I have this strainer. I've been tinkering with the idea of using it as a whirlpool hopback recirculating idea (one failed attempt, 1 successful), as well as a recirculating dry hopping method (yet to attempt). Anyway, I enjoyed your video. I like the creativity with the expansion tri-clamp gadgets
I just ordered a unitank and came across your videos. I'm not sure if I love them or hate them because of how much more money I'm going to spend 🤣 For real though, super helpful videos!
Hey there! Love your videos! Two questions for you...1.) do you still use this Dernord filter setup to strain out large dry hop additions? and 2.) if so, what does your beer loss look like? just curious because that filter is so big...cheers!
That´s a lot of weight on that thin walled fermenter. And the little weld around the TC port. Thin metal tend to bend easely so you might consider placing something under the filter to releave some of the weight
@@PortlyGentleman I'd like to see that video ;-) I'm looking at a way of performing a DDH with no oxygen involvement. I'm assuming it will be possible with the upcoming Brewtools fermenter but in the meantime...
Thank you very much Gary It was quite effective little operator error on my part first time out lol I don't think it will adversely affect losses at all.
Thanks, I purchased the PRV cap from Norcal, which came unassembled. It is good to see what it looks like assembled from your video.
My pleasure 🍻

You're definitely not alone I really enjoy mine honestly! I just wish SS Brewtech would stop acting like there shit doesn't stink lol

Honestly, losses aren't too bad with that filter. I've since moved on to a smaller one made by brewtools
Hi Bradley, thanks for the video. I've been looking for something like this. Is the beer carbonated already? How are you dealing with foaming?
Nice portly filter!! Lol I think you could use it as a hop randall too! Or even a torpedo like Sierra Nevada uses. Good vidja!! Cheers!! 👍🍻
Thanks Brian I didn't think about using it like that, I'm thinking you're absolutely correct 🍻
@@PortlyGentleman figured... You aren't a big ipa guy.. 👍🍻
@@ShortCircuitedBrewers Nope not yet few years ago I couldn't even really drink one. Now I can throw them back, working on the appreciating part 🍻

Yeah I was thinking about that or connecting it to a hose going in and out. Thank you very much It was very dicey.
Very cool Bradley! Love your set up! Sláinte!
Thank you very very much
Badass filter, hard to find that much stainless for that price!
Thanks that's what I'm thinking 🍻
Could you use that set up to dry hop as well? Put hops in that filter, leave off the mesh and pump wort through it from your fermenter?
Absolutely

Hey Bradley, that is such a nice setup, was there a lot of loss? And was it effective? Cheers buddy
Thank you very much Gary

is it ok to filter carbonated beer?
Yes
How much junk did this device actually stop?
There was no hop particulate in the kegs whatsoever! I'm about the opinion that also filtered out some yeast as well.
