Thank you Ken for all you do to bring us closer to God and to the church!! 🙏🏼
Thank you Ken and Father for this teaching. My hearts desire is for to see the altar rail back. What a difference in receiving our precious Lord Jesus on the tongue and kneeling. A church l go to occasionally have a single kneeler for those who desire to receive this way, absolutely beautiful 🙏✝️🇦🇺
Our church is in the round so a single kneeler for people who desire to kneel have that available would be wonderful. I'm going to speak to our priest about this.
In the church, a lot of wrong things happened. I don't like holy communion taking into the arms. I am always taking just on the tongue . I missed the time when was wooden rail with white clothes, and everyone was kneeling. Jesus didn't deserve us to take into the arms holy communion. I think for Jesus, it's very painful .

Thank you Ken for this conversation with Father Christino who explains things so beautifully. My nuggets from this was why we are at Mass, our journey standing at the gate of heaven and what touches my heart the most was hearing Father explain so endearingly that the 2nd person of the Trinity comes to me and places himself On my tongue to give me strength until I meet him in heaven. Very beautiful
This was such a helpful conversation. As a re -vert to Catholicism, there are so many questions I have that are being answered as I listen to these conversation. What a blessing this RUclips channel is. Thank you both!
This is one of the most reasonable conversations I’ve heard in regard to all the issues discussed. And it was all spoken in a way that didn’t make me feel degraded for attending the Novus Ordo Mass. Thank you! I have attended both TLM and Novus Ordo but I pay better attention when Mass is prayed in the vernacular. I’ve returned to receiving the eucharist on the tongue for years now and I now wear a veil during Mass. We don’t have kneelers for receiving communion, otherwise I would also kneel. I have osteoarthritis in the knees. After watching your video I’m prompted to go to adoration more often.
Fr. Cristino, thank you, for explaining it so clearly. We need a priest like you at my church in Texas. I love the way you explain everything. I've been following you. May the Lord continue to bless you and guide you 🙏 Ken, thank you as well. For teaming up with Fr. Cristino, Blessings for you and your family. 🙏
It is so refreshing to see you getting emotional, Ken when talking about kneeling and receiving Our Lord and how you yearn for all to do this. It moved me. Thank you.
Very good information! You explained things and made me aware of things that I had never really thought about. Unfortunately, I do things because that's the way it's done. 😥 Father Christino is such a blessing, such a beautiful teacher of our faith. Thank you both for leading us to Christ, to a deeper faith, and to heaven.
Oh .. our priest was talking about that recently, the two things that I notice most in todays Chapel is the way people dress , jeans, leggings, low cut tops etc… and how everyone chatters after mass - in the Church! Out of respect for the Lord , who’s holy house we are in , we should be reverent no chattering and dress appropriately, you wouldn’t wear your old jeans and scruffy T shirt to a wedding so why would you wear such items to receive the body and blood of the Lord our God.
This is wonderful! It is a breath of fresh air and a tremendous reminder of what the holy mass is all about. Thank you so much!! I love Ken's point. Our children/grand children belong at mass with us!!
Thank you Father and Ken for a very profound and powerful discussion today. I agree with nearly everything you've stated. Myself, I only receive on the tongue and receive only from a priest or Deacon but I can not kneel on both knees anymore and my genuflections are at best as far down as I can. I'm always saying "I'm sorry" to Jesus that I can't kneel in His presence anymore. 😢 Thank you thank you thank you...God reward you for your instructions and guidance. 🙏🏼😇🩷🙏🏼
Thank you Ken and Father for sharing. The two points which were most significant: When the children attend Mass with their parents and watch how they kneel to our Lord and King in the Eucharist, especially the father, It will impact their perspective. Also taking time to adore the Blessed Sacrament will transform us, especially our young people. Christ will reveal to us that he loves us and desires for us to know and love him in return.
I prefer to receive on the tongue from a Priest or a Deacon. I also wish we had the kneeling rails. I can't kneel on the floor to receive cuz I'll never get back up
I made my First Communion in the mid nineties and was taught by the lay catechists to put my hands out to receive. I only ever knew that way until recently. I have now found out that this form was supposed to be a limited exception to receiving by tongue. I am a little annoyed that I was basically taught the wrong thing and also believe that it has had a negative effect on those of my generation who don’t believe in the Real Presence and have since left the Faith.
We need to bring back altar rails before many of us older people can kneel/receive on the tongue. It is not a lack of desire at least on my part and I suspect many people (esp older people with mobility issues) wd be willing to receive this way if it was a real option.
I am fortunate so far to go once a week to Latin mass. I pray to God that they won't stop that. There is truly more reverence in that mass and during consecration the altar boy lights a candle to show that Jesus is present. I love receiving Holy Communion on my tongue too. You have no concerns about dropping particles from the Sacred Host. I love receiving you MY LORD JESUS May YOU be PRAISED always.
In our Diocese in the South of England our Bishop encourages Eucharistic Adoration. Our Parish has it most Tuesdays and Thursdays after Mass for an hour and many parishioners stay for part or all of this time. The neighbouring Parish has it on Fridays. In addition, our Parish has a Holy Hour in the afternoon on the First Sunday of the month and once a year [in May] we have a 40-hours Eucharistic Devotion, starting on the evening of the Tuesday before Ascension Day and ends with the morning Mass of Ascension Day. People come in usually for an hour at a time [although both shorter and longer stays are permitted]. Our priest repeatedly emphasises the Real Presence in his Homilies. Every year priests should give Homilies on the Real Presence on Maundy Thursday and Corpus Christi. In Year B of the Lectionary further opportunities exist from Weeks 17 to 21, when the Sunday Gospel readings are taken from John 6. Our priest did not fail to deliver, I seem to remember that he gave strong Eucharistic Homilies on Weeks 18 and 20.

The New Mass was the work of Cardinal Bugnini ,another Bishop and 7 protestants,in recent years it has come out that Bugnini was a devout freemason. There is a book 'Murder in the 33rd Degree ' by Fr.Murr who lived and worked in The Vatican during that troubling time it gives a clear understanding of the changes that have harmed are beloved Church. The first part where Fr. Explains the complexities surrounding VII and its impact on faith in the eucharist would make more sense if there weren't people - bishops and cardinals and spectators - who felt/believed/knew AT THE TIME the deliterious affects the reforms would have on the faith. I think this gets missed by many who make the argument (not suggesting Fr. is) that this all kind of just happened. Wonderful and important discussion, though. Thank you both
As a senior, who was raised in a Catholic family from birth - grew up attending Latin Mass - with the altar rail; saw the changes after Vatican 2 - left the Church - then decades later came back, I believe your explanation does not take into account our changing culture of the 60s. You explained the changes in the Church from a religious perspective - and although that had an effect on the changes in the Church as well as the diminishing attendance - but if you lived (in the US) during the 50s and 60s, our changing culture had a far more reaching affect on the Church, than a Latin Mass or a communion rail - or even guitars and rock music played by young musicians. It would take a book to explain what changed our society and the impact it had on the Church, both positively and negatively. In hindsight, it was bound to happen - nothing that the Church did or didn't do could have changed this course.
Ken, I totally agree about wishing that others could experience this. Kneeling and receiving our Lord humbly on our knees brings peace beyond measure , especially in a world of darkness and chaos. I know with 100% certainty that Jesus is present in the Eucharist. I love my Lord so much, I truly wish that everyone would love our Eucharistic Lord.
It's not only the belief.in the Eucharist. Less priests and religious. Less priestly pastoral care... priest are very busy (our parish has one priest and consists,3 churches) that spreading pastoral care thin. Catechesis in the home is almost non existent, parents drop their children off at catechesis/ church and pick them up again (tick off the sacraments)... there's so much more that's been happening over the years that caused the deterioration of the faith and the church in general
I grew up in Quebec, before Vatican 2. If the churches were crowded it was because we were "ritualized" (missing the SPI... Today, those who do attend are more Spiritual... My personal "conviction" of the TRUE Presence of Christ in the Eucharist happened only after I went through "Life in the Spirit".
My father's family is from Quebec, Eastern townships, west of Acton Vale. At least 3 of his siblings were abused in the 40s and 50s. Memorised his catechism, was told that walking on church lawn and letting Host touch his teeth were mortal sins. Only came to deep faith in Eucharist later in life.
This was a wonderful talk. I would love for you to ask Father next time about the reception of the precious blood at Mass for parishioners. What his option and what the church actually says about this practice.
Sadly I have been remonstrated by a Priest for kneeling down to receive Our Lord on my tongue, it was such an embarrassing moment in front of my family and now they choose to receive on their hands to avoid being reprimanded in front of their peers. Even when we attend Mass at a different church where the Priest allows us to receive Our Lord on our tongue they still refuse to receive Our Lord on their tongues.
I find it ironic that I play guitar at Mass while wearing a veil, but as much as I'd love to have just organ or a choir, I don't know how to play organ or direct a choir. I do know a bit about playing music though, so what I have, I offer Him. One thing I appreciate about what Father was saying here, is the words of the Mass. It is always my goal to draw from any music I know (and sometimes to learn a new song if I can) to find songs that specifically fit the Mass I am preparing for. I often play hymns or songs that are thought of as "Protestant" because they fit so well with the words of that specific Mass. Of course I make sure there is nothing unfitting in the songs. I truly believe that the way forward from all of the highs and lows of the Church getting to where we are now, is to do whatever we can to authentically serve God to the best of our abilities. I wear a veil because the real presence was a completely new concept for me as a convert and I wanted a physical reminder even when I am in the presence of Jesus in the tabernacle. But I don't desire for anyone to be obligated to wear a veil. Maybe another person has always known the majesty of Our Lord, but needs to be reminded of his closeness as closer than a brother. Maybe for that person not wearing a veil allows them to acknowledge that He sees them. Who am I to say what is best. So where the Church, in her wisdom, has left ambiguity, I honour that, and where there is rigidity, I honour that as well. And I sure pray for our priests to be able to shepherd us through each day.
I was wondering if I truly believed when I dreamt I was in adoration/ mass ( a dream ) and I knew I did believe and he was helping me with my unbelief. I woke with a joyful peace. I think it might be true of many who can't bring themselves to claim belief. Perhaps we expect too much of ourselves and need to simply trust God with our tiny bit of faith.
I think poor catechesis has a lot to do with it. I have two grand-daughters who were educated in Ontario Catholic schools (right up through high school) - neither are practicing Catholics today. I think if they really had been taught about the Real Presence they wd still be Catholic.
As an older adult, I look back at my earlier moments of being a Catholic right before the Vatican Council put these changes into place, I cringe! My earlier experiences I have been so grateful to have had. The communion rails, everyone received it on the tongue, confession booths, latin mass & absolutely no Eucharistic ministers. I was taught that the priest hands have been blessed, not what we have with Eucharistic ministers who are not, nor do we know how long their confession or not have been. Then, some churches' fathers allowed it on the hand ( think of all one touches beforehand besides ministers). Then I see some priests just grabbing the communion host to place in all the chalice. Is there no wonder we as Catholics have lost the adoration of the body & blood when we don't know or care. It has to change & the parish priest has to spark the respect that's due to receiving the host, body & blood of Christ. The pope has to allow the Latin mass to be said, not taken away again & sin is called sinful acts. Thanks to you both, especially Fr.
You are correct! Parents want their children to participate in the Children's liturgy....maybe the parents want their children to be patient & quiet during Mass! Shameful.... I agree, we should share Mass with the family
One of the BEST ministries in my parish IS children's liturgy. There are four Masses every weekend. Children's liturgy is only offered at SOME Masses. This gives parents choices. My Protestant friends seem to go for entertainment. Church ought to be a SACRED time.
I'm so sorry 😔... That is awful. I think I would find another parish if possible but I don't think he can deny someone from receiving on the tongue... Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.
@@mperez2730but I think its also about the amount of time. If 80 people went and kneeled it would take an extremely long time, especially given the different physical abilities of folks who may feel obligated to kneel. For the past 27 years of my life I’ve only seen communion distributed in the hand at the churches I attended. It was only when I began to travel the world is when I saw someone have it placed on their tongue (outside of North America). I think it’s more about receiving and ensuring you’re participating in the sacrament of the Eucharist rather than how it’s received.
@@dobijokiema Concerning the amount of time it would take for communion, I humbly believe it does not matter. Why is everyone always in a hurry to leave Mass? Per St Padre Pio... our Lord's crucifixion lasted 3 hours. I think the waiting only gives us more time for prayer and preparation for The Body of Christ. Concerning people with handicaps the receiving on the hand should be honored. However for us wanting to kneel in front of Our Lord that should never be denied.
@@dobijokiema Also second Vatican while allowing to receive in your hand also firmly said we can continue to kneel to receive on the tongue and that cannot ever be denied. God bless 🙏
@@mperez2730 most definitely. I think that’s our issue today, everything is being rushed and the time we need to truly spend with the Lord has become transactional in a way, rather than truly spiritual.
You can start by putting back the communion rail, and for those who can kneel do so and receive the Eucharist on the tongue. The Eucharist should only be handled by the anointed hands of a priest. Yes, I'm old school, or just old and long for the return to the real Mass. I suspect I'll be dead before that happens.
I believe fully Holy Eucharist is precious body n blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. And Christ our Messiah sacrificed n gave us his heart with love. May GOD our Father Almighty who art in Heaven guide n accept all into his arm. Whoever who has already been accepted n got to know Christ r the most fortunate on earth. Pls repent in time and find your way back home. AMEN.🙏🙏🙏💛💛💛
When I was young every Catholic rightly believed that in the body and blood of Jesus Christ .People prayed and rightly believed that Jesus was in the Blessed Eucharist.People started dropping off the Church when the abuse started to happen in the schools and not all priests were good .About 66 years ago we had an assistant priest who abused children and a priest who was a Homosexual so it’s being going on for a long time .I think people trusted God but the young children who had been abused were hushed up and Clergy just shifted to another Parish or school .The fault was in the human error of Bishops and Cardinals not doing their job and not removing sick clergy .We still have the same problem and Catholics have gone against the faith because the message has been passed on to the world .Until the Church removes these Clergy .We should pray and mention at every Mass to pray for the abused and apologise .We now have same sex attracted people in the synod .Nothing has improved for our young men and children .I will solve your problem kneel before the Tabernacle and just say Hello .
We can blame the second Vatican council because too may lay people were consulted and also if somethings not broken why fix it because for sure we are now worse off after it than before because the REVERENCE has gone and that was always staid and safe with the Latin Mass - there was NO room for error
Seems like whatever came out of the second vatican council didn’t help things, it made things worse. Seems obvious since the faith declined everywhere.
If you get everyone praying the rosary again, Mary will bring them back to faith in the Eucharist. But we didn't and still aren't listening to Our Lady of Fatima. That's it in a nutshell.
If Trump was condemned by Pope as non Christian, yet he can boldly and publicly preach God and encourage Bible study then can our Pope and clergy doing better job than him? Pray for the Church.
You just spoke for an hour about worshipping god and serving at mass and knocked down everything from Vatican II by speaking about your personal preferences for traditionalism. It’s such a contradiction.

This father lost me when he said that the Eucharist in the hand and Vatican 2 have nothing to do with the disgraceful state of our faith. Also, it is clear he is a woke father judging by the way he is dressed, without any reverence to his vocation. 😢
Jesus isn't present in the Eucharist, it's a worthless ritual that has no value. The only ones who partook of the bread and wine at the Last Supper were the Apostles because the New Covenant was made with them as the foundation stones of the Kingdom, the 144,000. The Catholic Church is not Christian in the true sense, the doctrines, idols, rituals, and fancy vestments are all pagan in origin.
An opinion will not change the never changing truths that make up the Catholic Faith. Tracing the Catholic Faith back to the Apostles is a fact. An opinion will not change all that is contained within the Catholic faith. Only the holy spirit can help us discover the truth.
I would say Bingo. Same with Church of England, pandering to the Left does not increase faith. In fact it’s the opposite. Other Churches and the Orthodox faiths are increasing. That should be a heads up.
Jesus said, "This is my body," then he broke the bread and handed it to his followers who received it in their hands. If this was good enough for Jesus and his followers then it is good enough for me. Anything further than this is just someone trying to be a Pharisee and make up their own rules in an attempt to add holiness to that which is already holy.
@@yb5515You do know that Jesus ordained the 12 apostles before The Last Supper right? This is why communion in the hand should never be done. We.. are not ordained nor have consecrated hands. It should go from the "ordained" priests hand directly into your mouth.
@@thedisconnectedwife4165 There is no evidence anywhere in the bible of giving Eucharist on the tongue. That is a purely human invention and it doesn't make the Eucharist any more or less holy than in the hand.
@@yb5515 It's not a matter of being biblical (well there is Isaiah 6:1-6 but that's foreshadowing). Just because you can do something, doesn't mean it's right. I mean what makes more sense? You reverently receive the Eucharist on the tongue kneeling with zero chance of any of Christ's body missing pieces or in the hand then pop it in your mouth like a chip then wiping your hands on you pants? Maybe you're careful, maybe your neighbor is careful. But many, too many infact are not careful. The change was damaging period. It changed the way people thought about the validity of the Eucharist. And in turn we are now seeing the consequences of those actions. Remember. culture is always downstream from the church.

Maybe a simpler explanation on how and why it is the body and blood of Christ, would help.
I have to agree with you regarding children's liturgy, it's like sending them to daycare.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Thanks for the question
We are at Holy Mass to worship God.
I would love it if the Railings would come back. It is giving reverence to God to receive him body and soul
Begins at 28.18
Why does the church say we only need too go one time a year to confusion?
Actually, that statistic is inaccurate. It was how the question was worded. Please see Fr. Chris Alar for an update. Thanks and God Bless.
I think it is still in rubrics (GIRM) when priest should face the congregation, during ad orientem worship.
"Do what you were taught at the beginning"
Our priest announces at every mass " communion will be distributed in the hand only". So what choice do we have?
You have to recognize the elderly and those with medical history who cannot kneel
What if our church don't have a kneeled rails for receiving Christ 🤔
I believe fully Holy Eucharist is precious body n blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. And Christ our Messiah sacrificed n gave us his heart with love.
May GOD our Father Almighty who art in Heaven guide n accept all into his arm. Whoever who has already been accepted n got to know Christ r the most fortunate on earth. Pls repent in time and find your way back home. AMEN.🙏🙏🙏💛💛💛
This non belief is SO wide spread, could it be that it has been being taught?
His name is Father Cristino
We can blame the second Vatican council because too may lay people were consulted and also if somethings not broken why fix it because for sure we are now worse off after it than before because the REVERENCE has gone and that was always staid and safe with the Latin Mass - there was NO room for error
It's because when you speak, you are not the speaker. I hear God through you that I have not heard from other Priests in the same way.
Wrong into the arms, holy communion .
Hi ya, again, I read my messages. And I see, a mistake, in my spelling! Sorry, I was a bit upset, I'm 70yrs.old and a bit stiff in my fingers. And I type like a monkey 🐒 GO AHEAD AND LAUGH! I DO 😂 THANKYOU, I REALLY ENJOYED AND REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR PROGRAMS ❤ BYE NOW, THE BLOOD OF JESUS COVER YOU AND YOUR LOVED ONES AND THE WATER FROM HIS SIDE, WASH ALL HARM THAT COULD, EMOTIONALLY, PHYSICALLY AND SPIRITUAL ❤HARM YOU ❤ MAY THE HOLY FAMILY, HOLD ALL OF YOUR LOVED ONES IN THEIR HEARTS AND ARMS, ALWAYS ❤ BYE NOW, MARY
This father lost me when he said that the Eucharist in the hand and Vatican 2 have nothing to do with the disgraceful state of our faith. Also, it is clear he is a woke father judging by the way he is dressed, without any reverence to his vocation. 😢
As someone who knows him personally, your comment is so far off the mark it is embarrassing.
You are completely wrong and have no right to judge based on what he's wearing. Father Cristino is a good and holy priest.
Does it have anything to do with the church’s lack of credibility with many of its stances on many social issues? - Possible?
I would say Bingo. Same with Church of England, pandering to the Left does not increase faith. In fact it’s the opposite. Other Churches and the Orthodox faiths are increasing. That should be a heads up.
Communion in the hand is sacrilege plain and simple. No one should be receiving communion from anyone other than a priest or a deacon.
Thank You!
