Beautiful elm! its come so far from last year! I am not sure about pines myself but I will admit that this is the first time I've had someone explain and demonstrate the candles so that was a nice video for me! thanks Candice!
Very nice video Candice and I'm liking the look of the little pine. The Elm is coming along, they grow so fast I'm sure your be back to pruning this in only a few months!
Great reminder about the Mugo Candice. Both of mine are really shooting out now so it looks like I have something else to do tomorrow. Love the Chinese Elm :)
@@Candice.BonsaiScience This is also birthday month in our family (3 within 10 days). Not sure if that co-incides with me returning fromdeployments at sea 🤔
I’m really diggin the work you’re showing on your elm. I’m only a few weeks behind you, and it’s awesome learning from you just before I go do it myself. Thank you, Candice
Hello Candice, I'm new to your channel, I'm Christine from Belgium. That Chinese Elm really looks great after it has been pruned and the Mugo pine is quite adorable (I prefer smaller bonsai over the big ones).
They harden off outside to 28f - when temps start staying less then that they move to the cold room that is kept 33-39f. I stop controlling the room in March as they have had well over the required dormancy hours at that point. I start bringing the lights up to 8-10 hours and the temps come up to the mid 40’s. Usually within 2 weeks - so around mid March the deciduous trees then start pushing and the conifers/junipers start a few weeks after that - so beginning of April ish.
Hi Candace. I am also a member of MBS, and it was suggested to me from a friend in the UK to get ahold of you. I have a mini twisted white pine that is in a bonsai pot. It has turned a yellow color, but not dropped many of it's needles. After researching mini twist white pines, it says they like acidic soil. Do you recommend and type of fertilizer for it? I', desperate for help.

Everytime you turn around it seems lol
Thanks for the carnage Candice! You can start an elm forest with all those cuttings! 🐦💙
This is a no cuttings zone 🤣
Great to see a woman in bonsai!!! Keep it up
Nice work Candice! That Chinese elm looked great after you trimmed it
It’s coming along for sure!
Wonderful video as always Candice. I look forward to more Elm tips!
Thanks Bobcat

This time of year there’s always a reminder of something else we still have to do 🤣 It’s like hurry up and wait and then it’s all coming at once

Thank you Tiomas

A few more Elms on Monday with a little more discussion and a lot more pruning 🤣
@@Candice.BonsaiScience I am attempting a tourniquet on my little guy. 😳
No guts no glory
@@baldyeti for an airlayer? It works great from my experience

Wow! on the Chinese Elm!
It’s way better then last year already! So that’s always good lol
Great spring work Candice!!
It’s finally here Nigel!!!
With the exception of a drop to 30f next week and some snow flurries 😂
Love you too Candice. I think my Central Park Chinese Elms are about ready for their first post-flush pruning as well.
I did mine yesterday! I think the video is set to air Monday!
Can't wait to see them pruned up Steve!!

I also prefer my small trees Christine - if you like Elms and tiny trees tune in Monday!
@@Candice.BonsaiScience I will certainly do !
Good video Candice.
I’m not sure on pines yet myself.
Take loooooong to grow 👍👍
Take so long to look like a ‘shape’ pleasing to the eye 🤣
How was this tree wintered? Curious because yours seems further into "spring" than mine and I'm in a warmer zone than you.
Thanks for sharing!
The mugo pine

^^ the Mugo pine
My Chinese Elms get pulled out of the cold room the first week of March and get put in a south facing window to start growing.
