the access only in deployment tells staff and prisoners not to use the selected area as a shortcut. This means that they should only use access only areas when they actually need to use facilities in the room
Bookshelves now fulfil the literacy need. If you don't want to do education soon, putting bookshelves near seating in the common room will help you out a lot.
my psychologist really helped me. More than any other medical professional I’ve ever been to (I’ve been to a LOT of professionals, various reasons/ailments). My therapist never really did as much as I wish I could say she did, she was a wonderful person, but I’m not sure how to describe it, she just wasn’t providing me with advice I could genuinely use
yess, i was waiting for this also you can still place the drains directly under the showers you just have to wait for the showers to be installed first !! though it’s probably easier to forget placing them now if you do wait
it's a good idea to get a chapel as soon as possible because it has a calming effect to reduce fights. You could get a chapel and visitation coming off the visitors hallway. You could use the award bit at the end of the medical ward for cleaning and laundry. Having laundry near the cell blocks will be more efficient. You can have the cleaning cupboard accessible via the laundry, or the other way around. As long as they are separated by a door they should function fine.
Also, the new jail door colors are to help designate different sectors (ie yellow for protected custody, red for max/super, orange for regular, grey for min, etc).
A super easy trick to keep prisoners happy is just add a few radios here and there. They have a much wider range now (hover over a placed one to see). Place one or two in the yard, canteen, etc and it gets their recreation up while they do other things, keeping them happier.
love the series so far! its interesting to see whats been added since your last playthrough. i love all the little mundane stuff. carpet! lights! a whole new chair!
Just a suggestion - For the placement of the common room in the general area of the prison - you might want to think about further expansion of the canteen above for the further expanding cells. You could easily move the common room/cleaning closet to the bottom of the yard, which would leave room for the necessary expansion of the canteen. Great episode though, I look forward to it!
The psychology room (brown room) you cloned and put next to the morgue doesn’t have the large lounge it requires and the psychologist you hired should have gone into the blue office next door. 😊
Psychiatrists I believe benefit from a few extra items when dealing with the criminally insane, and the psychologists can use wide sofas for some of the reform programs. Staff sometimes enjoy having benches too, and their needs are a second tab in the prisoner needs menu if that helps. Dont forget solitary, and keep in mind that reception when setup cavity searches intakes for contraband, and contraband can reach like five tiles over an outter wall/fence that's outside so you can have random kids chucking liqour and cell phones with hit lists over the walls. Insane has it's own designation in the logistics as well to keep the mad prisoners confined to their own ward. Other than that seems by and large pretty solid considering you say you havent been around for a bit. A few other things may crop up such as segregating by security level but that will come with time.
You forgot to mark the kitchens as staff only. As Abbey Parker said, you can mark the kitchens as access only to stop people using them as a shortcut. "other's direction" is good for getting visitors to walk in the staff only corridors instead of using prisoner ones. You should get at least two metal detectors between the canteen and the common room, and between the canteen and the cell blocks.
The kitchen has a line to the hallway because that's the hallway the holding cell is on. Prisoners in holding cells get assigned to the nearest canteen in case they are in the holding cell long enough to need food.
Change the kitchen to ACCESS ONLY in deployment and the coloured stripped doors are to show where different class of prisoner go yellow= protective grey=low sec etc.
Putting showers in the cells protects prisoners from being attacked during shower time. If you really wanna save some money, put down a shower drain, a toilet on top, and a shower on top of the toilet....everything will work in this configuration. I do it in all of my prisons :) Also, if you do this, you dont need a designated shower time in the regime. They will take care of their hygiene needs during freetime
Console doesn't have orderlies they only gave us insane people, padded rooms (not even all of them) and therapists. Not even straight jackets are in console. They made console an incomplete DLC for the same price and they probably won't add these things in because they got their sunset update
Yeah but access only restricts all personnel including prisoners to stop taking it for a shortcut and must be only used with purposes, like a lockdown, they'll make it quick.
Aren't padded cells supposed to be empty? Doesn't a padded cell function like solitary confinement for mentally unstable individuals? The reason they're padded is to prevent patients from finding ways to harm themselves by banging their heads on the walls and such. And for the same reason the room should be empty of furnitures. Maybe in some cases they placed a simple mattress to serve as a bed, but i doubt they installed toilets in these rooms.
Is anyone else having this annoying issue of cooks not cooking food?! I have a stoves, fridges, and a sink and my cooks are still not cooking. My prisoners are getting restless because of it and I can't figure out how to get these damn cooks to do their job
Set the kitchen as access only. That should stop them using it as a shortcut
Also set them as staff only if you don't want prisoners cooking.
^^ In escape mode you can get knifes from there, and other stuff, another reason to set it as staff only
If you double click an object, you can move it without having to dismantle it first. Can come in handy.
300 hours in and never knew this lmao.
I know that. But I still dismantle it

For the future... add bathrooms around the prison like u did in the staff room. It'll lower the chance of riots.
I think the criminaly insane should have their own yard
Me too
Imagine them together.....
Why should I be separated from my comrades
Yeah cauze criminally insane people.... Will definitely kill the normal inmates

im thinking of becoming a psyciologist too, but im not old enough to get a degree

You made the lobby 'Staff only' so the visitors won't be able to get to the visitation room. Love this series!
yess, i was waiting for this also you can still place the drains directly under the showers you just have to wait for the showers to be installed first !! though it’s probably easier to forget placing them now if you do wait
I think some of the rooms you made offices by the Psych Ward were originally for Padded Holding and Padded Solitary

I know of an easy way to make money in Prison Architect.

Watching him lay the pipes and such is SO SATISFYING.
use access only for the kitchen on the normal wing.. this will not allow unneccessary use of the short cut
I think you need a common room and yard for your criminally insane prisoners as well as padded holding and padded solitary.
Im loving this series. I didnt know this game existed a day ago and now i think this will be a xmas gift to myself lol
I'm so happy. I friggen love prison architect
you should add more doors in the hallways leading up to the main entrance. adds extra security.
This is an ideal build for a prison. Can't wait to see it up and running!! 💚
when he's finished i want to see him try escape it ngl
You can make the toilets a staff-only area so you can build doors and you don't have to make it a staffroom.
You missed one of the offices when marking them as staff only
A super easy trick to keep prisoners happy is just add a few radios here and there. They have a much wider range now (hover over a placed one to see). Place one or two in the yard, canteen, etc and it gets their recreation up while they do other things, keeping them happier.
You can set a shower head on top of a toilet on top of a drain and put it in a single cell, getting rid of shower rooms entirely.

Psychologist doesn't need the sofa, it just needs a regular office. The psychiatrist needs the special office.
The psychiatrist is the one who requires the large couch. The psychologist doesn't need it.
really enjoying this series so far!

You need walls between the toilets in the staff room.
I'm so excited for this! Please post lots! I just watched both videos for background noise to study but instead I was glued to the screen, so good!
Love this series so much. It turned my day from a bad day to good day, thanks!
Flabaliki/James:This Will be the Visiting room

James:I don't know what this room will be...
Me:wuttt...
when you are bilding a new foundation you should not mark the existing wall otherwise they are going to distroy the wall. tray!
You added white tiles instead of padded tiles in the psych hallway
He did it cause padded tiles are expensive
Also just make the kitchen access only. It should solve the problem.
you should build a security office
How much do we have to pay you on patreon to get you to stream this game full time?
I hope we get more of these ❤️

Anyone else find he sounds very similar to Jazza?
Found you yesterday. Nice videos
I've been in a padded cell, there is nothing but a toilet. There is no showers, no beds, literally nothing. Just you + a toilet + a camera
The criminally insane don’t have anything in their rooms, to prevent them from doing anything to hurt themselves
You need to fill the rest of that yard area with the actual room because it’s only on the top half
For visitation there are visitor doors that only visitors are allowed to use.
YES MORE PA!!!! PLEASE MAKE THIS A SERIES
saw a footbridge as a new option to build wonder how that'll fit into this if Flabaliki might use that
YESSS I was waiting for this!!!!
How do prisoners get from the second yard to the canteen? Did I miss a door?
I hope when he beats gt he just goes back with full items to fold the last boss
i never played this game before because the graphic looks so old but i didnt know that it is so complex to build a prison

When will next ep be up?!
What's the point of a padded cell if you gunna put a toilet and a bed in there they just gunna smack their heads on that instead
Probably not smart to have a big lake in the yard of a mental hospital
4,8,16,24? Maf!
But staff toilets in the open?
Aren't padded cells supposed to be empty?
Doesn't a padded cell function like solitary confinement for mentally unstable individuals?
The reason they're padded is to prevent patients from finding ways to harm themselves by banging their heads on the walls and such. And for the same reason the room should be empty of furnitures.
