Joe speaks with Joann Carnahan, co-founder fo the East Central Iowa chapter of the Iowa Draft Horse and Mule Association. (www.iowadrafthorse.com, / east-central-iowa-draf... , / iowadrafts .
She talks about her association and its mission. she explains that the site of the event was donated by Lloyd Brown and i includes a small museum from which they use the antique draft powered implements for the events.
They are joined by Bob Davidson who explains their goal to get more young people interested in draft horse power and the history of farming.
We see a large steam powered tractor which was used in the fields. Close up footage of a conveyor and corn sheller as well as a one horse sweep powered square baler in action.
Joe interviews Charles Rigby a demonstrator of all things "Mountain Man". He sets up a camp using the camping equipment of that era. He also shows us his vintage guns and explains the various ignition methods including ball and cap and flint lock.
Brown Farm Pioneer Days is held annually during the last full week in July.
