Gosh, I didn't know that... this song never ages, being the artistic masterpiece it is. I'm glad you enjoyed the video - thank you so much for your comment 🙂
👍it's impressive nevertheless that this song is still recognised and enjoyed 30 years after it came out, at a time when it was unusual for Spanish artists to reach foreign markets. thank you so much commenting 😀 i hope u will find other videos to your liking in our channel 🙂
do you mean that La Bamba was the first Spanish hit on the charts instead of Eres Tu? it's possible, I'd have to do so some research, but you will agree that la Bamba was more of a dancy, fun song. With due respect to its creator, I think the two songs are in very different leagues, don't you agree?
in Spain we always admired it as a romantic song. but many have noted that the lyrics could equally apply to the love of God. I don't think Mocedades ever clarified it. either way, the song is beautiful... thank you very much for your comment, Carlos 🙂
I have always loved this song. Just heard in on our local oldies station and had to look it up and send it to a special someone. So glad the lyrics were given in English.
Dear Rhoda, I'm sure that your special someone will be delighted to receive this beautiful melody from you! May you both enjoy many good times together to the tune of music as powerful as this timeless classic. And thank you very much for sharing!
more like 50 years, actually! but to many of us it doesn't feel that long ago 🙂 ... thank you very much for watching the video and sharing your comments!
Heartfelt thanks for leaving such an expressive comment!!! I consider "Eres Tu" a remnant from a time when music and so many other aspects of life were "simple and profound" at the same time, as you put it. Our present times are fast-paced and exciting, but Amaya's voice always brings on a feeling of nostalgia for a time gone-by that somewhow seemed more authentic... thank you very much for visiting - I hope you will pop by again soon!
@@foreverlalala You are certainly most welcome. I possess an idea that the spirits of our magnificent composers from centuries ago are absorbed by very special people of today. The transference of musical sounds is aligned to writers then to the singers. The note arrangements are formed to mystify the present-day listener. However, there are particular special ensembles that capture the sound with genuine grace like Amaya's & Mocedades "Eres Tu".
That's a very interesting proposition!!! I"ve heard about cases of very young children who seem to display an extraordinary artistic sensibilty, as to suggest a possible instance of reincarnation... ? I see it more as whole creations that lie dormant somewhere in the ether, waiting for an artist talented (or hard-working) enough to be able to bring that work of art into existence. and who knows... all three hypotheses might be possible ... 🤔😀
@@foreverlalala Oh my goodness. I like your proposition very much. Your ideas give me incentive to activate latent dreams I have suppressed. I hear suggestions that our ancestors are always available to help us prosper. And why not? Years back, I witnessed an interview of Holland, Dozier & Holland of MOTOWN. They unanimously concurred their plethora of talents were channeled from the spirits of the Heavens. I am able to grasp that meaning now.
if you have latent dreams, then by all means act on them!! 😃 and if they can be showcased online, come back and tell us about them!!😉 as for our ancestors, I have the greatest respect for them, but... shouldn't we just let them enjoy their peace wherever they are? if the afterlife is anything like I dreamt of once, the ladies will be sitting around a table playing cards in a beautiful marble building surrounded by gardens.🌻🌼🌷🌼🌻🌿🙂
Thank you very much, David!! I'm delighted by your comment, because that was exactly the intention of this video. I'm very glad you liked it - many thanks for sharing your reaction!
Hi Tricia! I didn't realise that the Eurovision festival had been broadcast in the US via PBS since the 1970s... Mocedades has gone through many different members thoughout the years. At its origin, the group was formed by the Uranga siblings, who were later joined by the Blanco brothers and another friend (Javer Garay) to form the original Mocedades. Soon after Estibaliz married one of the Blanco brothers and they became the famous music duet "Sergio y Estibaliz". Indeed those decades yielded some of the greatest voices in Spanish popular music. Many thanks for watching the video and leaving your comment!
I was something like 10 year's old when this song came out. Loved it then even though l had no idea what they were saying or what the lyrics meant! Now l'm 65 years old and still love this song!

I have learnt from other commentators that it was well known at the time in the US.. which also surprised me. Thank you for leaving such a kind comment!!!🧡 I'm both flattered and delighted that you liked the translation. I'm always amazed at the effect that this song has had on those of us who were fortunate enough to grow up in the wonderful 70s... There's definitely something about this song that speaks to the soul, even after all these years, and even in countries so far apart... probably because of the unique combination of Amaya's beautiful voice, the lyrics, the melody, the arrangements, the fact that they were all family and close friends... this song is a real gift. hi Mark, I'm delighted that now you appreciate the song even more. I wonder if maybe your parents (or grandparents) sang along to this song in Spanish (from your surname I infer you are of Spanish or Hispanic descent). If so, now you have another good reason to learn Spanish 🙂 Everything about it is beautiful: the words, the melody, and of course Amaya's exceptional voice. I agree, Scott; this song is an instant flashback to the 1970s. What I hadn't realised is how well this song was known back then also outside Europe. It's amazing how Amaya Uranga's alluring voice has left such a deep impression on a whole generation from so many different countries. Amaya is a joy to listen to; she's easily Spain's best living female vocalist. Thank you very much for sharing your comment, and I hope you'll visit again soon.

Thank you for your version. But allow me to disagree on the liberties taken in translating. In the original, the lyrics are more raw, making for less elaborated poetry. The feeling of the song is that the singer is trying to find the right words throughout the whole song. That why she ponders: Algo así como..., something like... Como una mañana de verano (like a summer morning, not "the magic of sunrise in the Summer). Como una sonrisa (like a smile, not "a hug when you're smiling). I get that the translation makes the metric singable in English because it's sometimes impossible to do that if you don't take liberties. Having said that, your version if far better than the "Touch the wind" version!
Good evening Alberto, I appreciate your comments - thank you! My main approach to song translation is to fit the metrics exactly whilst conveying the mood and imagery of the original, and these constraints often require the exercise of a certain degree of artistic license, as you point out in your comment. "Touch the Wind" is a very moving song, but I wonder if it was really meant as an English version of the original "Eres Tú"; I find it sounds like a different song altogether. In any case, thank you very much for viewing the video and sharing your thoughts on the translation - I'm glad you liked it!
@@foreverlalala No not in the States. I'm from Belgium and was in my first year in junior high when that song became famous after the Eurovision song contest. By the time I went to parties, when I turned 16, that song was so famous it was played at almost every party during the part we call here 'the slow'. That is, time do grab or ask a girl to dance with you and you barely move. You just hold each other and move in place for 3 to 4 songs. .... That happened, and still happens, at student parties, office parties, weddings even neighbourhood parties. Basically any place there is a party. That song was played at least once at any party.

Good morning Det, thank for your comment. Touch the Wind was the English version released by the band. The tune is the same but the lyrics are different, as is often the case when a song is released in a different language. I found the inspiration to create a song in English that reflected the original story in Eres Tu. Needless to say, Touch the Wind came out as a beautiful and moving song, but I thought that there could also be space for a translation/adaptation such as this one 🙂 . I did a similar thing for a song by Robbie Williams also on my channel. Angels was released also in Spanish but the song is not quite a translation of the.original, which mine is. Please write back if you have any other questions. And again thank you for commenting.

Touch the Wind lyrics I woke up this morning and my mind fell away And looking back sadly from tomorrow As I heard an echo from the past softly say Come back, come back, won't you stay? I wanted to reach you, let you know I still care (I still care) And lost in the silence of my sorrow I put a promise in the wind, on the air To fly away to you there Touch the wind Catch my love as it goes sailing Touch the wind and I'll be close to you (Touch the wind) I'll be easy to find (Catch my love as it goes sailing) On the winds of the morning I'll come sailing (Touch the wind) I'll be easy to find (And I'll be close to you) Baby, I'll be close to you And only forever can I say I love you And only forever have I lost you But only a dreamer could wake up as I do And hope it's still yesterday (Nananana...) (Nananana... na...) Touch the wind Catch my love as it goes sailing Touch the wind and i'll be close to you (Touch the wind) I'll be easy to find (Catch my love as it goes sailing) On the winds of the morning I'll come sailing (Touch the wind) I'll be easy to find (And I'll be close to you) Baby, I'll be close to you Touch the wind lyricstranslate.com/en/mocedades-touch-wind-lyrics.html

@@MarkB.-mo3lz hi Mark! thank you for commenting... well, that is one of the lines I translated verbatim, because it matched the music and because personally I thought it was worth leaving just as it is sung in Spanish. It's a very poetic song, and the images are taken from rural life. I think the lyrics are written from the point of view of a young girl who leads a simple life in a village in the Basque region, and that is why the words refer to the basic things in life, such as the very flour she uses to bake their bread every day. But if you find a better way of phrasing that line, please come back to me. hi Isabella... thank you for your comment. I intended this as an English version that could sound as close to the original as possible when sung. But I realise many visitors prefer to get a precise translation rather than a singeable version in their own language. so in more recent videos I am accommodating to that 😊. In case you're interested, you can see some examples in one of my more recent videos (Made you look) or in my latest short (Beautiful Things). Either way, I thank you for viewing the video and sharing your opinion🙂
I'm a little skeptical of some of the tramslation: this is a profound song with deeply moving lyrics. I question whether the author would use phrases such as "more or less" or "a bit like". I have seen other translations interpret the lyrics somewhat differently.
Hi Andrew, thank you for your comment. The original words are profound but in no way formal. I used the phrase "more or less" because if sung in English it matches the original sound, and it conveys the meaning of the Spanish phrase "algo asi como...". Please let me know if you have a better alternative.
Hi Vasilica! You seem to comment that this song is a beautiful and unique hymn to love, and I totally agree with you. (Google Translate was very useful in identifying your language, and even though Romanian and Spanish both have a Latin origin, I would have never guessed the meaning of the word "dragostei"! ) Thank you very much for visiting and commenting!
Hi Kings Slayer! I'd never heard of the film, but since you mentioned it I looked it up and saw a scene where two characters are singing along (in Spanish!) to the Eres Tu song blasting from their car radio as they drive along the motorway towards the sunset. I wonder why singing whilst driving generates such a vibrant sense of delight, even when you're just watching others enjoy those activities, like the scene you're referring to.
More or less that is you' sino Something like you.

What a kitschy translation! Even my basic Spanish allowed me to see that the flowery sentimentality of this translation is way different than the simple words of this song, searching to compare a loved one to common place, but meaningful aspects in the life of the lover. None of these gushy common place sentimental commercial lyrics, designed to be considered "beautiful" & "touching" by those weaned on commercialism.

La bamba?
do you mean that La Bamba was the first Spanish hit on the charts instead of Eres Tu? it's possible, I'd have to do so some research, but you will agree that la Bamba was more of a dancy, fun song. With due respect to its creator, I think the two songs are in very different leagues, don't you agree?
Beautiful song and the words are dedicated to God

Truly one of the finest pieces of music from the modern-day era of popular culture. Absolutely delightful. The lyrics are simple and profound.

I watched Eurovision 1973 on PBS in junior high school was fell in love with this song. I think the group was a group of college students in Spain.

Dear Radiodf, thank you very much for commenting... I'm delighted you enjoyed the lyrics! Who knows if that girl still remembers you after all these years the same way that you do. I'm always amazed by how certain feelings are kept alive in our hearts after many many years...
Best love song
Indeed one of the most beautiful love songs in Spanish... thank you for your comment!
I'm grateful for the English translation of the actual words. I've listened to "Touch the Wind" which is the same tune but different words--I think this is better.
I'm delighted you enjoyed these English lyrics! ⚘They are closely based on the song's original Spanish words, while Touch the Wind is a totally different song, with the same music but different words - still beautiful, of course. Yet we thought it was worth coming up with a version that could be sung along in English and evoke the spirit of the original. Thank you from the bottom of my ❤ for your support ☺⚘
Beautiful x

Great song I know this song from the 70s but never understood its meaning still I saw the words in English
Thank you Wolfman!! Now you can enjoy the song even more 😉 Many thanks for your visit and for leaving such a lovely comment. Greetings from Barcelona!
YEAH I ALAWAYS LOVED THIS SONG JUST NEVER KNEW WHAT WORDS IN SPANISH WERE WHEN I translated I was moved and amazed on words of the song . Great Song Master Piece
@@davemanieri2402 this song is most definitely a universal masterpiece!!!❤❤ I'm working on another wonderful song by Mocedeades that is less known - hopefully I will get that ready soon, so please pop by again soon. And if you're in the mood, you might find other Spanish songs on my channel that were less well known outside of Spain but equally beautiful. Incidentally, are you in the US?
Now and forever It is You
that line would have matched the translation perfectly!! thank you, Joan, it's a lovely suggestion!
It's nice to be able to pick up a little of another language via song lyrics. Unfortunately, there were not many hits here in the USA that were not already translated. The English lyrics here are a particularly graceful translation and I like this version of the music better than the original; it has a little more kick. Thanks for posting!
¡¡¡muchisimas gracias a ti❤!!! I'm delighted you liked this singable translation 😃. Indeed, singing is probably the most enjoyable way of learning and practising another language.

Hi Joshua!! it has been classified by many experts as the best song in Spanish of the 20th century. So it's definitely not the typical Summer hit with any old filler lyrics. But hey, now you can sing along in English if you want to😄!! Singing is probably the best bit about driving, don't you think? I'm working on another video that you will probably recognise and like, so I hope you visit again soon. Thanks for watching!
A very free translation
Translating a song can be quite challenging. Thank you for sharing your comment.
The band released an english version on the flip side of the 45.
These lyrics are completely different.
Why?
Who cares the translation it's a beautiful song.
yes, absolutely beautiful song! But if someone wanted to sing the song in English with lyrics that match the original meaning and singing, now they can 😃. There are many music lovers who are curious about what a favourite song would sound like in their own language. That's what ForeverLalala is about 😉 . Thanks for your visit and your comment.
Touch the Wind lyrics
I woke up this morning and my mind fell away
And looking back sadly from tomorrow
As I heard an echo from the past softly say
Come back, come back, won't you stay?
I wanted to reach you, let you know I still care (I still care)
And lost in the silence of my sorrow
I put a promise in the wind, on the air
To fly away to you there
Touch the wind
Catch my love as it goes sailing
Touch the wind and I'll be close to you
(Touch the wind)
I'll be easy to find
(Catch my love as it goes sailing)
On the winds of the morning I'll come sailing
(Touch the wind)
I'll be easy to find
(And I'll be close to you)
Baby, I'll be close to you
And only forever can I say I love you
And only forever have I lost you
But only a dreamer could wake up as I do
And hope it's still yesterday
(Nananana...)
(Nananana... na...)
Touch the wind
Catch my love as it goes sailing
Touch the wind and i'll be close to you
(Touch the wind)
I'll be easy to find
(Catch my love as it goes sailing)
On the winds of the morning I'll come sailing
(Touch the wind)
I'll be easy to find
(And I'll be close to you)
Baby, I'll be close to you
Touch the wind

thank you Leslie for posting the English lyrics of Touch the Wind. As with many songs, the new language version is a different song, not a translation into English of the Spanish words. Although different from the original, Touch the Wind is a very moving song.
Beautiful song, but "the wheat inside my bread"(?) is a lyric I've never heard. I'd feel weird singing that out loud.😂
If it works, I'll bring out a new version and you will be duly credited 🙂 ... in any case, thank you very much for watching the video🌹🌹

Not once did I hear "mas o menos" in this song! LOL
And what did you hear instead?
🥰🥰👍🥃🇹🇹
🥂😋🥰🙏❤❤
This is a very nice interpretation . however, you are adding extra words that are not really there .
hi Isabella... thank you for your comment.
Minunati si irepetabili... imn al dragostei...
Who here knew this song from Tommy Boy xD
Hi Kings Slayer! I'd never heard of the film, but since you mentioned it I looked it up and saw a scene where two characters are singing along (in Spanish!) to the Eres Tu song blasting from their car radio as they drive along the motorway towards the sunset. I wonder why singing whilst driving generates such a vibrant sense of delight, even when you're just watching others enjoy those activities, like the scene you're referring to. Thank you very much for visiting and contributing with this comment.
Frumos.
This sounds like it could be written about God. Lots of biblical references
Yes, Itsa, one other person made a similar comment recently. I think such a beautiful song was most definitely composed under Divine inspiration. You can find the Spanish lyrics on my channel if you are interested. Thank you very much 🧡🧡 for leaving such a nice comment 🤗

More or less that is you' sino Something like you.

...maybe a girl has already thought all that about you, but maybe she was waiting for you to give her a signal because she didn't know if you felt the same way... 🌹🍀❤🧡 🙂

Hi Eduardo. What exactly do you mean?
@@foreverlalala exemple " The sound of a promise" in spanish is " el sonido de una promesa" and realy say, "como una promesa eres tu" thats means " like a promise or as one promise, you are
@@alebelden Yes, but a word by word translation cannot be used for a song adaptation. Google Translate can give a perfect translation of the Spanish words, but I wanted to create a singable translation, and that entails a certain degree of transcreation of the lyrics..
@@foreverlalala Ohhh perfect, your lyrics are for a version sung in English, so very good, it's not literal, sorry and it's good that you like music in Spanish
@@alebelden Thank you, Eduardo! Yes, I love good songs in general. See if you enjoy singing along to Robbie Williams in Spanish: ruclips.net/user/shortsft__3KRleYs .. and let me know 🙂
What a kitschy translation! Even my basic Spanish allowed me to see that the flowery sentimentality of this translation is way different than the simple words of this song, searching to compare a loved one to common place, but meaningful aspects in the life of the lover. None of these gushy common place sentimental commercial lyrics, designed to be considered "beautiful" & "touching" by those weaned on commercialism.
basic Spanish yet entitled to slam someone else's work like that?... what a nerve...
there is nothing that could compare growing up in the60s & 70s the music was for gathering neighborhood to have a good time if there were a choice I would ccontinue to luv thy neighbor ,($kirrtt2dollars baby) means luv u ,and have a bleused day

A rather hit and miss result for the English lyrics. Not coompletely unsuccessful given that any words have to match the music.
Are you serious?!!! Do you really believe these are just random words thrown together to match the music???🤨🤨
Ese "more or less" 😅😅
The translation takes too many licenses.
@@angelgomez6055 Angel, this is not a straight translation. I wanted to create a version that could be sung to fit the music. I have one other video in the channel, where I offer a translation, but in most videos, in order to attain a singeable version, a certain degree of adaptation is inevitable. Many thanks anyway for visiting and sharing your opinion.
These so-called translated lyrics are not remotely correct. Just saying.
I don't claim my work to be a "translation" of the lyrics. But thanks anyway for viewing the video and posting your opinion.
