Does it matter how much Patriot costs- Ukraine is the only country that needs it right now. Is it such a problem to give Ukraine a total of seven systems, out of the one hundred and eighty eight systems the US already has? wtf is the probelm? US get these systems into UK already. They will be cost effective in Infrastructure saved as well as civilian lives!

Poland has already taken into account, Ukraine may be defeated within one or two years by Russia, since the collective West pursues the strict non-escalation doctrine of their architects Jake Sullivan (US) and Jens Plötner (DE). And there is just another problem around the corner: China. As Putins most recent visit showed, Xi is now fully supporting Putins war against western democracies. This is simply a strategic support, since Xi wants to take Taiwan in 2025 or 2026. And he needs Russia as a gas station. Since Poland, the Baltic nations and Moldova recognize a clear and present danger being invaded by Russia, they do everything to buy and build as much weaponry as possible. Since money is scarce, there is no room for donations. Furthermore, Trump might be reelected in November. This woul dbe the end of NATO. Things are not as easy, as they seem.

I liked Obama but he really missed the boat on Putin and Russia. We are of the same generation, born in the early 1960's and came of age in the late 70's. The WWII generation were in control of our society and WWII was very much the largest event of the century. The lessons of Hitler and Chamberlain, appeasement, and the Nuremberg Trials were very well known and taught.
I suspect Obama felt that there was no way he could convince the Republicans here in the States and the Europeans that the foregone conclusion of Russian aggression in Crimea and the Donboss regions of Ukraine meant war, and the best thing was total commitment to the removal of all Russian forces from Ukraine by the US and NATO ASAP.
Putin banked on the timid, gun-shy nature of civilized people that haven't had to face a relentless aggressor for eighty years.
All this nonsense about giving in to Putin because he has Nuclear weapons is ridiculous. I grew up with the threat of Atomic War everyday. It didn't happen because the Soviets knew that the WWII generation of Americans and Britons wouldn't hesitate to push their buttons and burn Russia to a crisp. But all those Generals and leaders are gone now and all we have is the current crop of quibblers and hand wringing, betternotters.

I’m an American that is a huge supporter of Ukrainian Aid and our Legislature in my opinion should have delivered on the aid months ago. However we are a Representative Democracy and our process is what it is. The USA has approved and sent approximately 20 Billion Dollars worth of military support to Ukraine and we just approved another 61 Billion from Congress and then another 6 Billion in emergency aid authorized by the President in emergency aid. That is equal to $2,000 for every citizen in Ukraine and that is putting our money where our mouth is in support to the Courageous and deserving people of Ukraine. But I can say many Americans are getting tired of Europeans making snarky remarks and this report was riddled with them. Ukraine can get more Patriots from the US and it could come out of the aid already approved. Or the EU could step up and offer to pay more for the military aid from the US and individual countries in the EU could do the same? Norway is one of the richest if not the richest country on earth per capita, they could easily offer to purchase 5-6 more patriots for Ukraine. Look at the sacrifices Denmark and Netherlands are doing in going all in as is Czech Republic’s, Baltics, Poland, Romania have been doing so much more as is the UK, but France needs to get the lead out and so does Germany. I will pat the EU on the back for the economic support to keep Ukraines economy going during the war, but more needs to be done by all Western Allies. Stop complaining about your biggest benefactor and get your own house in order and every once in a while you should recognize the sacrifices Americans make in sending money to support our friends in Europe instead of spending it on our own people domestically. Take a reality check and give it some thought before you just blame US?

What can be blamed on the US?
The US representatives who held up the aid, at such a critical time, have blood on their hands and will have even more in the days to come.
Not one of them deserves a vote from anyone ever again.
Ukraine had tremendous momentum, most of it now lost and they are working from a much more difficult position to conduct offensive operations.
      It was beyond reprehensible.
As far as the numbers on the aid:
Most items provided Ukraine have carried a brand new, off the assembly line, retail price and value when they should be tallied as scrap or obsolete.
Some are getting shipped to Ukraine instead of being destroyed

@@AP-RSI Ukraine is not a member of NATO, you remember that, right? It's amazing that you think the country that has offered BY FAR the most weapons and aid to Ukraine is selfish.
You do also realize that Russia is not remotely the only enemy out there, as China comes to mind, if they try to take Taiwan. The US was outspending EVERY European nation, and has been for a long time, and I mean percentage of GDP, not just in total.
The commenter you responded to said he fully supports Ukraine, he just said that something other than punishment might be nice for giving hundreds of billions of dollars worth of aid to Ukraine. Bo good deed goes unpunished. And much of Europe has the same far right moronic types that we do in effect there, so there's that. I think we should be giving Ukraine more, too, but calling us selfish for giving what we have is just nonsense.
I would suggest that maybe the EU and European NATO members could have pulled their heads out of their asses, save a few, and spent what they SHOULD HAVE on defense, and maybe not courted Russia, as well. I could say that Europe just increasing their wealth without spending even the two percent suggested, some of them not even a third of that, instead of the 4.5% we have been spending was industrial strength stupid. It's always the same, those who do not plan and spend for the future (the ones that could, anyway) suddenly cry 'selfish' or whatever other such word, when we don't just open the floodgates for weapons transfer into Ukraine. That is crap.
Also, Ukraine TOTALLY had their heads up their asses, or buried in the sand, and didn't believe, THE DAY BEFORE RUSSIA INVADED, that the hundreds of thousands of troops massing on their borders had their sights on Ukraine, even though they were shown evidence of that buildup, and warned by the West that the invasion was imminent, I believe 'within days' was in the last such warning. This is a country that lost 4-7 MILLION people the last go round, and I;m not even talking about those lost in battle. How soon they forget. They were under Russia's HEEL just THIRTY years ago, which means that likely a VERY LARGE portion of the Ukrainian population was alive at that time,. I'm not ragging on Ukraine, just pointing out facts, and facts that they well know themselves.

And all we have given is 1% yes 1% of our yearly military budget , while also and most importantly not losing a single American life. This is a great deal. Also, the "military industrial complex" that has been sucking $$ from us since Pres. Harry S. Truman warned us about it getting worse in coming decades IS NOW ACTUALLY CREATING GOOD PAYING CASH BACK INTO OUR ECONOMY BY NEEDING TO SUPPLY MILITARY AID TO UKRAINE, SOOOO FOR EVERY MILLION WE GIVE UKRAINE, WE GET BACK MORE THAN 3/4 A D GET RID OF OUTDATED WEAPONS THAT WOULD BE WASTED ANYWAY!
