- So I try to make new Wheelie tip videos every so often based off of the major questions I get on my part 1, 2, and 3 how to wheelie videos. This comment arises a lot of question so I thought I would cover it briefly. Thanks for watching!

Adding throttle at the end of the wheelie also helps bring the front end down gently instead of slamming down. Preserve them fork seals. Sweet video. Sweet sounding machine
Good point! Thanks for watching bro!
Thats what I was thinking he was gone say
Just got my Yamaha R3 2016 off my bro. And am trynna get my wheelies down and be able to hold them. It’s so satisfying getting the front wheel up
Right on! congrats on the new bike!!
Happy Easter everyone! Hope you all have a wonderful day! 😁
Thanks a lot mate. Tomorrow I am going to try my first wheelie!
Salt i got a Kawasaki Ninja ZX 1400 2017 how would you recommend me doing Willy's
u covered it perfectly! that's exactly how I learned it.. balance point is right past that oh shit point on my bike. staying on the throttle not only helps with tank slapping but also keeps u from blowing ur fork seals when u get in that 10-12 o clock range. good video man 👌
I agree bro. Good video. I was getting close to balance point on my r6 but since I've gotten my R1 I feel like I have to relearn everything haha. Chasing the wheelie it is
Loved the video! I'm almost done with the break-in period on my L7 750, and I can't wait to start learning wheelies.
sweeeeeeet! Congrats on the new bike!
cool I appreciate all the wheelie tips. i'm slowly trying to learn.
That's what I love about Florida, riding almost year round. Looks like north Tampa area. In addition to throttling as the front comes down, keep the front wheel straight when landing (handle bars) even with one another, this will prevent massive vibration (tank slapper) from migrating through the bike, if it's bad enough, it'll high side you right off the back.
Excellent video and teaching style! I never know how to word it when people ask. I have never done a balance point wheelie. I start out in 2nd, blip the throttle, fan the clutch, when it pulls up, I keep accelerating and shifting through the gears until I'm doing 147mph in a wheelie. When I bring it down, I do exactly what you said and power out of it, but by then my front wheel has stopped spinning and when it makes contact with the street, it puts a 40 foot long skid mark and smoke (like an airplane landing) I am scared to death of "balance point" wheelies though. Lol
couldn't agree more. chasing wheelies it's the safest and though in classes they will tell you to roll off the throttle in a tank slapper I have always just ripped the throttle to unweight the front as much as possible and put the bars how I wanted them before letting out. I had a dirtbike that for some reason or another really loved to get into tank slappers and I probably have had a million lol. Maybe only went down once or twice from them though.
Thanks Salt! Next time you load you and Heathers bikes in the back of the truck could you make a "how to" video out of it? The wife and I are planning a trip and I really HATE towing a trailer. Thanks man!
Yes sir I sure will! We actually will be doing that in about 4 weeks so I will try to get a video out for you asap! :)
SALTxTHExWOUND Thanks man! Keep up the good work 😎
New sub here, I have a 2015 fz09, did a full system exhaust, ecu flash, air intake, and tune. I used to do power wheelies. Just started with clutch it seems easier. Kinda nervous on trying standups.
Had a few good slappers myself on my c1 zx10r, worst 1 was coming down at 140, feet of the pegs bad and trying to tell my brain to open up and go faster when all you want to do is slow down is scary so a good tip I dab your back brake and let the bike shake as they are designed to self centre anyway.
I’d like to say my 954 has tank slapped on me twice and getting off the gas it came out of it on its own and I’m not a new rider but it has been my only rank slapped experience to this day it’s scary AF
Hi, IMO.. Tank slappers, the way i found works to get out of a tank slapper is to slam to throttle shut and slam it open, grabbing tank with knees and elbows.. this brings the wieght back off the front wheel, so easy to regain control..
If can afford a newish sports bike, buy a old cheap bike a stunt it and learn off road for hitting balance point.. power wheelies are fine can't get a loopie sticker if don't go passed balance point.. balance point wheelies = Loopie sticks :) (more often than not)
Hey, I needed this advice, thanks!
I0NIZ0R me too
Glad I could help, any other tips you guys would like to hear let me know :)
interesting...
I0NIZ0R subbing !
I notice countries either do one or the other.
Different styles even.in Australia we like to get to balance point straight away
Pop the clutch
Get it up quick
Tap brake if need be to stop it at balance point or close to it
Learn to keep angle as high as possible so you don’t gain too much speed
And just coastttttt
Speed is what kills
When I don’t get the right pop up I don’t usually bother chasing
I put it back down and try again
But very interesting hearing all the other theories
They all work on theory
But as you said
Chance of looping when getting to balance point
Ive once ever got so far 12 o clock (while sitting down though) that I had to lean in and hug my bike and back off throttle,I was sitting at balance point for a good 3 seconds with no throttle until I tapped the brake to bring me down
This is why I hate sit downs haha
This would definitely help a lot
Tank slapper are scary as fuuuuu went down at 65 mph after hitting a series of big dips in the road almost like washboard on steroids haha anyway ride safe on those back roads!
I've found the brand of bike matters for me. I can wheelie my Gixer 600 race bike at ballence point pretty consistently, but my Zx-10r is down right scary at ballence point, but has the juice to chase long ones.
nice advise thank you fellow rider! am trying to learn to wheelies also
nice tips...I am learning this year...fingers crossed
you got this bro! just practice practice practice
Hey buddy ( happy easter)
awesome video and great wheelies bro
I have been trying to learn to do wheelies ,,I started by popping a wheelie in 1st from a dead stop and practicing the rear brake
I wanted to make covering the rear brake a habit,,my buddy chases wheelies ,but I want that balance point
enjoy these video's ,,ride safe my motorcycle brother ,,,liked ( thumbs up )
Glad you enjoyed the video, and balance point is a beautiful thing once you get the hang of it! ride safe bro! :)
Salt like your videos...but for some people you mite wanna do one on replacing fork seals and putting on bandages!lmao...thanx
lmao this is true, I've personally never had to replace fork seals luckily, I'll do a video on how to avoid that though :)
I remember almost dying on my bike taking someone elses advice on lane splitting and following them then they stoped in front of me and i tryed to stop by using back brakes and bike locked up sending me wobling into the oncoming traffic. Good thing i composed myself and thought okay im not tryna die on a bike and definitely not a beginner 300 so i put both feet back onto the bike and tryed stoping again only this time using both brakes before hitting a car. I must of had angels cause when i look back i rember there being a car like 2 feet away from me hitting it in front of me but when the bike went down and threw me over i dont remember any car being near me when i picked the bike up some how and this all happend in less then 15 seconds. Its crazy cause one minute there was a car in front of me and when i picked the bike up no car in sight in the opposite lane. My only advice to beginner riders is dont listen to anyone and move at your own pace i almost died listening to that idiot that tryed showing me how to lane split we was speeding threw traffic and i told that guy that day who had never seen before meeting him at a red light that i was new to riding and just got my bike out the shop the other day and i was just following along and boom like that in the blink of an eye your life flashes before you.
Happy Easter !! God Bless You and ur Family Salt.....Besafe Always ♡♡♡
Fantastic tips thanks Dude. Great video as always, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching! :)
hapoy easter bro great vid ive got my first gear whoolies doen solid balance point and run till almost redline
sweet man that's awesome! keep practicing and you'll be a pro before you know it :)
Your tutorial vids are really good. Could you do one on cornering/a safe way to become a better rider, as far as technique and body positioning etc.
thanks Doug, I'll put that on my list of videos to make and try to get to it soon :)
SALTxTHExWOUND Sure thing bro
You are a genious teacher😘😘😘💘💘💘
Technically "balance point" is the point where the bike is coasting in a wheelie not using the gas or brakes at all, if you're on the rear brake you're behind balance point, if you're on the throttle at all your under balance point, I've got a couple vids on my RUclips on dirtbike wheelies (same exact concept as a street bike or ANY bike for that matter, even pedal bikes)
Back break is KEY
I’ve always been bad at wheelies but I test rode a ktm500 and found my balance point and could pop them up no problem. Now the next thing is working to afford 10k on a dirtbike that’s gonna be harder than wheelying lol.
Great advice! Keep up the great vids bro!
great video. You are awsome bro. Please ride safe and do safe wheelies ;p
I have a CR450F and to do wheelies on that bike it is easiest than to ride it....you are the suzuki legend...your best fan george from cyprus
thanks man, I love the crf450 btw :)
i Told to my uncle today that i was going to fallow his path long years ago until he stopped because he made a family with his girlfriend. i told him, i am going to get a Bike and take the MSF course this summer because you're the answer of my happiness. and i cried and he hugged me
that is a great story! good luck brother!
thank you!
I live your vlogs my dude very informative let's get some bike night vids
Does a full tank of gas affect how you do wheelies? I just start doing wheelies last fall and it seems like I need a lot more throttle and clutch to wheelie with a full tank of gas. For me it's a lot easier with 3/4 tank or less. Kinda of pisses me off with a full because I dont feel as consistent.
New sub! Enjoyed your wheelie tutorials...I wanna try so bad but not on my new baby lol!! Gonna find me a cheap 600 to practice on!! hahaha
I've chased wheelies higher-up but I guess I haven't looped it yet because of not caring about balance point, and chasing wheelies at balance point is the safest because I been doing this for 25 year's and I been riding since I was 5 motorcross dirtbike riding to the streets Bikes, it's easier on a supermoto or a dirtbike because THERE a lot lighter!!!
love your videos
Thank you :)
More wheelie videos they are the best
will do! thanks for watching :)
I wish I had this advice yrs. ago heheehe I could get it up by chasing it up, but geeeez coming down literally use to scare the shitttts outta me heheeh great vid. ;)
haha yeah when I first started doing them years ago I slammed a few down and scared the shiz outta me, also had a few tank slappers from not throttling out and not keeping my bars straight. thanks as always ReRe :)
My pleasure, keep doin wat u do GREAT AWESOME VID'S !!! as always Besafe ;)
Love it a million times
Enjoyed the ride Bro. Nice countryside.🎱
Damn great advice bro can't wait to get the bike together to start learning again 👊🏻😈
thanks bro, yeah man we need to get some ride time in here soon!!
What part of Florida do you live, I'm in Daytona Beach. Should get a dual vlog in. Nice vids.
Serious question, why don’t you chase in first?
Good advice man!
thanks bro!
Thanks for the tips Im trying to learn to wheelie right now. What speed are you going right before you clutch while in 2nd gear ( I have the same bike). Im doing baby wheelies right now. Also are your arms relaxed when you wheelie? I feel like Im turning the handle bars a little while up, which I know is really bad.
In 2nd gear I believe I'm around 45-50mph when I clutch it up on my 750cc and yes my arms are fairly relaxed but you want to keep a good grip on the bars. the more you practice the better you'll get though :)
SALTxTHExWOUND Thanks man! I'll give it a try I think I was going a little to slow. Do you do any riding in Polk county?
Great vids. Just got back on a motorcycle recently and I like your perspective on riding etiquette and such. Gotta ask, you made a reference to Bragg, were you prior Group or Regiment?
I do wheelies years now...(I own a zx10R 2009 atm) I am afraid to get to balance point I always chase wheelies at 180-190 with 3rd gear or 140-180 with second gear...but I almost always drop it harder than I wanted too... I try to change from 2nd to 3rd gear and lose balance the bike goes down...u give some pretty good advises! tnks for the video!
I'm not exactly chasing...I use clutch and get instant to balance point and cause I'm kinda afraid I leave the throttle and then as it falls I chase the wheelie...
Y’all wear proper gear!be safe!shits not for everyone!👍
Great videos, how about doing one on counter steering.
Thanks, and I'll try to work on that here shortly :)
Is it totally pointless to do wheelies in first gear? It seems like the bike doesn't have enough power in higher gears.
Power wheelies in first are good, clutching the wheelie and chasing it out is also good, but what I think he meant is doing a wheelie and achieving balance point in 1st is dangerous because the throttle is too choppy, so it’s likely that if you give it a little too much throttle you’ll come off the back
Its because of the CC of the Bike. If you have a 300 CC motorcycle tried on that then if you have a friend that has a thousand CC Tri power wheelie read it don't even need to use the clutch the higher the CC the more power that's why everyone starts on a 600 or a 300 because it easier to learn on more powerful bike also have ear will be a lot harder on to do the wheelie Chase if you're just getting used to driving a motorcycle so I hope this helps
You can do second gear wheelies consistently on a 125 if you try hard enough.
1st gear wheelies are too choppy to learn on. Second gear at like 25 mph is best because it’ll be smooth and you are less likely to loop the bike.
Hey man I'm trying I enjoy wheelies but I can't balance them every time I balance them I either loop it or bring it down pls do one on a dirt bike .
Your wheelie vids are very informative. Thanks for that.
Thank you Jason, Going to try to work on putting out a few more tip videos since most people are starting to get back into the riding season again :)
well done vid sir.
Never had it happen but when I did a powerstart I did a wheelie in first gear not meaning too on a ninja 300 ex it was cool I was kinda doing a quarter mile race with a 08 Suzuki Bandit but yeah he didn't shift properly and he went into neutral because he wasnt use to doing quick shifting I called him power shifting but now he's used to it because we went on back roads in the country around 12 in the afternoon till about 5:30 teaching him how to quickly shift on my ninja 300 he was useing my ninja 300 well i was useing my friends Yamaha R1 showing him quick tips before I take him amd a couple friends to my friends place where he has a lot of property and he built a track in his backyard that he uses for his practicing when he's drifting his souped up Mazda RX7 so they had tons of fun there but next year I have my best friend who is my brother i never had he got a 2013 ninja Kawasaki for his first bike because in my opinion compared to the cbr300r and the Yamaha R3 it's the best starter bike because it's clutch friendly and it's great for beginners because you don't really feel all the power until you're in the high RPM range 5000 and 6000 and up that's when you'll really feel it if youre a beginner two motorcycles in the sports bike section another great bike when you learned how to properly drive and handle a 300 you can move up to a 600 for me I prefer the Yamaha R6 because I like the power behind the throttle I don't know I never have to use it I just feel safe knowing that there is power to the bike I don't need so reminds me to be safe but I really enjoy taking the Yamaha R1 out when me and my group of friends go out for a long drive down windy roads they use their Ducati's some with their CBR-RR also my one friend with his custom stunt bike that happends apella and his GSXR
I assume that a short clutch lever helps a lot when trying to wheelie?
MrFLbreakz yeah, it does
Happy Easter to u n yours Sir.
thank you!
my twin 650 will not clutch up in 2nd at all. Like I'd have to yank it and lean back.. I think the gearing is too tall. 1st seems to be my only option.
hey man, I like your videos,...!!!
grettings from Guatemala...!!!
thanks bro!
great vids
Great Video. Really informative :)
thanks!
I have a 2020 650 ninja. Can I reach balance point on this bike and after reaching balance point, is the bike capable of staying up there?
absolutely!
@@SALTxTHExWOUND thanks bro
RIP THE FLESH, SALT THE WOUND HAHAHAHA
i get wheelie on 1 gear bt it juts get wheelie nd again get down...how do i balance it... nd move on for long wheelie?
learning wheelie is easy with big rear sprocket ???
thanks
hey salt would you recommend getting a 17' 750 or a 16" 1000 gsxr for a cheaper price ? both would new and have no miles on them. thanks for the help
If the price is the same I'd say go for the 1000, I got a great deal on my 750 otherwise I may have gone with the 1000 but no regrets I love my 750 😄
SALTxTHExWOUND. Thanks for the advice . keep making great videos
thanks bro and will do :)
I was just curious what clutch lever you are using?
I get them from the2wheels.com very good pricing and quality finish
Damn you and your great content. 👊
haha thanks bro!
Salt whats a good speed for 3rd gear standup.
rickey maloy depends on the bike, on my 750 I clutch up 3rd at about 55mph
SALTxTHExWOUND yeah 750, 3rd seems much more difficult than 2nd lol. Great videos man!
couldn't have said it myself!
I have a hyabusa I want to learn to wheelie on, I can power wheelie on my 450 dirt bike but I haven't been able to get the wheel up on my busa and advice?
Clutch up with more throttle. Busa's have a longer wheelbase than other sport bikes and it's lower to the ground, you'll have to give it more power to really get that wheel up there. That doesn't mean crank the shit out of it though. Just gradually apply more throttle when you clutch up. It's the safest and in my opinion the only way to learn. Make mental notes of where you're bringing your RPM's up to when you clutch up so you'll know where the sweet spot is to comfortably pop it up.
Chasing wheelie is more dangerous when learning in my opinion,
I suggest using a dirtbike to practice going over the balance point.
When you do it on an expensive racebike, hit balancepoint, freak out and put your feet on the ground, youre fucked.
Practice at slow speeds on a bike that you're fine with crashing.
what gear was you in on them wheelies?
Where is the balance point wheelie like in the thumbnail???
3rd gear wheelie? You must be cranking that throttle? So do you coast at the Rpms that you want and then clutch up? I don't know if that makes sense.
He usually puts his left foot on the passenger peg for 3rd gear wheelies. Doing that puts less weight on the front, which lets the front come up much easier. As far as RPMs go, it really depends how high your wheelie is.
I do stand ups in 3rd gear like the guy above stated with my left foot on the back foot peg, I can even get this bike up in 4th gear. if you ride a 600 or smaller bike I'd stick to 2nd gear, I clutch in at about 5k rpm and coast at about 7-8k rpm
SALTxTHExWOUND thanks man! Another question for ya; about how fast are you going when your in 3rd gear? Everything is stock too right? Sprockets?
SALTxTHExWOUND I have 2008 750 and I'm struggling... Well not struggling but compared to you yeah lol. Videos are super helpful.
spencer beekman yeah everything is stock, in 3rd gear I clutch up at about 5-6k rpm so around 55mph
Does that bike have stock gearing?
Hey, if there's is a chance i will like to ride with you.
Like your videos, ride safe and fun. Hope to see you man, cool videos
You live in Tampa ??
You live in Fl?
I just 2 days ago bought my 7th sport bike and I've never been able to wheelie, I admit it must be fear because at times in thinking I do enough but obviously if i was it'd be in the air. 3 bikes ago I had a Ducati 999r fila and I couldn't wheelie that, I'm sure people are laughing like crazy, a 1000 cc twin and no wheelie well convinced something was wrong, a fellow rider said let me show u it will wheelie and not jsut wheelie but power up into a stand up, no clutch! Thinking there's no way he got on my bike flipped a U and powered up first try and rode it out in a stand up as far as I could see. Um myth blown and I felt retarded! Well my last bike a built R1 I couldn't wheelie lol my brother in law did 3 standups in a row in front of my house. I'm dying to wheelie! It's killing me! The feeling even on a bicycle is awesome lol wel I just bought my latest machine 2 days ago and am dedicated to learn to wheelie, it's a wheelie machine from all the videos I've seen, a 2017 Yamaha FZ10, a naked retuned cross plane crank R1 with larger rear sprocket and torque from the bottom to top, if I can't wheelie that I have serious problems. Im convinced its truley just fear of wrecking. I can't imagine any other reason? Im going to get familiar with the bike a bit more and then I'm following your vids and doing it! Wish me luck!
Lingenfelter Zee Ohh Six good luck man and congrats on the new bike!
Lingenfelter Zee Ohh Six just practice first gear power wheelies.. get a good feel for it. Try on some back road with no one around. May be an embarrassment issue not wanting to mess up around others?
Lingenfelter Zee Ohh Six power that MT10 up in 2nd. The wheelie control will bring you back down.
actually i think the best way to learn is on very small and light bikes...once you are good at it then you move up to those fancy expensive bikes. I mean to get rid of the fear of dropping it it's better to have a 500 dollars beater then a 20.000 brand new one. Just my 2 cents

The waybto avoid tank slapper is ..... stabilizer...
i looped it 😢
GPR OR SCOTTS.... NO MO TANK SLAPPIN... Only other way is throttle thru it..
slamming down blowin forks
Dude do you know what your talking about? Tank slappers happen when you bring the front wheel down slightly turned ... or if your shock absorbers are not evenly matched hydraulic pressure or spring pressure wise. When doing a wheelie & you bring the front wheel down slightly off straight. One shock absorber compresses before the other slightly . Then the two shock absorbers compress & rebound at different rates left to right . This is exaggerated by the inertia of the front wheel. ( Experment for you to try : Get a small bicycle wheel spin the wheel holding the axles with your arms straight out in front of you ... now push the axle forward and backwards with both your left & right arms 3-5 mm. The faster the wheel is spinning the more exaggerated the problem. Imagine your arms are the shock absorbers). That is what causes tank slap. The reason why keeping the gas on eliminates the problem is by lifting the front wheel slightly you are taking the pressure off the shocks then putting them back down evenly. Eliminating the uneven oscillations of your shock absorbers. The best way to avoid tank slap when doing a wheelie is make sure your front wheel is straight when you bring it down. You should also be at 3/4 to full throttle as you are about to touch the ground so you front end doesn’t come down so hard. Just thought you might like to know the theory on tank slap. Also why you should get you front shocks checked if you are a wheelie or track day junkie. If one shock absorber has a leak ... chances of a tank slap situation is med to high. Your video was pretty good ... Perhaps you could do a video on this.
chase wheelies not dreams
I chase the fuck out of my wheelies
Same. Better technique than getting to BP.
Wasn't the last time you had a tank slapper at 100mph
last one I had on camera was, I had 1 with the 750 when i first got it bc I wasn't used to it yet and made a stupid mistake but luckily learned from that real quick
Buuuut....Salty.... Everyone know that chasing a wheelie is the coolest way to wheelie! It's not a wheelie unless you're setting it down at 100+ :D
DoubleT90T this is true! And if you can do a wheelie you're a stunt rider! Lol
I hit balance point and looped it. it was glorious. hit up @the.speed.of.darkness for pictures of my road rash on Instagram lol
ohhhh no really?! :(
SALTxTHExWOUND yeah. poor BMW. LOVE YA SALT.
I recommend getting a finger brake if you're trying to do sit downs at balance point 😂😂😂. I was playing with it for a good block like it's a stunt bike. my fucking toes slipped past the footbrake. i knew exactly then i was fucked. slid like 10 meters on my back and elbow.
If want to wheelie longer.. Change to next gear ?
No, if you’re at balance point you can wheelie for as long as you want without switching gears.
Have you played Wheelie King 3D?
Grom guy's disregard this video lol
