In my earlier years of location recording, ELAM251s were somewhat common. I recall Linda Ronstadt’s producer bringing 4 for toms, of all things. Real ones are pretty scarce now.
I can't imagine 4 of them in the same room. Those damn things go for $10k new nowadays, and I have my doubts if they're the same as the originals. But one day it'd be fun to try out an original.

I have the "original" version of the tf47 the telefunken ak47, It's amazing on vocal, would not live without it XD looking foward to try the tf51 one day
@@AndyKingCo Every interface komes with its own built in mic pre’s. As long as he has a interface, the tf51 kan plug right into it, and since the tf51 komes with its own mic pre to power it there’s no need for a external preamp. Of kourse having a nice external preamp helps the mic generate a overall better quality sound.

I’ve watched a lot of your reviews/comparison videos and I think the TF51 is the best sounding mic on your voice. I’d love to see a TF51 compared to a Warm Audio Wa-251.
If you yodeled into the Austrian style 251, I think that is where the "too spicy" line is for youtube .... or if you want to get scorched off the platform then you could probably just make factual counterpoints about some current events narratives. Don't question authority! The people who once told us to do that are the authority now and they aren't having any of that!
I think the TF-47 just blends better with most genre's you want to throw at it
Danke!
This was the vs we were looking for!
I like that 51... it's nice
Yeah it's super tasty.
Even Bandrew's half-assed videos are 5x better than most mic reviews out there!
“Oh lemme ‘review’ this mic while 90% of the video is me using my camera mic to speak”
You are too kind Travis!
The mids just sound better on the 51. Ordering it tomorrow
Has a bit more weight but on the 47 they're more prominent

THANK YOU FOR THIS REVIEW! Just about to buy the TF51 and couldn't find any good reviews on it.

@@ItzrealMusic haha indeed
thumbnail looks really nice
Spending a whopping 30 seconds on thumbnails sometimes pays off.
🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷👏🏻, Amazing mic! Love Telefunken!
51 really makes you sound good
U87 vs TF51 is possible for test ?
Would love this! Trying to see if the extra $1600 is “worth” it (whatever worth means obviously it’s subjective)
@@danielsaintmusicwhat did you decide?
@@unrealmikeb I got the TF51 and use it in every session! Sounds absolutely incredible on vocals
I gota get a Quality tube mic. Man do i love that soft "tubisch" Sound. You recomend a budget tube mic? 600$ Budget
I mean there are a lot of reviews, but your opinion is Gold worth since you relly heard a lot of mics ur selfe
That TF51 sounds better....I wish this review had singing though..
Mmm bet wouldn't say that if heard a vocal performance
Really liked the TF51 on your voice, TF47 seems a bit too mid forward and seems to even have a ringing on your voice.
Yo! How does this compare to the Telefunken TF39???
It doesn’t
Quick question: Do you need a preamp for the TF51?
No it’s actually a tube mic, so it komes with it’s on pre.
@@LifeGotIt thanks!
Yes you do! For every mic.

@@LifeGotIt You really don't have a clue do you?
how about phantom power? Can I turn the phantom power on the mixer?
late reply: tf51 does have its own power supply so you don't have to turn the phantom power on
Dropped a like for the Forrest Gump reference.
Do you own these? Quite the collection you've got going either way!
Yes sir. WOrking to grow it for years and reinvesting everything I earn on youtube back into gear for more videos. Keeps it interesting.
