Legit, nobody understands that tierlists and stuff made by pros and top players aren't gonna carry them because the people they're learning from are going off of YEARS of experience.
That's why those "what you need to know in every rank" written by people in Masters who placed in diamond are hilarious. They'll be like all you need to get to diamond is to learn the difference between a punch and kick, when you get to masters you can start to string them together for something we legends call a "combo," hope this helps ✌️
@@nicbishop311 Sometimes though it really is that simple lol. I got from gold to diamond by just DPing jump-ins, it was the same in Gear floor 4-7 by just 6Ping people jumping at me. Disagree. One of the marks of semi-decent player is hit confirming imo, and that Marisa wasnt doing it at all. They had some ideas on how to do offence but players a lit less fearful than that juri would press instead of jump after unsafe moves and end up punishing Marisa.
i think considering that marisa can get away with winning with just gladius/superman punch/drive impact at that rank, hit confirming isn't a great metric. some characters are trash without extending their combos but marisa can make do with singular, powerful attacks. also the marisa did a neutral drive rush into stance/command grab, which i wouldn't expect from that rank. the marisa player definitely had enough practice/knowledge to get out of bronze, but either doesn't consistently play ranked or intentionally lost to dunk on new players (unlikely). @@lot8113

The thing about that Marisa at the end is that not everyone plays ranked. There is a good chance that Marisa was just someone who plays with their buddies or something and just started climbing the ranks, but that first rank they fly by doesn’t really fit their skill level. That was me with Mika in SFV. I ranked up really fast, but was bronze at some point
nice video! editing error, the result for chun vs rashid later shown up in the middle of the video around the 19:55 mark. Otherwise, a nice watch. Have a good day!
Every single player on earth has gotten to play at the very start of the match. Past that, it's you either get thrown to death or mash out against a mistimed anything with a 4-frame. If you have a plan past the first 13 seconds of the match, you're basically a god at this game.
I loved the video! If you ever consider making this a recurring series, you guys may want to take some inspiration from Harstem's Rank Roulette (Starcraft 2). I personally really like their system of simultaneous submission (they send it to Harstem's editor before confirming IIRC) and the way that they count the points. The gist is that the goal is to have the least amount of points, and the worse your guess is, more points you get. That way you both reward really good guesses, as well as the game not being easily decided by the last round.
@ 19:56 @Castehappy has some rogue clips left in his timeline! spoilers for the Chun/Rashid match ahead ! love this video, two great tastes that go great together
I think when he said “you prob shouldn’t have done that” he meant the Ken should’ve gone for corner carry. It might be less damage but it’s more optimal when you have your opponent in the corner in this game (and especially if you’re Ken)
It is, but I shouldn't have brought him out of the corner. Ken's corner pressure, especially before his throw loops got nerfed, is more valuable than the few hundred extra damage and resetting to neutral. I've learned my lesson, and JM was right, I did make it to master, and Diaphone was also dead-on, because I'm at about 1470 MR which is probably right where I should be. I hope the Ryu made it too, I'm sure he did, but we used to run into each other all the time (lol SF6 matchmaking)
Loved the idea! You guys could do like Harstem does for SC2, both people bet at the same time and get points for every rank away from the answer. Winner is the one with the least points in the end!
33:09 my guess would've been Wood 3 ngl, but I remember a Marisa on reddit posting a clip asking how to beat Ken and the clip had her do a 60% combo then loosing 6 times in neutral and they were bronze 3 so imma bet this is the exact same Marisa as that reddit post 2-3 months ago
I think this experience could be better if the clip also game with the number of games that the player had, so you can compare gameplay to number of games played to help decide. Because like, the honda players could vary wildly in their rank based on numbers of games played.

For how much effort went into the reveal animation, and that it shows both players ranks, maybe in future episodes, Diaphone should guess player 1's rank and the guest should guess player 2's rank. Point for correct, half point to closest guess if both are wrong
I was playing Cammy for the first time ever yesterday. Going through my new Challenger matches. -- Started fighting Bronze player, fair enough, he had some good stuff but was a bit predictable with the jump ins and didn't know any combos. -- Then another Bronze player, modern Ryu, who immediately started mashing EX-Hadouken button and didn't know what any other button did. Opponent was good and I barely squeaked by positive in the Bo3. -- Then suddenly jumped up to Diamond out of nowhere, oh shit this is a higher ranked player than I've ever faced before!
