What a nice surprise it was finding a graded adaptation of this story in russian! I actually found the original PDF-compilation of the Return of Sherlock Holmes in Russian, although I was looking for the PDF-compilation of the Adventures of S.H. which I couldn't find! 😞
I already got C2 German certificate, but to get to that level, I first had to test out C1, which I did mostly by reading and memorizing the vocabulary in both compilations. By the way, this was the first story I read and worked on! 👍🏼
I did the same with japanese. These stories are great to learn, because they're well written and are a well of useful vocabulary, as well.

My mother tongue is Spanish, but I'm fluent in English, French, Italian, German, and Japanese. And now, I'm starting to take my first baby steps in Russian! 😅
I started it a long time ago, but I had to give it up back then, because things got a bit hectic! But now, I'm full steam ahead. I started working on it last week in November and by now, I know about 205 essential verbs in imperfective and perfective and some of their derivatives, as well as adjective, adverbs, preposition and nouns. The cases seen to be an uphill battle, like in German at first, but it's a battle I'm planning to win! 🤺🤕🤣

Also in the beginning I didn't really understand about the family story in the past but that's maybe me not being very good when it comes to family relationship ;-)

Excellent story like all of your books. Thank you Kristina. Another awesome thing is about this story is it corresponds to the Russian version of Sherlock Holmes (ruclips.net/video/saVNmNaRIcY/видео.html) . I had tried watching these movies repeatedly with the English subtitles but really could not follow the Russian and could not find Russian subtitles. After reading your story/book I was able to watch without subtitles as I could pick up on a ton of Russian language. I had the same experience with your Tom Sawyer and Hound of the Baskervilles books. Anyone who wants to learn Russian and does not get these books is making a mistake. They are a gateway to watching the movies which really builds confidence.
