    It's interesting that the early reviews of the Lexus remote touch were generally positive, and then somewhere along the line everyone decided they hate it.

      @@Gameboytri77a It's because car reviewers only get a few hours at maximum with a car, so they don't have time to learn how to use it. Anything that is different from the norm is deemed complicated. The logic is very simple: a touch screen is impossible to use while driving. No feedback, bumps in the road have major impact on your finger position when you have your arm extended and a "mouse" like this makes it easy to rest your arm on the middle arm rest and do your thing.
      But heaven forbid a car reviewer would say something positive for a change. I value the opinion of actual owners much more: if they like it, the system is good.
      I also notice that some reviewers find the Lexus much more sporty handling than the BMW of the time, because the BMW went the Mercedes way: more comfort and trade off sportiness. How is it then that other reviewers say the Lexus is nothing like an BMW in terms of sportiness? It can't both be true.

    Why do Europeans bust on Lexus so much? They are the best selling luxury brand here in the US and there's a reason for that.

    • @batmikipig
      @batmikipig 10 лет назад +23

      There are 2 main reason: no diesel option (here the most selled sedans are 2.0 or 3.0 diesel) here the fuel cost 8.8 dollar/gallon; and price, here the lexus cost 60k euros instead of 60k usd (18k dollars more than in the us). And, for someone, lexus is not "cool" enough

    • @Erikootje
      @Erikootje 4 года назад

      @@kaidong2706 what does the engine has to do with the handling
      the hybrid 450h is actually the most potend set up this car has besides the GS F
      and the F sport trim with that hybrid set up comes with 4 wheel steering too (facelift version)
      so actually the hybrid is supposed to be the more dynamic (in F sport trim) set up, again besides the GS F

    • @peterharvey153
      @peterharvey153 2 года назад +1

      Petrol vs Petrol/Diesel, the GS has firmer coils springs than the E Class, 5 Series and A6 - so the GS does indeed handle more sharply - however, the GS rides a bit too firm too!
      Meanwhile, the hybrid GS is more softly sprung than the petrol GS, plus the extra weight in the rear of the hybrid's battery pack affects GS's handling compared to a conventional gasoline vehicle.

      Having driven all the rivals, this is a no contest. GS is easily the best car in a segment. Could be a bit more roomy in the back, like ES, nothing more to ask. Maybe infotainment could be easier and more intuitive, I must agree with that. Only BMW F10 comes close in sporty road manners, all others are F*CKED in comparison. If You want more economical Germans, you are left with 2.0 diesels, if 90% of the time you are driving on highways (or A roads). I mean, c’mon… :)) gs450h actually outaccelerates bmw 335i, you can get proof even here on RUclips. The car is so well balanced and almost nothing ever actually goes wrong. The drivetrain is friggin’ eternal. In terms of quality and reliability, it absolutely smashes all of them. Especially obvious after 200k miles. Resale value is excellent also.

    Huhh? The 2013 GS has its own platform and not based from any Toyota. The 2013 GS is completely new from the ground up! Even the engine is different. Like the Lexus LFA, the engine is acoustically and athletically tuned by Yamaha, and the engine sounds so good. There are also 3 sound tubes, again just like in the LFA, that transfers engine sound through the cabin.

    I can't help but notice the rather shrill loyalism towards Mercedes and BMW in these comments. That in itself demonstrates what a perceived threat that Lexus is. Who would have thought 20 years ago that a Japanese car would be jostling the Germans in this sector?

  • @Ikesthetic
    @Ikesthetic 12 лет назад +3

    I think so too! Maybe its because this is a non-F Sport hybrid and not the GS 350 F Sport. A lot of reviews have even said that the new Lexus GS is what used to be the 5 Series, aka an E60 in Lexus guise. Well, of course except for the M5 which is still the class benchmark, but nevertheless, this GS has converted me from a 5 Series (excluding M5) fan, and into a GS fan!

    This is nowhere near a camry hybrid. First it has a V6 engine, secondly it is on a different platform and is RWD -_- and on top of all that is built at a completely different factory built to completely superior quality standards than the already very good standards of a camry

    Really it's hard to distinguish them. I've already seen new gs around and it's really impressive, nice looking car but i know it's gs because es isn't availabe in my contry. Mainly front gs laps are a little bit different from es's and that's all from me : D

    It's less in price, compare it to a similar equiped and similar powered BMW/Merc/Audi and see the price.

    And your review article is wrong about the price of the GS450h F-Sport : it costs 50,995 NOT 74,000. One wonders if this was an underhanded attempt to make the German cars look good in the face of cheaper more accomplished rivals from Japan.

    More or less. The build quality and attention to detail on the LS is more or less on par with Bentley. The bodies themselves are not hand built of sprayed but they are laser welded and the steering wheel is may from bamboo and hand made, as is the wood and leather
