Billy Garland tried to inherit half of Tupac’s estate after he died. The judge ruled that he couldn’t inherit because his contributions to care and support Tupac were “minuscule”. Testimony showed that Mr Garland’s documented contributions to Tupac’s care included $820, a bag of peanuts and a ticket to Rollerball and that he never saw Tupac during 15 of his 25 years on earth

Mr Garland says the reason he sued for half of the estate is because Afeni put that he was dead on the probate papers. “Probate papers” is a legal document that shows banks and other organisations that you have authority to deal with someone’s estate.

Garland can never live down the fact that he wasnt there before the fame. He in effect made himself just as dead to Pac as Afeni declared for most of Pac's life. Then Pac becomes famous and up comes Billy Garland. There's a reason Afeni felt sour toward him and declared him dead And He did nothing to dispel her reasons. Its sad either way. Billy showed up too late to truly be a father to Pac beyond the biological definition.

Also, she never lied. He explains it clearly in this Interview right here ruclips.net/user/shortsQ7A60Z_JO-0?feature=share
It was another guy that was claimed to be his father that passed , which is the man he spoke of in the song, She wasn’t talking about Billy. Remember, Afeni was doing dugs at the time she conceived Pac and may have slept with multiple men around that time, and could have really thought Tupac father was another man’s that she was with around that same time of conception. Yes, Very irresponsible, But It does happen unfortunately. Billy may have been a fling or a one night stand and the two was probably never involved or in contact again. I’m sure he heard through the grapevine that Afeni had a child and may possibly knew that he could’ve been the father if he compared the timeline, or if he somehow seen a picture of the child, crossed paths with them on the street, or whatever the case may have been, and felt a striking resemblance. And what I think Afeni is saying is, If you knew all along or felt this was indeed your son, who was claimed to be another mans, then why did you wait 23 years later when that child was rich and famous and on his death bed to now claim your spot at the thrown.
That man had 23 years, which I’m sure in Afeni’s eyes he had been way long forgot about and probably ruled out as even a possibility in her mind when she was sure the other father was. So she was just as surprised as her son when that man , who probably was just a fling, popped up 23 years later at her Son’s bed side claiming to be his father. That man had 23 YEARS!! He could of been searching for his son way before he became rich and famous and demand a DNA test if he always knew he was his. You may never know, they may even had some pass by encounters and walked right pass Afeni with Pac cradle in her hands, and didn’t even give a 2 F’s to look or even ask if the child was his. That man went about his life. Even if he thought it was a possibility or heard through the grapevine .. that Man didn’t go searching , he went about his life. So to her , The AUDACITY!
Remember, Afeni was the one who requested the Blood test when he sued for half of the Estate which created an even bigger red flag on his purpose and intent, so that alone let’s you know that her herself really did not think he was the father, in which we know later he actually proved to be. But If there was any malice intent on Afenis behalf in her hiding that man from Pac and keeping him out of her son’s life purposely, and that Man had actual proof of his constant attempts and efforts in trying to locate and find his son way before he was famous, I promise you this, The courts would of NEVER ruled in her favor!
And honestly to me, the energy I read, after Afeni got out of Jail after having Pac in prison and struck a hard low resorting back to drugs, poverty, etc. I think maybe she did try to locate him or even gave wind of the possibility and he probably denied ever even sleeping with, at that time , the “Crack Fien” and he was never thought of, mentioned, or spoke of again. That’s honestly what I think it really was based on my intuition and ability to read the energy of the dynamics.

Yo I been in Pacs position and Mr.Garlands so I really understand the situation first hand.Sometimes when you don't want a female she will snatch your child and bounce because she can't control you and she not stronger then you so she will attack you and try to hurt you through taking your child, when it's like that you leave it alone because it's nothing but trouble. Its funny how nobody recognize how Billy Garland is in all his other children life except Tupac.Your mom can hate your father unmercifully and talk bad about him and slander him and you be thinking damn don't you know that's a part of me.Say what you want but who was 17 years old kicked out on the street?Who was on crack?who had thugs and multiple men around Tupac?Who snatched Tupac out of the school of performing arts when he finally felt like he had something he could connect with? Was Billy perfect?I doubt it.Billy Garland didn't go find interviews they came to him.Billy Garland didn't do nothing wrong to Tupac except put him in the wrong field.

But the fact he didn’t come around AT ALL to see, meet or even acknowledge Pac until Pac was both shot and famous, is very telling. U mean to tell me he heard Dear Mama, where Pac mentioned his dad was dead, knowing you’re not dead, and you don’t see about your son at ALL after that? Hell no. Sounds like a man that never attempted to try, to me.

@@montaiahypolite5275I think Afeni knew Garland was his father. Her first marriage fell apart because her husband either found out or figured out he wasn't Pac's father. Garland was a part of Pacs life when he was young, but by his own admission mentions he got married around the time they "lost touch". However, his timing was hella suspect. He said a friend told him his son got shot and that's how he found him. But that friend didn't know any other time where Pac was? Then he visited in jail and showed up again when he got shot the second time. It's weird ass timing to only pop up when he either thought he was going to die or in jail, where he's not controlling his finances. That alone makes him look opportunistic-- then wanting half of his estate?? Come on now. Maybe Afeni let Pac believe his father was gone instead of introducing him to someone who didn't care? Regardless, they're both bitter asl when they talk about the other-- what's really sad is, I doubt either of them lost any sleep because they didn't like each other-- but it had a profound impact on Pac. Sad. It's the same story over and over-- only the kids get hurt.

A woman scorned is sometimes the most dangerous. She had her struggles like many and maybe she was trying to shield the pain and hurt of what Billy said or did. However, once a child is born you try to give a baby as many lifelines and resources as possible. He had Legs and Dr. Mutulu Shakur and I’m sure they were great and sufficed. But he knew his was missing his biological father and lineage and he talked about it in Dear Mama. It was really a crime against humanity that was righted by his resilience and talent but ultimately he “succumbed” to his injuries. Maybe a 3rd father who was the first could’ve been that intervention. Just something to think about🤔🧐

@@lateiro6845 It's NOT about "prioritizing" your previous kid over your current family. It's about making it work. I've done it with my 5 kids(3 baby mamas), and of course the mother ALWAYS feel some type of way, one of them made my daughter call her step father DADDY, and to this day she( my daughter) STILL hates it. You can't choose how much time men spend with their kids, we have to move on, work and find a different life away from you and sadly the kid/kids. I've been in ALL my kids life and STILL am, of course I can't be there for EVERYTHING because I am NOT the mother nor custodial parent. My pops wasn't there except birthdays and holidays when I was growing up, not once did my mother EVER talk ish about him, and my stepfather was just that, a STEP FATHER, nothing more, nothing less. I appreciate and love my mother for her civility.

So dont be so quick to think Pacs father wasnt shiii !

@@sleepydean781, Why didn't Tupac's father take Afenie to court for visitation rights? Why didn't he put himself on child support? Why did he not fight for custody of his son? Tupac has never spoke negatively about his biological father or mother. He did an Mtv interview about meeting Billy in the hospital after he was shot. He never spoke negatively about him. He seemed happy to have met him. I don't think Afenie spoke bad about Mr Garland. I just don't think she was ever in a relationship with him and knew not to expect anything from him. He was never required to step up, so he did not. Afenie never put him on child support. Afenie never stopped him from coming to the hospital. She said she was not sure who Tupac Dad was. The guy who did step up in some capacity passed away. That was who they acknowledged as Tupac's father. The person who showed up in his childhood not Mr Garland.

As parents none of us are perfect, but DO NOT tear down the absent parent to lift yourself up. Just sad... I'm glad that Pac got the chance to bond and know his real father.

Billy Garland sued Tupac estate for half after his death. I remember Omar Epps talking about him and Pac bonded over having absent biological fathers. In Omar book his father came around when he was in Juice and tried to build a relationship with him. But beforehand Omar remember his mother working for board of education and being a principal and how when he would walk home when his mom was working late, he would run into Muslims because his father was Muslim they would say he looked like his father and one day somebody took him to his father as a teenager and his father didn't receive him well. But after Juice came out his father came looking for him. Billy Garland was a black panther and unfortunately let me say that world is small just like the Muslim world and everybody close knit. Ain't no way per Afeni sister Gloria, everybody else was able to find Afeni and Pac by going to the Panthers especially when Afeni went through her drug issues but somehow Billy Garland who is an ex Panther couldn't find her and his son until he saw Juice but his words not mine his friend told him he saw the movie therefore it would mean he knew Tupac name and he knew Afeni too.
People want to discredit Afeni and what she went through raising Pac and sister but give Billy a pass when he came around after Pac blew up. Where was he when Pac was in the school of fine arts, living the projects and living with an mother who was also part of the panther and if you watch his interviews he actually admits he was on drugs really bad and was unable to maintain a relationship with Tupac. Everybody know how drug addicts disappear and pop up. More than likely he was on and off drugs untill he saw his son on the big screen with some money and now he want to be a father just like Omar Epps father did him. 😢

Billy knew the entire time that Tupac was his son and knew how to get in touch with him because him and his mom knew the same people.
When he found out he was in a movie did he show any interest or let his other kids know Tupac existed.
He went on his way and would've kept going if Tupac didn't become famous.

All respect to Afeni Shakur and may she rest in peace, but after hearing Billy's side of story, it is obvious that he was lied to. Pac loved his biological father. A lot of times women use kids to manipulate or stress out the fathers just because things didn't work out in their favor, and this case is one of them. As Pac mentioned in many of his songs that Afeni was a crack addict and wasn't stable and she moved around a lot because of her political ties. Billy Garland raised his other children and I don't think he'd have a problem raising Pac. People should always listen to both sides of the story before labelling anybody as a deadbeat.
