I started watching “how to crochet” videos during Covid lockdowns in 2020 and quickly became obsessed! I am still not great at it, but this was one of my favourite tutorials! I only found it because a friend asked me to try making her a pickle and I found this! She loves her pickle! Thx!
You are amazing!!. Thank you SO much!!!. So many times videos say they are beginner friendly..you watch them to find out they are NOT!!. Thank you so much for making a beginner video of how to do this!!!❤
Amy X school bus driver ThankYou for teaching me how to make the pickles ! I Will be watching you I subscribed ! I sounded creepy I an a 64 year old x bus driver 😁 grandma in a wheelchair .😄 I love it and you ❤
Thanks for subbing! ❤️ and I’m so glad you enjoyed!!! I loved my bus drivers! They always took care of me since I got on the wrong bus more than a few times 😅
Thank you, thank you! I just made one for my daughter for Christmas - I added arms and the "emotional support pickle" sign lol along with a squiggly on top for the stem... not sure I can can wait until Christmas to give it to her! You are a really great teacher, and I really enjoyed your video! I might have to do your corn next ;-)
AWWWWWW!!!! Thats awesome!!!!! I hope your daughter loves it!!!🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️ you’ll have to be good and wait until Christmas to give it to her or else she’ll have nothing to open on Christmas! 🤣🤣🤣I’m so glad you found this video helpful!!!
YAYAYAYAYA!!!! I’m so glad you enjoyed and found this helpful!! Tutorials take a long time to make and edit, but it’s all worth it if I know it’s helpful! ❤️❤️❤️
so cute. mine looks a bit like a baby because of the wart placement ( 2 of them look like ears and 1 looks like a curl of hair ) love how it turned out :)
Just got some green yarn on sale for St. Patty’s, have some small safety eyes I’ve been trying to figure out what to do with and have an old giant plastic jar I’ve saved… I think I’m making a jar full 😂
I have a technical question. Is there reason you are not closing your bobble stitch usually it is done with a YO draw up 3-4-5 loops then close with a slip stitch. I noticed you just going into your next stitch. I started and stopped to think if maybe the bobble will be too big after stuffing? Or why do you do it this way. It is a habit for me but if I need to overcome I will.
hey! I love this video but i have a question. if i had 26 stitches instead of 24 bc i accidently did an inc does that mean i have to restart or when it comes to the dec part do i have to do more decreases than what it says to do? like if it says 6 dec do i do 8 or will that not work? im new to corcheting so pls answer.!
I've got 2 suggestions! 😊1. you could simply purchase thicker yarn and a larger hook-say size 7 jumbo yarn with a 10mm hook. 2. You could add more stitches when you're increasing at the top (when we're making the circle that starts the pickle). Notice how each of the rows is increasing in multiples of 6-if you follow the same pattern/increase sequence, you can increase it to 36, 42, 48, and so on! 👌
I haven’t actually made a jumbo pickle yet, but I bet you’d be more than fine with 2 ball of PXL. Since you can choose how long you’d like to make your pickle, having the extra ball is nice in case you wanted to go extra big!
How long does the pickle come out to be? I need it to be 5-6 inches, and i wanna make sure this tutorial matches that close enough where i can use it Yours looks adorable though, have a nice day!
This tutorial actually lets you determine how long you'd like your pickle to be! I know a lot of patterns are very precise of how many rows to do and where to place each wart, but this one is not. 😊 So you can totally make your pickle 5-6 inches using this video! ❤️
That depends on how thick you want your 3in pickle to be! This pattern expands the circle for 4 rounds. You may just want to do Rounds 1-3, and then do 1sc in each stitch until the pickle is 3in. 😊
I wish crochet math worked like that!!! If you go from 3st in R1 to 6st in R2, you won’t get a flat circular shape-you’d get a pointed cone shape. If you want to make it smaller, still use rounds of multiples of 6 to keep the top flat, so 6,12,18,24 but stop at either 12 or 18 instead of 24 and do the rest of the pickle body with bobbles wherever you’d like. 😊 Alternatively, you can do this entire pattern the same but use a smaller crochet hook and like size 3 sport weight yarn, so you’ll have a smaller pickle because you used a smaller yarn and crochet hook. 👍hope that helps!
@@merrymakes It did thank you i didn’t knoe that! im still new to chochting and this was the first thing i actully finished and it was very east to follow along. It turned out so good too!
Nope! As long as your crochet hook is the appropriate size for your yarn, you are good to use this video tutorial! The yarn label will have a recommended hook size, and I usually recommend sizing down so that your stitches are tighter together to better prevent stuffing from being seen! Hope that helps! ❤️
Going to make this cute pickle for the Granddaughter. I can't find what the size is of the finished pickle, according to your pattern. Can you give me an approx measurement. Thank you.
I’m so sorry I didn’t see your question sooner! 🙇🏻♀️ Typically the pickles I make end up around 6in, but you can choose to go longer or shorter if you’d like. 😊
Thank you. I made one with bulky yarn and a larger hook and the results were perfect. Thank you for the video and pattern. A quick and fun item to make.
I don’t have a PDF print out of this pattern, but the written pattern is in the description, so you can copy and paste it into a word doc! 😊❤️hope that helps!
Checking to see how “arms” could be added so it could hold the emotion support pickle sign. Probably easy but I’m a newbie and do better with instructions
Hmm… I think the most simple arms to make would be to just make some chains! Chain however long you want your arms and sew one end to the pickle and the other end to the sign! Hope that helps! 🥰❤️
I’m glad you enjoyed the tutorial! ❤️And thank you for the feedback! 🙏Haha I stopped adding music in my newer videos. Video editing definitely came with a big learning curve for me so apologies on the music!
It's Dec 14, 2023 and I made the pickle and the Santa hat from your videos 😘 Thanks for the excellent directions, very easy to follow 🥰
AWW! I'm so thrilled you made both!!! I hope you enjoyed!!! ❤️❤️❤️

My pickle came out SOOOO CUTE!!! Your video is awesome! Thank you!
I can't wait, I am about to try to make one. I don't crochet, I usually round loom projects. Wish me luck.
Thank you for clearly explaining the wart bobble stitch and invisible decrease ! 💚
I used a 2.75mm hook and made a little one for a keychain!! Love this, thank you!!
Awww! I’m so glad you loved it!🥹🔥❤️
@@merrymakes I made one big one like yours and 2 smaller ones!!! (used 2.5mm hook)
Love it! I successfully made this emotional pickle using your pattern. Thanks!

Hi! This is Sherry. Are there written instructions for crocheting the pickle? This would help me out so much
Love that idea of using the tail are a marker!
Yes! It’s handy since I always misplace stitch markers! 😂
Same!
Great tutorial 😊Thanks for the pickle idea. Made this for my daughter
AWW! I hope your daughter loves the pickle you made her!!! 😊❤️
Thank you so much for this pattern! I plan on using parfait chunky yarn in the color key lime for the pickle, hopefully it will be super cute .❤
Oooh!!! That sounds super cute!!!! I hope it went well!! ❤️👏🧶

thank you for this tutorial! so clear and easy! made some for my friends cause we call our group the pickle circle
OMG That’s great haha! I’m so glad that you’ll all have pickles!!! ❤️🥳
Is there a story behind why you call yourselves the pickle circle?
@@merrymakes haha we just randomly had a deep talk while eating not really good pickles so it just stayed 😌
Thank you , just finish make one
Thank you so easy to follow.
You are so welcome!❤️I’m glad it was helpful!!!
So clever! Do you have a PDF or source for the printed cards?
Please say yes😊
I do not have a source for printed cards. 🙇♀️
Thank you for posting such an easy to follow and informative tutorial. I loved this video and the way the pickle turned out.
You are so welcome! 🥰❤️
Can you name a specific worsted brand you prefer for this? It’s overwhelming when I go to the store. I’m not sure what to choose. Thanks so much.
Thank you for this tutorial !! I’ve made a pickle and I loveeee itttt. Hehehehe so cuteee. 🥰
I'm so glad! ❤️🥰
Thank you I just started crocheting Thursday and my moms birthday is on Monday
❤️❤️❤️I hope she enjoys the pickle you make for her!!!🥰
I made a mistake in my stitch count (too skinny on the bottom) and added arms… but overall pretty happy with my pickle ! Thanks for a great tutorial !
Just got some green yarn on sale for St. Patty’s, have some small safety eyes I’ve been trying to figure out what to do with and have an old giant plastic jar I’ve saved… I think I’m making a jar full 😂
Very cute project! What rows did you place the eyes between? Kind of looks like 10-11 in the finished one, but not 100% sure 😁 Thank you!
I did mine between 7 and 8.
Yes! I usually place my eyes between r10-11! But I think you can place your eyes wherever you’d like! 👍
I have a technical question.

This is awesome, if I wanted to make a bigger pickle, both in width and length what would be your suggestion? Thank you!
I've got 2 suggestions! 😊1. you could simply purchase thicker yarn and a larger hook-say size 7 jumbo yarn with a 10mm hook. 2. @@merrymakes i made 3 pickles
How many stitches did you do between each wart?
All done it’s sooo cute
for rows 5-35, do you chain one and then start a new row or just sc all around?
I just sc all around 👍 for this pattern, we’re crocheting in a spiral-not joined rounds, so no need to slip st/ch1 at the start of each row!
How do u make the saying or where do you get the saying that
Come with the pickle
Such a cute little pickle. thank you for the tutorial. what size eyes are you using?
1:11 😊 I’m using a pair of 6mm safety eyes
Hi! If I was doing this in a jumbo yarn (like Premier parfait xl) how many balls do you reckon it would take? Thanks!
I haven’t actually made a jumbo pickle yet, but I bet you’d be more than fine with 2 ball of PXL. Since you can choose how long you’d like to make your pickle, having the extra ball is nice in case you wanted to go extra big!

Hi! If I’m trying to make a three inch long pickle, how many stitches would you suggest starting with?
That depends on how thick you want your 3in pickle to be! This pattern expands the circle for 4 rounds. You may just want to do Rounds 1-3, and then do 1sc in each stitch until the pickle is 3in. 😊
if i wanted to make it smaller could i just divide the amount of stitches in half? like instead of doing 6 around the magic ring doing 3
I wish crochet math worked like that!!! If you go from 3st in R1 to 6st in R2, you won’t get a flat circular shape-you’d get a pointed cone shape.

@@elizabeth0478 YAY!!! I'm so glad!!! ❤❤
Love it
What brand of yarn is that?
Love this tutorial.
I believe this is big twist yarn that I purchased at Joann’s! ❤️
What happened if I don’t want to add warts ? Do I keep going with single c and then double in the same stitch? I’m just a bit confused
If you don't want to add warts at all, yes-continue making single crochets until your pickle is the desired length! 😊
Does it matter what size yarn/hook I use?

How can I add arms
do you have beginner ones?
If you're asking for additional beginner tutorials, I have a beginner friendly bao tutorial on my channel! ❤️
Have you ever crocheted a Christmas hat for the pickle?
NO BUT NOW I KNOW THAT THIS LITTLE PICKLE NEEDS A SANTA HAT FOR CHRISTMAS! I will make a video later this year putting a Santa hat on the pickle ❤️

What stitch are the warts?
They are bobble stitches 😊
Can you share the crochet pattern so I can write
It’s in the video description ❤

Pickles don’t have WARTS!!
They are spines. 😂😂
Isn’t an increase just a single crochet?

my circle became wave at round 4
idk what I did wrong but mine is bigger than this
Why can't I get this!😭I want to crochet so bad, but my fingers don't want to cooperate. 😭😭😭💔
Keep practicing. My sister tried knitting and found it easier. Good luck😊
It’s to hard do it easear
I do not like it
NOT beginner friendly for sure
NOT being rude but i just started and this was really easy
