Damn no wonder he died with that stupid barrier placement. Thats such dangerous track design. Rest in peace Carlos Pardo
Remember seeing this the day or the day after it happened in the news. That barrier never should have been there
No that barrier shouldn't have been there however, a car shouldn't explode like that when it hits a tire barrier like that. Thing was, the team and NASCAR Mexico, successfully managed to deflect enough blame at the track to keep people from asking why his car exploded like it did.
I was in the stands at that moment, I was shocked and even cried for his life since I could see his head hanging very tragically 😭
must be a brutal image...
Oh my Lord...
@yanetperez2243 was his injuries internal or was his body in a horrific state?
Carlos is rarely mentioned, much like Tony Roper. Big name or not, both should be remembered fondly. R.I.P.
And Blaise Alexander
As a Mexican American. I was a huge fan of both brothers. I didn't always watched the NASCAR Mexico series. But they were all over on Mexican Commercials. I was hoping he would make the cup series one day. But well the rest history.
At least Daniel Suarez made it to Cup and also has an Xfinity Series championship.

That's just painful and I looking at the pictures his wife was just in panic. And sadness. I can't imagine how I would feel

Wow i never thought you would make a video from my Country's Nascar Series you explain it very well and good work man :)
Do you know any YT vids about the series? I know almost nothing about it so if you have a recommendation, that'd be cool
RIP to a legend. You're racing in the stars.
Oh boy.... I have talked about this incident in a previous video I made. Such a sad situation, seeing his family react to the crash was the most heart wrenching. Glad his story is being shared.
I was at that race, it was a brutal crash I'll never forget.
Also Nascar México had formal warnings about the pit entrance and lack o safety measures around the track before the race happened.
Did the family sue or get compensation? If they had formal warnings before the race, it would seem to give grounds for a lawsuit. His girl should have college covered by it for sure. Just terrible to lose a young guy with a wife and small child like that. The warnings make it all the more frustrating...
he was a leyend of the Mexican series,he did not deserve the end he got,I thank you man to tell Mexican nascar racing that is not that known or heared around the nascar community outside the Mexican nation, btw, you should give a look to many stories the series has to offer in their 20 years of story.
I agree, Nascar México Series has a lot of history and it will be worth making videos about it :)
@@johanrodriguez3275
I agree with you, there are many stories to tell from the mexico series,
@@joseangelgutierrez8122Yep there's even a woman driver named Regina Sirvent hopefully she gets to race NASCAR's top series.
Yea, any storyline suggestions for him to make? And then for me, do you know any good YT videos about the series? I followed NASCAR a ton when I was younger, and have now gotten back into it the last few years, but that kinda means I know nothing about the Mexican series...so if you have a recommended vid or two, that'd be cool. If not no problem
@@extragoogleaccount6061
I maybe know some examples, one in fact is Mazda winning a Nascar Mexico championship in 2012
This is so sad, it's one thing to have a situation like Jochen Rindt, the only F1 driver to become World Champion Posthumously, but to win a race Posthumously, that's painful
indeed... there was no tv broadcast of the awards (I think), but it must've been crazy to see Nina, his wife accepting the championship on his behalf
Truly a Sad Story I've loved to have seen race in the cup series.
Future uploads: Random Drivers: Kirk Shelmerdine and Bad Seasons: Rusty Wallace 1992.
Damn this is a truly sad story. With how successful he was, it was only a matter of time before Pardo rose through the NASCAR ranks. RIP to a legend
Mexican here, from Monterrey.
I saw it in the news back in the day. I'm a bonehead NASCAR fan even before i have memory.
I simply dont remember how much i cried. It was simply sad.
BFM, thank you for covering the NASCAR Mexico Series. I'd love if you could cover more about it!
I’m so proud that you talked about the NASCAR Mexico series and it’s history because I started watching the races around last year and I think NASCAR needs to start doing now more than ever is to promote the series more than ever with the rise of diversity the sport is getting We need to start promoting this series more and more because not only is it a way to teach people about the series but teach other people that there are more series in NASCAR than the truck series Xfinity series and series and I think we need to start promoting other series like The ones in Canada, Brazil and Europe as well and I think it will increase the series viewership among younger viewers like how it did with the cup series back in 2020 And I think they need to start promoting more in Asia in countries like South Korea and China. we did it with Japan, so why can’t we do it with those two make sense, right?
BFM, you have come a long way in your production. I can tell you become one with the stories, whether they're happy or sad. Your tone is good and matches the feel of the story and individual's fate, positive or negative. You're doing great work.
Darian, if you ever cover F1 again, tell the story of Roland Ratzenberger and that cursed weekend in imola.
Everyone needs to learn what happened in that weekend, and what Senna wanted to do if he ever got to live and reach podium that day.
oh man, it would be the most unique win for him if he won... Senna began the flag waive to answer the french mechanics of Lotus after France took Brazil out of the 1986 World Cup. It would be a moment talked about for years, him waiving the austrian flag for Ratzemberger.
this was the darkest weekend F1 ever had
It's been 30 years since that cursed weekend, so it would be fitting to commemorate and remember that weekend
@@otaviofrn_adv the fact that even spectators and pit crew was even injured that day is also forgotten due to the first start and later the pit stops being phased out by most docs about that day
2009 was a very dark year for NASCAR, & especially in the months of May & June. Since this tragedy didn't happen in a Top 3 NASCAR series, it gets easily overlooked.
The crash speaks for itself. It was that bad. Like with Sterling Marlin after Dale Earnhardt Sr.'s death, a lot of people wanted Jorge Goeters' head as a result of this.
It's worrying that fans send death threats when someone is killed in a racing accident. The word "accident" is right in the name! Yet people act like it was a carefully thought out plan to intentionally kill a fellow driver.
@@Dat-Mudkip Yea, blaming the drivers is ridiculous. However, another commenter said that the track had had formal warnings about these dangerous arrangements and issues at the track, but they failed to change anything and then had this race.....so the track owners might be a bit at fault here IMO
I seen video of that crash, that car looked liked it disintegrated.
Looked like if you crunched a soda can
Thx to Darian for having the good sense to blur the crash, it was shocking as it was.
I never saw that crash before, and for me this was worst than Grosjean's crash, not because of the outcome, but because of the crash itself.
@@otaviofrn_adv Having seen the original footage, I'd strongly suggest not going looking for it. Brutal doesn't do it justice. I've seen many crashes over 40-ish years of following motorsport, and Carlos' is in the top 3 nastiest.
REST IN PEACE CARLOS PARDOS!!!!!
A tragedy, indeed. Gone too soon, due a very bad barrier placement.
dude, i don't even wanna know what his family saw there when he was put into the chopper... they saw him and probably already knew he was soon to be gone if he wasn't already... poor guy and honestly, fuck that barrier placement there, this makes me even more anxious than the indy pit entry
The video of his wife after seeing the result was all anyone needed to see. It was the soght of someone whose entire world was just destroyed.
@@gilliganallmighty3Yep his wife immediately started crying very sad scenes.
Still infuriates me that no one in the sport ever remembers Carlos Pardo. Just feels like that NASCAR doesn't care if someone looses their life unless its a big name.
To he fair it's a sub series. People that died in ARCA or regional don't get mentioned either.
@@kimchi2780Blaise Alexander and Eric Martin sure get mentioned...even more than some cup fatalities.
@@kimchi2780nope
@@whynotnascar Martin wasn't,it was the circumstances involved in his fatal accident that make it talked about.
I’d venture a guess most nascar fans aren’t aware of a Mexico series, and if they did, probably don’t care about it, much less know anyone who competes in it.
And to know this occurred only 11 days before the death of Michael Jackson...
Oh thats interesting. The news cycle might be part of the reason this tragedy is not as widely known as it should be.
Back then it was not a surprise. Those cars always looked fragile, tracks have always been poorly maintained, walls thrown at idiotic places.
To this day, they have learned absolutely nothing nothing since that accident. You still see walls placed at the most inconvenient place, waiting for the next Pardo.
I first saw his death crash on a fall racing crashes video there had to be a video about him on BFM
Carlos Pardo: the heart and soul of the NASCAR Mexico Series 🇲🇽
Is THAT where all the Pontiac’s went?! So. Many. Grand Prix’s.
To this day the last nascar driver to die in a race
I wish that was true but Ron Casey unfortunately died in 2016 at the Devils Bowl Speedway due to a wreck and Shawn Balluzzo died in 2020 at the Larry King Laws Langley Speedway due to a wreck because if you look at the “Fatalities in other NASCAR Events” on The NASCAR Fatalities Wikipedia article it says there
Terrible barrier, terrible placement, and terrible car safety, I’m still amazed by how the roll cage failed so spectacularly. I know that hit was very abnormal but the cars were also built like late models, not built to take huge impacts. Thankfully they’ve fixed that.
So Sad
I'm Mexican and I can tell you... The Carlos Pardo's accident, made a shock in the news, and also in the racing community.
Some people, even acused that the move was made intentionally, something that really hurt the pardo family, but it was determined that was a racing maneuver.
RIP Carlos Pardo....
I wonder what kind of injuries he sustained
Unlike Dale Snr's fatal collision, Carlos Pardo's crash was *exactly* as bad as it looked.
I was thinking about this last week.
Gone too soon: Federico Gutierrez
Would this count as a "Gone Too Soon" episode?
Did you see the way those bodies just disintegrate with minimal contact?? Obviously the frames weren't much better... RIP Carlos Pardo
It sad to see Carlos Pardo leave this world so soon, but at least he won before he left.
And it’s horrid to see Jorge Goeters trying to win at all costs, but in the end, he became a loser in the race that he lost.
I remember this. So sad.
Wonder what his parents did to have both sons into racing at a younger age.
I remember that when I was little when I watched the news about it and see the crash and it is indeed HORRIFIC to see…
So avoidable. Feel sorry for his family and his race team.
RIP 🙏
When I first saw that crash on YT and the destruction of the race car into the jersey barrier. Those race cars were not sturdy to sustain a high impact crash unfortunately.
he was one of the best drivers here 😕😕

what happend to Rubens Career. like idk did he continued to race or he had retired from racing by the time of Carlos death
