  • Prepare to be blown away by the legendary Volkswagen Golf GTI, an iconic model that has reached new heights with the latest Clubsport variant. Delivering the most poised and enjoyable driving experience yet, the Golf GTI Clubsport outshines its predecessors. While the standard Golf GTI impresses with 245hp, the Clubsport takes it up a notch with an impressive 300hp, enabling a blistering 0-62mph time of under six seconds and a top speed of 155mph.
Not only does the Golf GTI Clubsport pack a punch in terms of power, but it also boasts enhancements to its suspension, resulting in a lowered ride height of approximately 15mm. Additionally, a new drive mode has been specially developed to elevate the car's agility on twisty B-roads, surpassing the capabilities of the standard model. But what does Howard, our esteemed automotive expert, think of the Mk8 Golf GTI?
However, the Golf GTI's appeal extends beyond pure fun. It incorporates a host of impressive features such as IQ lights, cutting-edge voice activation technology, and a sleek Innovision infotainment system that demands attention. Standard equipment on all Golf GTIs includes IQ LIGHT LED matrix headlights and LED front fog lights, 19-inch alloy wheels, Driving Profile Selection, Digital Cockpit Pro with a 10.25-inch screen, and Adaptive Cruise Control.

It's such a good car for all occasions, and all people. User friendly, and much better quality after almost nine generations. You don't need any other car costs you a lot more. Good review with so much detail. Thank you Howard.

Iv had the CS for 12months, 14k on the clock and no issues at all
Ridiculously quick for a stock car too
My advice though to anyone is take the time to adapt your habits towards the info system and learn how to use it I.E allow it to boot up before you start bashing the screen and learn the voice command functions too, don’t speak to it like your having a conversation with it.
    Crack that and it’s faultless

I had the golf gti 245bhp and it was brilliant car, it was fast and alive which couldn’t be said for the golf R 7.5 I had before it. The Gti makes the golf R seem like a grandad. The Golf R was fast but lacked everything the GTI was and that was only the smaller power GTI MK8.
I moved on the Hyundai Kona N which was the total opposite of the GTI totally unhinged mental case car, the first time I test drove I nearly torqued steered into a shop window, So I decided I quite like the unhinged-ness

Have one already. MK7 GYI 6spd 2017. Pinnacle GTI IMO, as the MK7.5 is exactly the same, just with a couple aesthetic facelift things. These cars don’t hold their value well, so it’s best to just keep them forever.

Got mine last month. Loved the car, but hates the dealership with a passion. Not sure if this only applies to Australia. The dealership used non spec cheap oil twice in 2 weeks for the 2k km complimentary service. Lucky I checked because I just don't trust the dealership here. If not for the so called complimentary service, I wouldn't go back to the dealership for services at all.

The problem with the Clubsport is that it almost costs as much as the R which is way better its not only stronger but it has a variable all wheel drive which smokes the Clubsport in acceleration and way safer to drive it in winter.

The mk8 gti base model I had was so much better than the 7.5 golf R I owned. The Golf just felt terrible compared. The gti was fast, nippy, fast DSG. The golf was slow witted and lack everything the GTI was even at the base model level and on he roll just as quick as a golf r. So the club sport must be really fast.

I've got the a 21 reg GTI and honestly cannot recommend it. The Infotainment is so buggy it stops working every couple of week. Navigation cuts out and heater co trols are awful. Vw are useless too and just say it's a known fault and they can't fix it. Basically they do updates over the air every month or so which fixes it for a week or 2 then it goes again
