- It's crystal clear, my love for the Golf GTI knows no bounds! But I must say, the GTI Clubsport has caught me completely off guard. What a true drivers car it is! 🚗💨 Personally, I still lean towards the TCR, but the Clubsport has definitely made an impression on me.
Now, here's a thought that lingers in my mind: How do you feel about this being the last generation of the beloved Golf? 😰 It's a bittersweet revelation for me. On one hand, it signifies the end of an era, a legendary lineage that captivated enthusiasts for decades. On the other hand, it represents the beginning of a new chapter for Volkswagen, with exciting future developments surely awaiting us. 🌟

I've had my mk8 gti now for just over a year and made some changes to handling and appearance which really enhance its appearance and drive. May not be the hottest hot hatch (ive owned a few of them) but overall its a decent performance hatch. 👍🏼 good review!
The Golf GTI is one of the most respected hot hatches in history! VW Golf GTI each model years continues to get better with stronger performance figures, space, and tech. I do think the MK8 is one of my favorite models because it combines the tech and fun driving experiences. Plus, with its small 4 cylinder turbo engine, it is economical for the daily commutes.
Nice review! Gave you a sub!
as a mk5/ mk7 owner I'd love to test one of these out. I love the look! Can't believe the NA doesn't get clubsports
Absolutely no brainer when we got ours
Took the mk8 R out, the TCR 7.5 and this just imo was better
stage 2 now and seriously it’s 450 plus bhp ❤
Brilliant keep it up
Tim
I briefly drove MK5 GTI, but I did not push it. It handled well in roundabouts for a FWD and the gearbox was pleasant. I then spent thousands of miles in a our fleet MK7 GTD , and again it was a decent car power wise, look wise and ergonomically. It felt up market when new. Then , I drove rental MK8 1.5 TFSI and launched it at every traffic lights. It was fun with for 150 bhp car, but the lack of physical buttons was annoying. I was briefly considering MK7 GTI (used) for my own car but they demand quite premium for what they are . MK6 is closer what I am willing to pay for a car but unreliable. That's where my journey with the brand ends :) However, it made me want a TURBO petrol engine, most likely 4 cylinder due to lower tax and economy.
My dads had a few Gris He had two over a period of 18 years as his daily, his other car being an 1987 911 carrera he had fir 20+ years). He had a mark 4 but hated it - me 3 and 4 were let downs. He has now got a 2013 2.0 diesel my 7 which is as fast as his my 2 if not faster - perfect fast for road driving, though he is thinking about a mk7 gt I. What do you think? He has to park on the street and he’s averse to parking “a nice car” on the street as it gets parking rubs all the time
Can’t go wrong with a MK7. Definitely my favourite modern day golf!
sadly manufacturers are doing away with buttons and knobs which is complete pain.
It’s such a shame
7:30, quick enough to pull you glasses off.
Haha exactly 🤣
shame we dont' get a clubsport in USA. I'll make do with my Type R and S2000 until something better comes out.
Thinking of getting an 8 CS to replace my 7.5 GTI, think you have to go with the red pin stripe Scottsdales
Don’t do it
Keep ure 7.5
The cs is a knightmare
@@bruts82 thanks for the tip, love my 7.5 so much
@@SilverShamrock71 cs looks incredible but the driving assist systems ruin the experience, never mind all the faults with the infotainment system.
The issues are ongoing and dealers simply can’t resolve them
@@bruts82 if anything it'll be a low mileage TCR, although I love my 7.5, will probably just keep it
Your review is awesome. Besides the presenter is gorgeous so I would like to see her in person here in Australia.
It's a nice car the golf gti i think they could of done better with the interior tho would of made it a better car all around
Agreed!!
I really really really really want a GTE hybrid with a straight pipe, electric cars are my mortal Enemy and i can't i can't stand em but when i seen and heard a gte straight pipe it was so loud it literally made me jump, since then I've grown a soft spot only for this one single GTE , seen a 16 or 17 plate with 60k on for 12 grand, not bad , yep this gti and the gte , they both sound EXACTLY the same
not true, i own a mk8 gte and drove a friends mk8 gti clubsport - not even worth to compare
Its my 5th one wont drive anything else great review
Il stick with my 7.5 golf r 600hp Beautiful .The mk 8 sounds to tiny.
Surely the TCR was a better car.I am not a fan of the honeycomb stickers on some TCR’s as in my opinion the look cheap and Chavy.
Definitely preferred the TCR. One of my favourite VW’s ever made!
Only reason this car wasn’t called the TCR was simply down to vw pulling out of tin tops
the chassis is the same
Subjective of course. MK 8 GTi and R. All good IMO except the cheap and nasty interior. Should do a Honda and return to physical buttons. 😡
I agree with this. Bring back the buttons!!
As an owner, I really don’t feel the need for buttons, everything is automatic and customizable. You really get used to it, like with iPhones when they came out. Plus, interior isn’t cheap nor nasty at all, have you been in one dasautogt ? Allow me to doubt it given your comment.
A-crap-a-vitch
The MK8 Clubsport is a fantastic car. You need to learn how to use the infotainment and work and learn from it yourself. All the reviews on it are far exaggerated. It a great fun car, a all rounder if you wanted a little bit more than just the standard GTi.
Can’t stand golfs
You more of a bmw man
@@ameliaautomotive what gives you that idea 😉 😂
I can't stand BMW and Mercedes good for the rubbish dump once it's is used terrible resale value
