This Delta Airlines huge plans for AIRBUS A321neo will change the industry ! Except for AIRBUS A321xlr, maybe it's for American Airlines to use AIRBUS A321xlr than Delta Airlines that use AIRBUS A321neo for the huge plans 2:42.
I guess Delta and American Airlines will use the A321 neo or the A 321 XLR for flights from the US to Mallorca, Spain (like United Airlines does it - they replace their B 757 with the A 321 XLR for that route).
When we study the possible fleet and related business strategies of airlines, one aspect to look at should be the OUTGOING aircraft, and a second one should be the purchase OPTIONS taken but unfullfilled. When 2024 startet, DELTA had a 757-200 fleet of 111 units. Following Wikidingsda, this number is now down to 99. The 767-300ER pool has eroded to a mere 40, and the A320ceo have declined to 55. Furthermore, the 717 units were cut by eight to a remaining 80. On the other hand, DELTA has 70 unfilled A321neo options, and 10 (only!) for the A330neo. To assure a smooth transition from the ancient subfleets and their allegedly very high operating costs, DELTA URGENTLY needs to order more A220, more A321neo and many many more A330neo! So let us wait for a late Christmas!
Delta only has one plan with the A321neo: replace the rapidly aging 757-200 fleet. In fact, newer-delivery A321-200's are already performing this role for US domestic routes.
I am glad for progress for the Avaition community! I fly with American Airlines.... But super happy for Delta ....
Great to hear!

They are building delay time into total travel time
