She knocks this song out of the park. Dazzling rendition of "I Feel Pretty." Back in 1963 my high school Farragut did this Bernstein song. Memories

Finally someone sings this song in a way that shows its true potential. Much better than the usual B'way approach.

Why does it seem that nobody there except the conductor and Joyce are feeling pretty?

    • @gabik33333

+Nada Intelectual Perhaps it was a concert for somewhat "difficult" audience and only few believed in its success. There are some members of the orchestra, feeling quite pretty though. Nevertheless, the performance was beautiful and Joyce - I guess - spreaded her "feeling of joy" around. I'm sure it stays in memory of many of the audience. Takes a great artist to do that. :)

Even though she's a mezzosoprano, she also hits notes that are lower and higher than the average mezzosoprano range that are in the alto range and soprano range.

When a singer sings the words to a song, the lyricist is supposed to get credit. So, this should be: music by Leonatd Bernstein; words by Stephen Sondheim.

In my opinion, this is horrible. So many damn singers think Broadway musicals are operas gone bad and they have to correct this mistake. It is not an opera. Maria is a simple girl, and this should be sung simply.
