- Have had a massive headache every day since the end of July so kind of rusty, also look and feel like hell and am too lazy to set up real mics...but trying to play when I'm able! I'll be back as soon as they figure out why my head is trying to explode.
Glad you're back! You are a great player, and your taglharpa sounds incredible.
Thank you!
Amazing tune ..!!

@@HavocHarpa I sent you a DM
Happy to hear you playing again. It's always a pleasure. I hope you have an expedient diagnosis and recovery from your head pains.
Thank you!
Thank you for your uploads. You made me want to buy my own. Still learning my notes though. Thank you so much! Anytime you upload, I'm here for it! ❤
Thank you!
So lovely!!! A piece of My tagelharpa broke 😢 so I’m filling up on listening to other people play online lol
Thank you! I hope you can get it fixed!
It's no secret, but your first lyre is absolutely out of competition in sound!
I love the timbre of the instrument and your playing.
Thank you!
Excellent work and mastery of the musical instrument! What is the tune and and what strings do you use?
Thank you. This would be c3 c2 g2 from top to bottom. For the strings they are 1/8 scale cello strings but a mix of brands. C3 is a daddario helicore, c2 is a daddario prelude and I think the g string is a prim.
Hey, I love this instrument and would love to have it myself. Because of your headache, I just thought of a bad posture. I once had to do work for a long time that corresponds to the posture you have in the video. The muscles in my neck down to the shoulder were completely hardened, maybe you just played too often?
Thank you, I appreciate it! I wish it were that simple, I had what they suspect was meningitis in July and the headaches started after the fever broke. Unfortunately they still aren't sure what's causing them other than that it was likely related to high spinal fluid pressure during and right after the fever. It has very slowly been improving, just not fast enough for my liking! I'm hoping to get back to making instruments soon but need to catch up on my primary business first.
@@HavocHarpa Ouch, that's a bit more complicated, of course. Hopefully the problem will go away and hey, I'd like to build instruments like that too. Maybe I'll get around to it. I would also be interested to know if and what difference the surface treatment makes in terms of sound.
I have shellac lying around here, but I haven't done anything with it yet.
@@svenboelling5251 definitely part of the fun of making them. If you have a sensitive ear it seems everything makes a big difference in sound. I get stuck cycling through different bridges, materials, tailpieces, bridge after lengths, etc chasing different sounds.
you doin alright?
I'm alive but after a lot of tests including a spinal tap there hasn't been any diagnosis, just confirmation that something isn't quite right; on the plus side it's not cancer or a blood clot in my head, multiple sclerosis or any common virus/bacteria/fungus and pain has been more intermittent for a few weeks instead of all the time. Still feel like crap but it seems to be improving if only very slowly.
that's good to hear, hope you get better@@HavocHarpa
Wow, this is stunning! Thank you souch for the gorgeous playing. May I ask you, what string length (scale from pegs to bridge) is used on your tagelharpa?
This one is ~19" using 1/8 scale cello strings. It's pretty rough to play, I'm going to move up to a 21.5" scale length using 1/4 scale cello strings on the next one I make.
Thank you so much! @@HavocHarpa
