To all those bitching about the shoes I don't see Grant as the type of dude that cares to sit down and design a shoe. I see it being more like.
Nike : "Grant, which shoes do you like the best?"
Grant : "The blazers and the bruins."
Nike : "Cool, get ready to make the big bucks."
As far as this PROMOTIONAL VIDEO for his shoe, NOT A VIDEO PART. I enjoyed it, the cinematography I thought worked very well with Grants incredible talent on the board. Also, I don't think anyone should worry about Grants footage. I believe a new anti hero video is in the works.
Everyone. Mellow the fuck out. Go buy Grants shoe. Make him rich. Go skate. Do power slides. Eat shit. Get up. Repeat.

The cinematography in Propeller was pretty good, although for me personally, I was really hoping Vans was going to really blow us away and do something different, instead of just your average skate video. Such as Girl's videos like Pretty Sweet. That had Spike Jonze directing and I think that is my favourite recent skate video because it is so creative and innovative and not just like every other skate video.

For the most part I agree with you but this edit was so overdone it honestly took away from the skating. Nobody watches skate videos for the editing

Dear nike, you just don't take the board's sound off the video.
A lot of it was shot on film.
It was all shot on 16mm film so no sound would have been recorded.

I don't customarily associate with Nike SB, but this video is astonishing. I dote the whole concept and the art style of the video. I would like to know what editor they utilized for the old school style texture on the video.

Not saying people are wrong but I'm genuinely interested why they thought this edit was so bad? Sparking, I hope, a proper conversation about this rather than saying 'this is shit, fuck Nike'.
I think it's because it was very different from a traditional skateboarding part. Personally, I loved it. But traditional parts are getting kind of stale to me since I've seen so many. To me this was a breath of fresh air, but to people who haven't worn out that traditional style in their mind, this is probably just weird to them.
I love that quick, messy, collage style editing that they did. I felt like it was similar to some of the more recent videos Alien was producing, which got a lot of grief as well.
I don't really get the hate. If it said "AWS" instead of nike, people would be jerking off. Its edited exactly like the last few workshop videos
The only major thing I don't like about this is sound. The first half of the video was filled with terrible screeching sounds, and the second half was uninteresting, even if it was intended to be a contrast. I love hearing the sound of skating, so taking muting that makes the video less enjoyable to watch. That being said he camera the video was shot with and the angles from which everything was filmed look great.

Landshawkz A lot of it was shot on film therefore there was no sound. Could've used an audio recorder but that would've been a hell of a lot of work to sync audio up.

it looks like everyday crap that comes out on these few skateboarding sites got many brains washed, including yours... this is a fucking great edit, remember that. it doesn't matter that nike stands behind it, all that matters is it looks fucking good. i'm also not a fan of nike, but that doesn't mean some things related to it can't be good, or even superb..
Jason Belcourt Video quality is different from editing; I don't have any problems with videos being HD or not. And Dino, I don't have problems with Nike either, I just didn't like this style of editing. It's cool to do something different I guess though; Just because I don't like the edit doesn't mean that other people have to dislike it. Everyone has their own style
