He seems to know a ton and has a lot of good info but its sometimes hard to get through a video cause he talks slow, repeats himself alot and is verbose.
Gary, love your videos, long time watcher, first time commenter. This has really helped and stopped me caring for a culture that looks nothing like my others where they literally cloud, this one grows but is flakey like the one you show here, so thank you! Really appreciate your videos, you cover so many subjects that are not found elsewhere. Would love to see more fail videos, not that I wish you bad luck! Seeing fails and helping us all recognise them is just really helpful. Wishing you love, happiness and prosperity! looks forward to your future vids! Baz, Scotland 🏴
Gary I'm so glad you're back!! A few times now I've thoroughly sprayed my syringes with iso only to realize the labels bled off... 🤣 It's so nice to know I'm not the only one who's done that. Had to try to remember which was which. A piece of scotch tape over the label works pretty good.
The cheap Temu thermal printers and labels work incredibly well. 12 to 15$ for a Bluetooth printer and 10$ for 1000 labels. I spray alcohol right in them many times and rhey dint change at all. I soaked one in alcohol for a few minutes completely submerged and it lightened but did not disappear.
Funny story - or not... I made an LC and it looked great, but got a dark spot in it - then two. It was made from agar not spore. I made 4 more LC jars and let them rest in the pressure cooker before using. All had growth without being inoculated. What I had in common with all 5 was using a decorative polished rock (boiled and pressure cooked) as a stir mechanism. Obviously, the rock was the source of contamination as I made LC with glass beads previously without issue. I have two more new ones with boro3.3 stoppers as stir bars. I hope this goes better.
Hey Gary, once you showed LC with bakterial contamnation. I did not (accoustically) understood what you are doing to clean these glasses up ?? Thankful greetings from Germany !
@9:47 - What sort of LC would have darker spots in it that semi-resemble spores? That example that you show has them, and you advise that looks healthy. Could you elaborate please? I have an LC (the one from the rock story) that looks somewhat like that example but with only 2 darker areas.
Going to try your Piopinni and Wine Cap cultures soon. Love the vids, some of the best info (esp on breeding) on youtube. What generation are your LCs? Plan to use each LC to make a grain "master" and g2g for spawn and just want to keep track of the generations.
@@FreshfromtheFarmFungi Thank you for this. My poor LC must be dizzy AF as I’ve been stirring overnight! This has been causing what I believe are mycelial micro fragments to create some turbidity & mimic contamination; which subsequent quality testing has negated. I wonder whether severely agitated agar sections can also cause some turbidity. From what I’ve observed bacteria or mould contamination remains suspended in the LC, whereas, the agar & or mycelia micro fragments settle out. Cultures which have had excessive agitation form, jiz like colonies at the bottom, whereas less agitated ones are more distinct confetti like segments.
You can easily make your own self healing injection lid for cheaper and no need to buy replacements you can just repair or make more very cheap and easy! Also don't use mushroom spawn bags use the jars for mushrooms spawn you can do this as a beginner all the way to semi commercial! Only use bags for commercial growing...
Bags are ideal for people with a small pressure cooker. By weight a lot more spawn will fit. Also, glass is expensive. Running consecutive PC cycles with low efficiency is expensive. I agree on making one's own lids but bags are not a bad idea for beginners.
both about the same (6-12 months are best - it may very strain to strain and as long as neither dry out or get contammed or freeze it can be much much longer (decades))
@@FreshfromtheFarmFungiyou can freeze LC syringes? I deal with P cubensis only. And it’s a tropical species- wouldn’t freezing kill the mycelium? I know heat over 105-6 F will kill it. I’d assume freezing would too
I'm already a decent cultivator and a graduate of microbiology, but I must say I learned a lot from your videos. Thank you so mush :)

I like those printed labels you use. I've peeled them off the syringe and stick them onto my LC lid. Good to see you!
Vert informative and professional video! I purchased the jar lids, amazing!
im sooo happy you are back..always a pleasure to watch a new video from you

Get some Edding 780 pens, they're alcohol-safe.
Gary! You’re awesome, keep rolling out the mind blowing content 🪶👁🍄

Your 16gauge needles are so much better quality than what I’ve been getting. Out of curiosity where do you get those?
Thank you very much Gary for your sharing, my greetings to you from Algeria🇩🇿☘️☘️.
I started an LC with a spore syringe successfully. It works well. But better if you have mycelium to start.

Hi Gary, this is an outstanding summary video. You have covered about 5 different vids worth of info. Thank you for your generosity kind Sir.
This is very helpful. LCs are amazing, a few threads of mycelium expands to a snow globe
Thanks for this great video.

wash them out with soap and water and let dry, some people autoclave them but it’s not necessary
@@FreshfromtheFarmFungi TNX ! You mean the glasses? But can I save the mycel or is it gone? Thinkt, it is gone and over, right?

Nice! They are first or second gen off
of the slants 👍 I usually start my king stropharia in Feb
The shirt is the coolest ever. It probably was a gift but would you happen to know where they can be purchased?
As always love your work , thanks.
Thanks! My friend got it for me here: tidd.ly/3jKlmUB
Can you please share a link to the vendors selling the IV LC setups that are similar to the one you said you bought at Lions Mane in Denver?

How many cc do you use to start a lc in a jar?
Hi Gary, what may I ask is your stirring regime?
I usually stir for a few minutes at a time once a day

Hey when you PC these myco lids (with the syringe filter/SHIP) do you foil them?
no
Nice. I have no experience with these filters so wasn’t sure. Thanks Gary
Hello, here from Uganda, in Dubai now. Qn is, how long can that LC syringe be kept? and which method is best for long term storage of mycelium
best method is with a slant like here: ruclips.net/video/ENKKEGbD1RY/видео.html but lc’s can last months or even years
If you fill a jar with 2 LC's together, does that create a new species of hybrid mushroom when it grows mycelium?
No
No. But you can cross strains among the same species. At least with p. Cubensis 😉
But you do it with spores. Not mycelium.
How long can mycelium last on a petri dish sealed and put in the fridge ?
How long can LCC last stored in the fridge?

@Gary how long do the syringes last in the fridge?
months to years it depends on strains, conditions, contamination control etc. but at least 6 months if maintenance is done correctly
Thank you!
Good sir.. what size stirbar is best?
it depends on the container
Do LIquid cultures need to be in the dark for the mycelium to grow?
no they will be fine just out of direct sunlight as UV can damage the mycelium
@@FreshfromtheFarmFungi thank you
Bit worried about how sterile your environment is, see video of flying insect from 5:35
good catch, rogue fungus gnat which can cause a lot of problems but we shut down our grow and are moving to the new spot

Gary... are you gonna be a dad???? Dude I just read your shirt.
yes we had our first child December 1st! 🙏🏻🍄❤️
