I was being a little sarcastic... My comment was tongue-in-cheek. I'm a fan and can remember having this on video since it was on TV (1987 I think)and watching it often. Cheers.
back then he was more funny noises and impressions rather than jokes, how much hes improved bet the people in the crowd didnt expect him to go on to achieve what he did
@mozmootar because I wanted to see where he had come from. unfortunately, its the same place he is now. BTW, you really are doing mr evans a lot of credit with your sharp and intellectual wit. well done F-
@lovelifesolo I can honestly say I don't know Lee's age in this vid, but he got married when he was 20, and he's been happily married ever since. He'll be 47 in Feb. :) (hope that helps)
Being from London, Lee Evans' accent is just normal to me, but with Billy Connolly, Ardal O'Hanlon, even Peter Kay, their accents somehow add to the humour! As for accent being a barrier, I'd say it can be - eg. my non-English wife didn't understand a lot of Lee Evans' stuff for a long time. So I thought maybe the Americans might struggle with it too, esp as he uses very British phrases, words and analogies, and so they might not appreciate it like we do. If they've even heard of him!
He's hilarious now! The funniest stand up of the past 15-20 years easy, but this wasn't very funny was it!! I suppose he was finding his feet in the trade here.
I dunno... the movies weren't his strong point, his standup is. Don't know how well it translates for non-Brits though, it's very English and his accent is probably not so easy for everyone. He's only young in this one, he developed his act well later on. And he avoids the repetition so many other comics seem to favour; apart from reusing a few one-liners when he's warming up, all the standup DVDs seem to have new stuff on them.
Yeah. Come back in a few years son when you've had a couple of Holywood movies under your belt. Maybe get a bit more manic with the physical stuff. Then we'll talk...
