actually Leo Fender was going for versatile, and ergonomic, and that it is. There's no way he could have imagined what Jimi made it do. Sometimes neither could Jimi.
Imagine creating this solo instead of recreating it. incredible stream of consciousness .Amazing yu were able to do this from memory ...
Damn dude. That's about as close as you can get to perfect
One of my all time favorite songs. Fantastic groove!
Jimi Hendrix is the Best. Just listen to those fills.
Yes and No, Robin trower is 74 and still going strong! but love me some Jimi
Marc Rosen nearly everything Robin has, he gleaned from Jimi.
Man, your taste in music is amazing. Love your content. This whole album is dope.
THAT TONE THO! Spot on!! Sublime playing as well
Great job Sir. Jimi Hendrix is my favorite of all time. I've been listening to him since the 1960's...
Soy definitivamente fanático de esta interpretación y admirador del talento de este intérprete. En un maestro total...
Amazing!
Even more amazing: for Hendrix this was a jam. He improvised this.
That tone!
Absolute perfection, it sounds identical to the Band of Gypsys live show.
Wow, great job.👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
That tone is just killer !!!
Brilliant - that entire guitar piece is an all time favorite. Thanks for putting it out there.

That's note perfect 😳 and the tone... Brilliant stuff
Someone:Hey,what song you’re playing?
Jimi:who knows
Someone:I’m just asking

Damn! Nailed jimi's tone perfectly. the playing is spot on too.
Thanks for sharing this stuff. The Jimi content especially. So fun to jam with.
My-Oh- MY I really needed that(& I was feelin' good already).!
Amazingly accurate. The only thing missing is that weird homemade footpedal that J used, but that's understandable. It was sort of like a ring modulator.
GD bless you for showing straight, no bs.
That octafuzz riffing at the end was nice.
Again, thanks so much for learning and posting this. Really appreciate your time and talent.
Blows my mind!
Brilliant rendition !!

Note for note you aced it! Amazing
Wow! Now you reminded me how good this is... put this my head, and gotta learn it. Long way off or never gonna play it this well though.
It's not that hard once you get to jimi's groove, but no one will ever play it like him
Great playing and incredible tone. Nice job man
Beautiful man! Note for note!

Great Strat tone for the song. The riffs overall put me right in the seat at the Fillmore Theatre in New Years eve 69/70! Great cover man! 🇨🇦🎸👌
Hendrix le génie 👏👏👏👍👍👍😊
Best cover of WHO KNOWS I ever heard!
C est sympa d avoir donné le meilleur de toi mème : ont voit bien et ont entend bien que tu aime :jimi Hendrix comme moi dans l au-dela ! Thanks my Friends
Job well done ,Mister!!
this is just divine
That was so great! So true to form! You did this track an horror and a service to all guitar players alike. Thank you
Amazing work! And I'm especially pleased with the lack of cheese in the backing track.
Fantastic! what an amazing learning experience! Thank you for sharing! I love this song!
This is awesome! Jimi would be proud, sir.
Simplemente magnifico. Es una pena que no se mencione el nombre de quien toca. 💓
Wow brother! Pretty dang accurate! Thank u
Awesome!
That’s was nice, great job !!..great tune !
Amazing, you nailed it, wonderful done.
Well done!
Spectacular
Great study for music school but we will wait for the return 🙋
Haha you included the string breaking in your sound. That was clever !
great stuff...............
Thanks my Friends ! This is wonderful
Phenomenal man.
What a fucking pleasure to listen to. Thanks so much man
Excelente trabajo. Felicitaciones
Ohh yea amazing.
Fantastique Alex you are the best
His time with Band of Gysies was my favorite. I really like the live album this is from. You do very well in copying.
Excellent !
excellent
Simple things can make great song. I mean, that's Pentatonic Blues, and all the guitar part is built around that.
JH was a great composer.
No doubt. The guitar draws one into a corner. But Jimi is deeply screwed into the guitar. Deep insight and dedication. Knows how to write every inch of a piece. And his touch is highly distinguished. Probably the most feel in his hands of anyone
Wow. Very accurate
Really great
great job man
Its amazing the song sounds so complicated, He just did A whole lot with very little. Where did you get the backing track?
Holy shit that’s badass
Bravo
Great!

How you can do to memorize all notes ?
Klimt Art its really easy
Klimt Art repetition till it becomes natural
Repetition then you throw your soul in the mix with a touch of wah

He is using the Dorian scale
Then you should sell your guitar ! It's really very simple - you either got it or you don't !

Yes!! I would like to know it too! Thanks for answering!

@@keepongroovin7567 Sorry to say but crash landing and jimi Jam's is not that good compared to who knows and machine gun.

Very good. Was u also mimicking the string snapping from the solo? Cause it sounded like it :-)
Jimi himself said people would try so hard to mimic him they copied his mistakes(he was critisizing this)
I don't know how you could sit there motionless and that shake like a jellyfish
And not shake like a jellyfish
素晴らしい😊😂
Machine gun please!!!
How do you get that pick overtone at the beginning? It's kind of cool.
this is my gym song
There it is -- psychedelic blues.
@ Guitar Force. What year Strat is that. I like that head stock on it. I have same color Strat but different head stock.
That's a 2006 Strat
