My Dad let me hop on his 2016 Yamaha XSR900 and boy was I in for a surprise! MERCHANDISE SHOP: saltxthexwound.... FACEBOOK: / saltxthexwound INSTAGRAM: Instagram @SALTxTHExWOUND
The XSR was ahead of the fz09 until the new fz09 came out for this year with all the updates. It however still suffered from all the suspension downfalls of the later fz09. I like the looks of the XSR better and if you want one I'd wait and see if they update the suspension to coincide with the fz09. I'd also throw out that you'll have better aftermarket support on the fz09 most likely just because of popularity.
If you like that then the FZ/MT-10 will blow your mind... As it passes 7K in 3rd with the throttle pinned, up comes the front tyre, and 4th if you hit a bump.
it's weird because it's more of a Touring bike where you're sitting straight up so it's not like you're 7:50 at all with your lean over and you have to pull up even to do a stand-up wheelie or even a sit down with you and basically all you do is push ur ASS back a little bit further on the seat and 3rd gear wheelies r going to be just easier for everyone u just have to get used to the throttle that is it and what RPM range also then go for it!!!..
Would love hearing how the XSR900 compares to the GSXR750 you had. I’ve sold my Moto Guzzi Racer to buy the Yamaha. I find the Guzzi position uncomfortable for my back/hips. (I’m 54y, but ride aggressively). My brother rides a 2013 GSXR. Power? Comfort? Fun factor? Can you let me know, as you’re experienced on both? Much appreciated.
Hey Is me the guys from the gas station with the red tank and black 750, cool meeting you there man, gotta love the "North Run", hopefully we can go for a ride together. I test ride the XSR at the Expo in Orlando and is an amazing bike, fun for days!!
try turning off the traction control you can't keep the front end on the ground.i know i have one just like except for your cool mirrors.what kind of bar end mirrors are they?
You want to do wheelies turn off the traction control depending on which one it's on the wheel is going to be pulled down. TC1 you can pull them TC2 it's hard and TC off be careful.
I own an XSR900 myself. Would love to know what mirrors are installed? The stock bar end weights are beefy and keep the vibrations down, so I’m curious if those are stock or not with the mirrors and if the vibrations increased.
... was the traction control on the whole time? mine will bronco hop in 1st and second will normally pull the wheel up rolling on the throttle. (but only with the tc off)
sixthisoverdrive haha honestly I didn't want to ride it bc it's his baby and don't really like risking messing up other people's bikes but I guess he trust me? Haha what a blast!
the way it keeps coming down on the wheelies looks like you had TCS on 2 maybe 1, need to hold that shit up for 2 sec to turn TCS off and then put it in mode A....shit comes up without the clutch
Great video! looks like you had fun. Go get a test ride on the fz/mt10 short gearing with the same wheel base as the fz07 but with 160bhp and 111nm lol it harder to keep the wheel down then it is to get the wheel up haha
ReRe BaBe I just googled it and it said 430 lbs wet, which is about what the 750 is but it has more torque than the 750 so it was nearly effortless, reminded me a lot of my ninja1000 torque
mate! the xsr900 has driving modes and traction control settings. u should have mentioned what mode you were on and most importantly what traction mode you were on or if you were deactivating it because in TC 2 the bike is fighting to keep the front wheel down and not wheelie. bottom line: if you weren't in A mode and TC off then this was not fair for wheelie testing.
Torque is where all the fun is at. That's why the streetfighter/naked bikes are selling like hot cakes. And it's also why I own a GSXS1000F. On paper HP is nice but there's no substitute for torque. Your dad choose wisely. Peace
I've ridden both the FZ-09 and Z900. Honestly the Z900 is superior. Smooth as butter engine, chassis is solid, planted, and provides such reassuring feedback about traction. Throttle is very linear and super easy to modulate. Gear ratios are spot on, transmission is slick as snot, and torque is everywhere. 3 extra liters of fuel is a plus. Power to weight ratio after the usual mods is actually higher than a stock Z1000.
I bought this bike as transportation not knowing a thing about it. I just back off a click when I feel the front end getting light but the scariest part is the bike wants to throw me if I let my concentration wane just for a second
Been super busy the last few weeks but I'm back in action! Thanks for 35k peeps! 👊🏻😈
Yep......XSR900 will wheelie purty easy!! Your Dad did good choosing that bike.
Two Wheel Dawg no doubt! He's got good taste 👌🏻
Awesome. What kind of pipe does the bike have? It sounds so nice.
I’ve got exactly the same bike even the anniversary edition and the third gear is its best of all features
No doubt! My dad loves this bike
@@SALTxTHExWOUNDI’ve got a dad bike 🤣🤣
You have to turn off traction control if you want to keep the front wheel up

after market exhaust or stock because it sounds wonderful
Chris Cradock after market! I'll post a video on that here soon 👍🏻
SALTxTHExWOUND bike is a beast. idk if I'd rather have a xsr900 or an fz09. Heard xsr900 has a lot more tech
After market, Danmoto, and thanks!

Josueu oh man nice meeting you as well! Definitely hit me up sometime and we'll go ride!
Turn the TCS off...then it will wheelie
A torque monster!! "He's ALWAYS out riding on the weekends!" yup, that's me on mine! every chance I get.
It has a good flat torque curve but doesn't come close to being a torque monster
What is your exhaust ?
Really really good sound !!
try turning off the traction control you can't keep the front end on the ground.i know i have one just like except for your cool mirrors.what kind of bar end mirrors are they?
XSR900's torque is a nice straight line no matter the gear, something I wish my bike had.

Hey thanks man! appreciate that!
the way it keeps coming down on the wheelies looks like you had TCS on 2 maybe 1, need to hold that shit up for 2 sec to turn TCS off and then put it in mode A....shit comes up without the clutch
First video of yours I've seen and noticed you're in Brooksville! Are you going down tomorrow?
chris yep that was in brooksville, actually out of town the next 2 weeks but we typically ride up there about every Sunday
Cool. I saw your video because of your dad's bike. I have an XSR too. I'll say hi when I see you two there!
my bike love seeing reviews on it:)
jamoser95 you made a great choice!
Me too!! Just bought one yesterday (June 30, 2018) and I love it!!
@@stellastarr69 Bought mine exactly a week after you. Same colour with full Akrapovic exhaust. Absolutely in love
U should try the mt-10 then , 3 gear and wheelies without even touching the clutch
Yamaha has come out with some really innovative bikes over the last couple of years. Try an FZ10 and you will know acceleration and wheelies
Joe Smith no doubt! I rode the old fz1 years ago so I can only imagine the new upgraded one!
Is this with stock exhaust?
Is that the stock exhaust? :O
You live around there?

Love my 2017 FZ-09!

Bringing home a Z900 tomorrow. :P 125 hp and 73 ft-lb.

MannyMoto ye practise. i cant wheelie cause im in practise mode lol
Jonas Fridlund my advise dude is start with 1st or 2nd gear pop ups and get used to using the foot brake when needed and your feet staying on 👍
yea i got a 125 pop them up in 1st and ALWAYS have my fot on the brake
Sweet bike FOSHO
DTD RIDER ohhhh yea!
if he had a nickle for every time he had to "yank it every time to get it up"...lol

I bought this bike as transportation not knowing a thing about it. I just back off a click when I feel the front end getting light but the scariest part is the bike wants to throw me if I let my concentration wane just for a second
Gets on unfamiliar model. Figures out how to start the engine. Proceeds to try wheelies for 3 miles. Returns. Oh! It can do motorcycle stuff too?
Congrats on the 35K Salt.
Here's to another 35K and the rest.
You need to work on those wheelies a bit. lol😎
Sleepingdragon 1 thanks bro! And yes I do, not as smooth as they are on my 750 huh? 😂
Beautiful
Wheelies????
Brandon Autran always
