So, finally I testride the Shotgun yesterday. What a blast, for the whole 30 minutes I couldn't get rid of my grin! With me being 6'5 / 1,96m quite comfortable, the dealer told me that getting one cm of additional height wouldn't be an issue by using some raisers. The drive itself was gorgeous, good engine with sufficiently enough power, beautiful sound (stock) and a handling that is OK (I'm riding a Africa Twin). Natural speed was around 95 km/h with no problems at all to go also 130 km/s (wrong turn and suddenly I was in danger to miss my return time). With the c. 47BHP overtaking is again a process that should be done with care and attention, one time I 'battled' me with small SUV, me going 100, she approximately 97 but not giving up, and had limitless fun. During the drive I felt a bit like Lawrence of Arabia on his bike (not really, this would be inappropriate) or better like a motorbike in the 50's or 60's, just having fun. A feeling I missen during the last months and years while riding my modern bike.
Nice review! I enjoyed how you switched to the show room at the dealership and showed us the different colours when you were pulled over doing the walk around. And also appreciated on the ride how you had the rider view main screen and view of you top corner. Wish other vloggers would try this. Question for you, would you tour on this one or are you better off on the super meteor? Thanks…
Good day, good sir, I just finished watching and listening to your review and promptly subscribed. Just last week, I put earnest money down with my local Royal Enfield dealer for exactly what you test road. That plasma blue really sealed the deal for me. I really enjoyed hearing your observations about the bike... and I'm particularly grateful to know your height/weight, as I'm 6'-2" and 13 stone. Needless to say, I'm pretty excited. I'm planning to use my Shotgun to ride to the Grand Canyon. Fyi... my current ride is a 2019 Conti 650 w/ 22.5k miles on the clocks. that I will NOT be trading in! Thanks for a terrific review. Carl in the motor city.
Great vid. Hi Lofty i noticed no rear reflector only noticed because on replacing the number plate to a smaller one on my Shotgun the factory reflector dangled down like on piece of liquorice so that had to be modified. But back to the bike i was stuck between the Blue or the Gray and went with the Gray i'm 6/11 i think it fit's me well the pegs being more forward has helped me as i had a knee replacement last year but i wouldn't know it with the Shotgun yes a great bike like everyone else i'm waiting for the sun to shine happy biking everyone
sorry mate just read your reply feel a bit of a prat i'm 5/11 oops i forgot to say before i had to lengthen the gear leaver a inch and 1/2 (size 13 feet) they must have small feet i India did the same with the RE interceptor happy biking@@theloftybiker3090
Hi there I'm 6ft 6 and the shotgun looks a bit cramped for me. i will stay with my very roomy super meteor. When you say about the harsh rear suspension the super meteor was the same but with a bit of adjustment and 2000 miles on the clock it's now great. Great review as usual. Thank you.
I'm 6'4" and 100kg (~16st) and I only just fit on my Bullet. If I put luggage or a passenger on the back, it's probably overloaded. Go through rear tyres too quickly. Ta for the lovely ride!
Hi I was lucky to ride one yesterday in the dry nice bike the only negative was the hard rear suspension but I expect you could adjust that or change the rear shocks Overall not bad at all
I'd prefer the dual instruments from the Interceptor instead of the combined speedometer / tachometer and small tripper, they look unbalanced to my eyes.
Yes the interceptor does have twin clocks, but all the others have this style of set up, from the Hunter, Meteor and Super Meteor. It's the way Enfield do design. The Himalayan is similar too....I suppose its a taste thing.....thanks for watching
New to your channel and love your style of doung these reviews. As I'm also c. 6"5' your ppinoon on fit etc. is super helpful for me. But am struggling a bit with your accent.
Would it compare with my Honda cb500x fancy a change from an adventure bike no hand guards no crash bars required. Or would I miss the fabulous fuel economy and range ? Maybe I should keep both for while ? Oh too many decisions like going into a restaurant and too much on the menu
I changed my 2019 cb500x first for a Super Meteor and now have a Shotgun. The 650 engine is incredible, I think it will be a future classic. Same power as the cb500x on paper but loads quicker in real life and still with great fuel economy. The Meteor did make me waver if I had made the right choice. The Shotgun I know I've made the right choice. As much as I loved the cb500x I would not go back!
RE 650 should have hydraulic valve adjustment and belt drive. I get 100,000+ out of a belt. All i have to do is change the fluids and filter in my driveway in 30 minutes. I have had my Sportster for 25 years and 400,000 miles on the original engine. I have had my Triumph Tr-6 with a hard tail for 40 years. All bikes should have dual discs for safety.
Yes but it would cost double....not £6500....you payes yer money and takes yer choice.....I thinks it's great value for money.......thanks for watching
@@theloftybiker3090 The old RE 500 had hydraulic valve adjustment and a Kickstarter features that were deleted from the new 350. At the factory level it would have been nothing since it was a brand new engine design . They make it more work to adjust the valves than it has to be. On my BSA singles and my Triumph twins is to unscrew the valve caps to get to the valves. Take the tank off? Nope! No thanks .
@@frankmarkovcijr5459 I do not disagree at all....its cost and meeting EU type approval.....manufacturers & Governments don't want home mechanics......Politics and Euros 😉
A beautiful Classic motorcycle with cheap Roger Ramjet decals 😮 stuck on the tank and side casings but these can be removed. I just can't believe WHY they think putting the 650 on the tank looks cool, it doesn't. The classic design is perfect but the R on the tank is Rediculous.
