ROCKETMAN is an epic musical fantasy about the incredible human story of Elton John’s breakthrough years. The film follows the fantastical journey of transformation from shy piano prodigy Reginald Dwight into international superstar Elton John. This inspirational story - set to Elton John’s most beloved songs and performed by star Taron Egerton - tells the universally relatable story of how a small-town boy became one of the most iconic figures in pop culture. ROCKETMAN also stars Jamie Bell as Elton’s longtime lyricist and writing partner Bernie Taupin, Richard Madden as Elton’s first manager, John Reid, and Bryce Dallas Howard as Elton’s mother Sheila Farebrother.
Director Dexter Fletcher
Cast Taron Egerton, Jamie Bell, Richard Madden, Gemma Jones and Bryce Dallas Howard

I don’t get why people didn’t like the movie. And the people who are saying “it doesn’t give a good view to the LGBTQ community” IT’S NOT ABOUT HIS SEXUALITY, IT’S ABOUT THE MAN HIMSELF, HIS LIFE. Don’t see the movie expecting it to be all about the LGBTQ community. Gosh, open your minds a bit. The movie is brilliant.
ButterThanYou 78 truth
Some tea spilled right here!! Finally!
As a member of the LGBTQ+ community: I agree! Reducing Elton, a wonderful person who went through so much, to his sexuality and expecting the film to be all about that in consequence is so wrong. Besides, for the time that the film is set in, it's actually a very accurate portrayal of the ''gay experience''. Allround remarkable wonderful film. In all aspects.
Perfectly said!
I loved the movie
OMG the underwater singing scene..LOVE THAT. NO CGI, THANK GOD. REAL. Looks AMAZING
rhymeandreasoning that scene must have been nerve wracking sometimes
agree, that may be my favorite part in movie
@@hazbinsilly Its good that he already had some experience with it in Kingsman where he make a scene underwater too.
@@casper189 The first time probably but he make the same in kingsman...
Lol, yeah, he was actually singing under water. SMH
Watching this makes me realize how hard it is to be a camera person
Lisa Zemelman Especially when you’re using a steady cam in fast scenes
yeah, my dad is a camera man
Lisa Zemelman seen it three times and not sure why but it gets better each time 🤭
ikr! especially since the camera work for this movie was flawless :)
It pays off though
I lost my breath just by watching Taron singing underwater
If I were ever filming that seen, I'd drown😂😂😂😂 He held his breath real good
I was about to comment that haha
Same-
I'm your 420th like haha funny number
He lost his too
The kid who played young Elton was mega adorable!
Gwen Poole I used to dance with his older siblings! And yeah he was so good!
You mean current Elton... 😉
He was brilliant on the movie, definetly one of my favorite performances of the movie
I know him very well I went to dance class with him and I am in his agency he's really cool and so are his brothers
prob was sodomized to hell & back to get this part
Taron really does deserve an Oscar for his acting and portrayal of Elton. Brilliant film. 😊
Kayatink to bad his is up against Joaquin phoenix
@@charlottecorley1630 agree
Taron deserves an Oscar nomination
@@iameverything6714 That's what the OP said...
I've not thought as much about a film the next day as I have this film. Need to see it again
I feel exactly the same way
Can not relate more
I saw it thursday then sunday.my daughter rang me today.dad.i cant get it out of my head.and no she aint kylie minogue
I know after watching this I need 5o watch it again
I agree his relationship with his father was quite devastating and made me appreciate Elton more for overcoming his demons
Rocketman was fantastic! I am feeling an Oscar nod coming Taron’s way!
If only the Academy members could remember as far back as this when it comes to voting time early in 2020. It's what almost all winning movies are released from October onwards.
John C black panther and infinity war where both nominated for several Oscars so I definitely think this movie has a chance
@Adam Efimoff no offense but I'd hope people aren't watching rocketman for a full picture of the LGBT community, as it's about one specific and important guy from the community. I found my experience in some struggles with being gay to be accurately portrayed in the film. Comparing this film to works that happen to be about being gay that it has little in common with reduces this movie to Elton's sexuality which it is only a part of the man.
Trisha Cullen as it should
Trisha Cullen don't forget Elton John and Bernie taupin
I honestly love how they collaborated with Elton to make sure everything down to the last detail was as correct as possible and Elton just gave them as much support as possible.
They don't just collaborate, je was the executive producer. He was set in the team from day 0.
Gives you an appreciation of what goes into making a movie.
ryan naylor I so Rocketman twice and it was really great but after seeing this out the clips and bloopers and stuff they really cut out a lot of Juicy scenes but I still it was great I love it
When he started to sing rocket man underwater I almost cried :,)
I did-had to put my jumper over my mouth....
Me too...
ALMOST? I was sobbing.
You do realize he wasn’t actually singing under water don’t you?
I love how involved Elton is
TheJeanean he was the executive producer I think or one of them
Well it is a movie about his life after all
He has to be involved
This film was absofuckinglutely brilliant.
Saw Rocketman today and it was seriously incredible
Marian N i so agree with you ! I gonna to watch it for the second time
Sam Armstrong describe some stuff you didn’t like
Sam Armstrong, other than his issues with drugs, family, alcohol, relationships and sexuality, you are completely right, total puff piece!
It really isn't that good. It was exactly like the movie bout queen
yali jonas you smoke crack in your free time and have no taste for movies if you think it wasn’t good. Leave movie reviews to people who understand a good movie.
Love that Elton basically made sure the film didn't shy away from the shittier aspects of his life or be a slave to his music. Biggest wraps for me were for Dexter Fletcher. This is a superb film and full of energy and creativity. Imagine what Bohemian Rhapsody could have been with him directing it all and not just finishing it. Love that he technically directed both a box office smash rock bio and a critically acclaimed rock bio pretty much side by side. Genius.
Omg he’s actually underwater that’s so impressive
Obviously he was. You would've noticed if it had been CG. Not that there's anything wrong with CG of course but you do see the difference on UW scenes.
@@medeaworbs6970 Yeah the actual CG that we see was terrible in this movie. The worst part of the movie for me was the rocket man part, specifically when he’s blasting off. The CG department was awful, but considering how little it was used it’s okay.
The song ‘Saturday Night’s Alright’ in that scene reminds me of stuff like High School Musical and Grease, that kind of stuff
That's what worries me...
Jeff Morgan
Why does it worry you?
@@drmusic3641 I'm sad it's not going to be like BoRhap, and more like a musical.
@@ohwni i am not worried i just enjoy it😎
I actually loved the Saturday Night's Alright scene. It did not feel at all like a Disney musical. It was fun and lovely but still gritty.
6:09 Anyone going to talk about that camera skill? It’s amazing
The movie is definitely strong enough to be come a west end musical one day, I’ll be surprised if it doesn’t
Nicholas Hall i think it’s broadway material
Well I may be a purist but i didn't like the movie... All i was thinking during the screening is that it would be much better as a broadway musical
Honestly I would have liked a more classical approach with the biopic genre for this movie, but i guess that's just a question of taste
@Adam Efimoff I think a drama would have shifted the way you think about Elton John. Yes all of this happened. Yes, those are serious issues that can have a lasting, severe, negative impact on a person. But Elton John is not a drug addict. He is a married ma, a father of two children, a beloved musician and has been one for decades. There is so much love and healing in the present, his past shouldn't overshadow the viewers perception of him.
Yes, that would be amazing!!
I seriously hope it doesss
I saw Rocketman a few days ago at an earlier viewing, and it was amazing! I highly recommend it. Beautiful cinematography, outstanding acting, and just an over all wonderful film
@PyroBot Tv Must be the first film you've ever seen?
Did anyone else notice that Elton's shoes were ruby red like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz for the Goodbye Yellow Brick Road scene? :)
Every time I rewatch the movie, I pick up on many more details, though I saw that one in this video :)
he was also wearing a fur coat to signify the lion and other pieces that matched the tin man etc
It's insane how I don't feel like seeing Taron but completely an other man
Elton John in that case
Sebi The Hunter I feel the same when watching him act in Eddie the eagle! He really becomes the person he's impersonating.
oh little boy elton and the ochestra were actually in the same room!! so cool! I love that scene.. so sweet
His name is Kit Connor (the actor )
Loved this film. 8:48 is so sweet. It’s nice that taron and Richard formed a good friendship despite how toxic the on screen relationship was between them
If Rami took home an Oscar, it’s DEFINITELY Tarons turn! ❤️❤️
I actually enjoyed it much more than BR
yes!
Mike Bolwell me too if i’m being completely honest and that’s saying a lot because I love Queen
@@mikebolwell4176 Me too!
He wasn't even nominated!!!!!
love his singing Taron is amazing TINY DANCER XXOO
Best Bipoic made yet. Ridiculously creative. Performances at 200 percent by everyone involved. Bravo.
It’s not a biopic. It’s a musical that loosely tells the story of Elton John. Factually the Movie is almost completely wrong. Great Musical tho
With Elton it has to be more than perfect. And he is a genious. Therefore 200% was the lower limit.
@@longdongsilver9714 No, factually it plays less fast with the truth than "Bohemian Rhapsody."
Cheryl Hulting ok well you’re wrong and any research will show that. They didn’t play any song in this movie in chronological order, they also played heavily with when events of his life happened and how they did
@@longdongsilver9714 Such as what? Examples? Underplaying Freddie's true sexuality is the first of the issues with BR. I also don't recall saying everything in R is factual.
I actually enjoyed this more than bohemian rhapsody, it was unique, but I’m still a huge queen fan
That orchestra scene is pure genius. I have no words it's just so good
i’ve never been so passionate about a movie. like i haven’t stopped thinking about it since the day i saw it. i’ve been listening to the soundtrack nonstop. i’m about to preorder the digital version. i can not wait to watch it again
me too i’ve seen it many times since i watched it for the first time 2 months ago
I've seen it twice because it's a masterpiece of a movie.
This film is 'Best Picture' worthy--regardless of any category it may be in. It is that good. It's just a genius effort, from all who participated. Mind-blowing, and amazing. Thank you to those (including the studio execs) who choose to give us something this original and creative, in our current day.
Dang taron is hot.
Oh yeah!
Seconded I thought he was fine the first time I saw him, in the kingsmen ... not just his looks but hes just so charismatic and down to earth and funny but still just a lad .. fame and i hope it never does havnt changed him hes just a lovable down to earth heartthrob with an amazing character actor career ahead of him ... I have a feeling his going to be one of the biggest and best for along time this guy think he can play anything they put in front of him
Those thighs & such a sweet butt s i g h I'm 70 but if I were 40 yrs.younger....
Oof he is😳🤤
@@lindawarren8325 youre not 70, i can tell
saturday night's alright's choreography looked insane. you have to get a massive group of people perfectly in sync!!! what the hell!! dude all that takes so much work. i can't get over it.
The choreographer is a long time musical theatre actor, which helped big time. He knew ho two make a do-able and entertaining chroeography because he's been on the other side of choreo before. One of the best choices the production team could make
This movie was absolutely amazing in every way. Taron did an exceptional job playing Elton and the director behind it did an incredible job of coming up with beautiful ways of doing the scenes.
12:27 the way Taron steps directly back to Elton so that he can listen to whatever he is about to say. There is so much love and respect in these short seconds. I just love Taron ♥️
Getting ready to go see it for the third time. Cannot get enough of this fantastic movie!!! Taron, Taron, Taron!!!!!
saturday nights all right...the scene looks so amazing
if taron doesn’t get an oscar I’ll be really disappointed
He didnt even get a nomination 😢he was robbed such bs
it got bulldozed by joker. if only it wasn’t released 2019, it would’ve owned the oscars.
Taron’s acting is so fine, amazing! Jamie Bell and Richard Madden wonderful. all contenders for Oscars!
i saw Rocketman yesterday, and wow just amazing
NO NAME🍓♡ me as well (: its fantastic
Props to kit Connor for portraying the teen version of the amazing artist Elton John is ❤️
Love the movie..i saw it 4 times..I love you Elton
Me too!
Saw it six times 😂😂😂
I can’t get enough of this movie. God it was so amazing.
A regular man, coming to accept himself as he is, needing love, wanting to love and be loved.
I have always really liked Elton John, love his music, but after seeing this movie, I truly love Elton. As a Mom, I just want to hug him and lavish him with love.
I just watched today and I really want to go again to the cinema... Amazing.
7:15 Imagine you had to spin on the carousel all the time
I wonder would it be dummies? You would hope so 😅
The scene under the pool make me speechless , so proud of you Taron we love this movie and you as well 💕
I just saw this movie in the theater and I was very impressed by the way that they told his story. I'm most likely going to be seeing it for a second time soon.
6:03 if Taron Egerton charged at me like that I think I would pass out🤤❤️❤️😂
Yeah, I’d probably pass the eff out and die right there on the floor
Meghan Taylor I WOULD BE LIKE “JEEZ MAN BACK UP!! YOU’RE CUTE AND ALL BUT...”
Simps
Taron is an incredible great actor and singer !!! This movie is fantastic!!!
okay but SATURDAY NIGHT CHOREOGRAPHY
CandyLover556 I wanted to be in it
I saw rocket man yesterday and it was different but that's what I love about it. I appreciate the movie and the actors in this movie. And taron did so well portraying elton. What an amazing actor! Truly a good movie💜💛💜💛💜
Amazing production... Taron Egerton is incredible as Elton John xx
After walking out of the theatre i thought
“damn i need to go see that again”
and i’m going to this weekend!! :D
I went with my sister, and turned around and watched if again and just watched the video again
Amazing. I saw the movie I was blown away. And this clips make me appreciate the craft-ship of the whole process even more
I saw the movie today it was amazing. Yeah you can tell its not in order, but its a musical so the songs were talking about what was going on. the editing was Great it flowed so well from scene to scene.
Best film of 2019, just released at the wrong time of the year and was criminally overlooked by the time the Oscars rolled around.
Just saw rocketman, and i'm absolutely blown away. I've never seen such a captivating movie that still left me thinking afterwards.
Glad first thing they show in this vid the Tribudor scene , that was my absolute favor part OF ANY MOVIE I have ever seen , nothing like it un real movie 🔥🔥
Spot on.........I have watched it 5 times and I always cry at the end when Elton hugs the little boy (him as a child) priceless.
Taron definitely deserved an Oscar WIN!
Incredible performance! Another Angel walks among us.
I just noticed the rocketman's director Dexter Fletcher was the little boy in the movie David Lynch 's movie Elephant Man (1980). Time flies.
Also TV's press gang . Hes amazing
I've seen it twice and will probably see it again soon. Fantastic.
Love how everyone kisses Elton. Wonder if it's a must on his part ?
.. its etiquette
It's ermm...what people do?
It's a normal form of greeting in Europe
Elton is british , as am i Etiquette and " what people do" is definitely not a British thing .
It’s a french thing
Just saw this film and my head is reeling I lovvvvvved it 🥰 Not sanitized at all, but neither grotesque. So much love and respect to Elton and his friends went into this movie and you can feel it. Beautiful cinematography, great choreography, lovely use of Elton's music and such a sincere (though admittedly elaborated) retelling of his life. Feels as though you are watching Elton's life replay through his own eyes.
Sasha Howard hey! Since you have already seen the film... I was wondering if you could tell me if there are some scenes that might make it awkward watching this film with my parents... I know that there is a sex scene and I was wondering if it was very explicit? Thanks
@@indianajones1433 there are naked chests and legs, (like, legs wrapping around legs, it's steamy, but brief scene) but I don't remember any butts or other goods. I saw it with my mom and they stopped right at the edge of me wanting to shield her eyes lol. The camera pans away once they hit the bed. Sex is implied several other times (like a dude lifting his head up from another dude's crotch area) but you don't see anything. I'd say the sex was closer to a PG13 but the substance use is an easy R. If your parents know what to expect and aren't uptight, I'd say you'll only be moderately uncomfortable haha.
Thank you a million times. This was fascinating. WOW (!) The cameras. FANTASTIC. Thank you for this gift.
I wish I had a pair of Elton Johns shoes they’re awesome
I bet it was so hard for Elton watching the suicide scene. He’s probably thinking “that was me”
The second time under the water, the first in Kingsman 1, and the second time work together Elthon and Taron, the first in Kingsman 2.
makes you appreciate the whole production even more!
1:03
I don't think I've ever seen elton john wear something so muted lmao
juliet Elton are you sick?
so stoked for this art piece to come out!
Dexter Fletcher - from Press Gang to directing something like this. 👌🏼
Imagine being in the same room as Taron Egerton
Imagine their reactions when Elton and his husband let their kids watch Rocketman when they are older
THAT UNDERWATER SCENE IS SO COOOL
Saw it today, loved it. Just BRILLIANT!!
8:53 taron and richard hug awnn gotta love them
Waiting patiently for this to come out,yet you release new clips every day. You know my weakness, stop hitting me harder and harder...
SAME!
The soundtrack is supposed to come out this Friday!
Eric Andre eating a chicken wing Ohhh no. Why did you have to say that?😂
I saw an early viewing, and it's amazing. Taron's acting is Oscar-worthy, the cinematography was beautiful, and the film as a whole was just fantastic
I think they should have released another full song before the film opens in the U.S. Probably too late now.
Little Elton is just 🥺🥺❤️
WHEN HE TRIED KILLING HIMSELF THAT WAS ACTUALLY ALL NO CGI HOLY
There would be no point of it
I know, right?
What an amazing film! Now I understand the lyrics better in his songs. Definitely come from the heart and his life experiences. Would love to see it again. Deserves an Oscar. Fantastic CAST. Also it would make an incredible theatre tour. After all, Elton is very dramatic and theatrical with his performances. Love this film ❤️
The choreography for Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting reminded me of the dance sequence in the 2012 London Olympics directed by Danny Boyle, when a crowd scene danced through several periods of British music. Loved the 2-Tone bit of that in Rocketman. Its total irrelevance to the actual song showed me what the musical fantasy aspect was going to be about - taking adventurous liberties!
It reminded me of that too! For the industrial revolution bit when they're dancing towards the camera
I am a Elton John fan I have one of his CD and I do plays them all the time I love to see ROCKETMAN in the theater
This was genuinely the best film I have ever watched in my entire life!! I cried and loved every second, I already want to watch it again 😍😍
Omg 😲 I watched this movie last night . Why didn't I go to the cinema to view this masterpiece ? Why haven't I listen to Elton John's music?
What a fantastic movie
The story in Lincoln close to where Bernie lived was that he was a bored teenage cub reporter on the Lincolnshire Chronicle newspaper, who wrote poetry. He had screwed up his efforts in frustration and thrown them in the bin. His mum had seen that Bernie had circled the advert in the music paper and it was Mum who sent in the lyrics. Who knows????
I had no idea
I'm still not over this movie. It was fantastic
that one scene where Taron suddenly starts smiling all over his face because his friend Richard comes on set and then they hug each other so tight, brothers for life :')
Watching this amazing magnificent video Sir Elton sitting watching makes me love him mote hes such a gentle loving man n hes in awe im sure n has his beautiful partner beside him im all teary 😍💫❤😘🌷
I only saw this yesterday but I need to see it again
Absolutely loved this movie!
the actor deserves the oscar for sure
Too bad didn't make it to Oscar nomination
The choreography work for this movie is so fucking great. I love Rocketman. I seen it 3 times already and I already pre-ordered my 4k movie for Rocketman.
I watched this movie on Friday.
It was absolutely beautiful.
8:46 Taron was so freaking happy to see Richard. Omg my heart. That was so beautiful. I'm crying now lol
the extras/ppl in ensemble scenes must have had SO much fun in this
Taron Egerton is soooooo cute!
