- Birmingham was home to a basshead infested New Years Eve 2016! No better way to bring in the new year than with Bassnectar melting faces!! So glad Lorin decided to end 2015 and start 2016 with his version of Lights by Ellie Goulding.. oh and not to mention, Lorin gets the lasers out :) I will always remember how many lights there were when Bassnectar told everyone to put your lights up... truly amazing.. Hope this video can take you back to this magical night!
I was security for this event at the BJCC and it was the first concert I had ever been to. I had just broken up with my gf at the time and had moved back to Birmingham from a tumultuous and abusive romance in Detroit. I was 21 and homeless at the time, as my family wanted me to take the breakup as a lesson I guess and had been considering taking my own life. On the very last day of 2015, Bassnectar quite literally saved my life and I'll always be a fan of his for it. On January 30th I met the woman who is now my wife, and we brought our son into the world on January 5th, 2018.

Always come back for this at the beginning of the year. The countdown is such a rush and hits me right in the feels. But in a good/excited way.
