Armstrong was already one of the most recognizable, beloved, and innovative entertainers in the world when his wife, Lucille, chose the working-class neighborhood of Corona for them to call home. Today, some four decades after his death, it remains a pristine time-capsule for both design lovers and jazz aficionados.

Wow!! What a home, designers today wallpaper the ceilings. The kitchen is fabulous, looks very similar to lacquer which is popular today. A testament to how the styles always return. What a special video, thank you!

Crazy, but I've never heard him called "Louis". My dad always said, "Loo-ey".

So did my Dad . I understand Satchmo always called himself Louis . My belief is anglos called him louie to signify acceptance and admiration , although folks trying to maintain racial strife would have insisted it was to be disrespectful not calling him by his given name .I prefer to think positive as I believe most folks are decent . I love Duke Ellington too .
