Battling Washboard Down Otay Mtn (San Diego)

Otay Mountain sits at the border of San Diego and Tijuana with sweeping views into the US and Mexico. This was my first time riding it and I decided to descend the north side of Otay Mountain on my gravel bike. I had been warned this was a very rutted descent and that was no lie!

So stoked to see the Otay vid this morning. Makes my wrists and hands hurt just watching😅 For anyone planning an Otay ascent, it's good to know there are 3 roads to the top. The north side (Pio Pico), which Safa shot here, is by far the most difficult ascent and descent of the three. The East and West sides offer much more consistent (and manageable) grades as well as a better surface for a safe descent. Over all, Otay is a hidden gem of a climb in San Diego that should be on more peoples list.

Mostly use overlays for fast road stuff. Gravel and mtb is more about the vibes and seeing how far we can push the grip 😂. Gravel Gods epsiodes have data overlays.
