Skating is booming in Japan right now. We've had more Japanese skaters break into the scene in the past few years than we had in all of 2000-2015. I think it's because it's becoming more socially acceptable to skate in Japan. It's always been socially acceptable in the U.S. so its hard to compare but for a long time I think that it was socially frowned upon to skate in Japan. But with things like the Olympics coming up, Japan is really embracing skateboarding and we are seeing the results of it in this video.
Agreed. I donno what the exact reason is but it definitely seems to be taking off. Having a prodigy like Yuto rep in big events abroad and just be visible in the US scene probably helped too.

There is so much interesting architecture and public space in Japan, like the waterfront area, the mall, or the crazy downhill rail in the alley. Makes these real fun to watch!
These guys deserve this recognition and may it only grow. Tricks are super professional in every way. Fast, big, and half the spots don't even have flat pavement to roll on in sight. Idk how they skate so clean in such crust
