FLEX FUEL AFTER GREEN SPEED | Ethanol gauge install

  • Installing an ethanol gauge on my WRX in this one. If you have a flex fuel sensor, but don't know what to do with it, Fear not! It's not obsolete.
    All you need is a gauge to display the ethanol content, and the sensor does the exact same thing. I swear I'm a genius sometimes.
    I really wanted to get this installed cleanly, but I had not the time nor the tools at my disposal to get this done right the first time.
    Please let me know if you would like me to do a video to show the exact routing I used to make it clean.

    Pretty sure you could just run the analog sensor off the gauge to the TGV and use that for a true flex fuel tune.

    I Build Racecars has a flex kit that works with current updates. Just got my car tuned a week ago on flex. These cars aren’t super happy above 75% ethanol without injectors. An AEM340 got me to 345WHP on just an intake in case anyone was also curious about this.

      I’ve been tuned for about 3 years on flex and It’s not necessarily the injectors that aren’t happy it’s the hpfp, my car started sputtering last year while driving and my ethanol content would be at e65, I lowered it about 6months ago to E60 and it’s been completely fine. The stock hpfp is known for going out while using e85 because it’s so corrosive.

    Dude, you should just a E60 tune, no flex is needed at all, and you can make 330. To 350 wheel hp and torque!! All is needed is a DW 300 fuel pump Grimmspeed boost control solenoid and a Garret tmic aslo a E60 tune !! I’m personally running to set up on my base 18 wrx !! 🔥🔥🤘🏽

    recently picked up the same gauge, just curious how did you wire both gauge and flex kit harness into the ethanol sensor? did you splice both together into one connection or are you running to separate ethanol sensors?

    Either route the end that has the wires striped and tape them together with electric tape then tape them to a wire coat hanger or un pin the pins to the connector and route it throught the fire wall that comes out under the steering wheel/above the pedals.

    You need to be aware: Flexfuel sensors DO NOT tell you now much ethanol is in your fuel. READ the research GM did on those sensors. What those sensors tell you is now much "not gasoline" you have. Since ethanol readily mixes with water and other liquids the "not gasoline" could be ethanol, but it could also be ethanol and water or ethanol and any other liquid. I'm shocked 30 years later people still don't know this. If you don't believe me do your own research.

    • @austinfromtexas
      @austinfromtexas  Год назад

      I already had the Cobb installed so I didn’t look into that one. I’m not sure if the delicious tuning sensor works through the tgv sensors so you might be able to use that one as intended without throwing a code

    • @stickman-1
      @stickman-1 Год назад

      Same problem. They all use the same sensors. They all measure "not gas", not how much ethanol you have. In fact you can test this yourself. Add 4 oz of pure ethanol, 4 oz of water and 2 oz of gasoline. Your sensor will say E80. But you know you only put 4 oz (out of 10) so it should read E40. But that's not how those ethanol/flex fuel sensors work. They actually measure how much gasoline you have and subtract from 100% to get the % of what's left, and they assume that's ethanol. That I am aware (and I have searched) there is no sensor that measures ethanol actually.

      @@austinfromtexas the last tuner I spoke with said it doesn’t use the tgv and it essentially works the same way as the Cobb flex sensor so u don’t have to monitor anything u can just pop ethanol in there and the sensor does the work I don’t even have to run dual maps
