- This thing. This fast, horrifying thing. Yeah, I make it look silly in the thumbnail and video, but dang it this thing scared the bajeesus out of me.
Welcome, to one of the various direct threats towards the player. Well, threat in this case means just biting your butt and causing you to fall over multiple times. It's a threat nonetheless, and this one is even a direct reference to a creature from the developer's previous game!
In a nutshell, it seems this creature will only spawn on the outskirts of the map, so anywhere near the fence barriers and past them. It does have an idle state, but its hearing is excellent so a player's first contact will usually be the hound making a beeline towards them.
For anyone reading this, are you all okay with me having these... sillier edited thumbnails? If so, or if not, let me know your thoughts in the comments. I don't want to take too much away from the mystique of the game, but I also am having fun making these dumb little thumbnails with my critter in various states of distress.

When you were prancing back to base with that wet floor sign, I was imagining a tiny gremlin gleefully skipping through the fields, wet floor sign held aloft like a trophy, only to be suddenly and unceremoniously yeeted down the hill, tumbling head-over-heels before coming to a stop, peering up at the clouds in confusion as to what the fuck just happened and then bolting back up in panic at the thought of losing the precious wet floor sign it had treasured so dearly. The poor lil' grem, bitten in the butt by a naughty cryptid and deprived of the serotonin provided by its kleptomania-induced indulgence in random tat.
Damned aliens. They're the reason we can't have nice things.

one of my favorite things about this game is slowly understanding how the creatures and threats operate until by the end you’re just fucking with them and prodding them with a metaphorical or literal stick to find out more
Mannequins used to be terrifying. Now everyone has a name and if any one of them breaks, I will be very sad.

2:40 the ragdoll physics of this game never cease to entertain me
Spazmatic Banana's recent VOTV upload has a couple really good ragdoll scenes dubbed with Ed Edd n Eddy sound effects and it enhances the experience so much
it's wonderful how different ragdolls can seem when they're experienced in first person
I can't wait for joel to find this and have his entire "safe during the day" philosophy crumble

People found out that if you went down the well, and took a sleeping bag with you and slept in the sleeping bag it would teleport you somewhere else. A maze like area with skulls all over the walls.
Sounds like some kind of catacombs.

i love how in the update they shifted some of the horror to more "earthly" things (this, the forest curse, all the weird old structures) instead of the aliens and the signals
this thing's been in since .5.0 it's just rare. heck, the "hell" portal's been in since .4.

That pink crystal is definitely intriguing. Though I'm more curious about the well, either that water is really shiny or its mercury. Also I think the thumbnail is fine.
The pink crystal is a "life crystal" Fossilhounds are from another one of Eternity's games called UD, and in that game it's established that the pink crystals basically cause inanimate objects to become sentient and violent.

A dog thats made out of bones that constantly bullies the player by knocking them over, i like that idea.
I had the walking mannequin event happen so I tossed them into the small bit of water in the base and just left them there.
It has been about three days, and they are still trying to get out.
Set them on fire to get rid of them.

that looks like a rozital's lifecrystal embedded in that thing's eye socket. is it possible that this is a rozital that decided to occupy something other than it's usual robotic anpfer shell? is that why it went insane and is hostile? so many questions. lore boar wants more lore.
I dont even really think these are in the same general ballpark of content. But watching these videos give me the same enjoyment as Zulliethewitches videos. Just short little gameplay detail analysis videos with no speaking. Its nice.

If I am not mistaken, that pink crystal is the same as the cores of rozitals, which are the rozitals' primary energy source for them to keep functioning as well as their "soul" sorta, without it they would not only power down but also lose their personality. Perhaps the skeleton of a dog could count as an automaton and attaching such crystal to it would animate it?

It's an old "enemy" and IMO the most annoying one because it simply won't give up and you can be pretty much perma ragdolled
I was in sandbox mode with deleted trees, i flew over to that rock pile (with the cabinet) and saw an animal there but suddenly it just disappeared!
EDIT: I just managed to kill one, it was in fact a deer, it gibbed and was really bloody. You can store the limbs but they have no name and description. (I have no clue how I killed it I was messing with the buttons under the map)

Here's another thing for you to check out. Since 0.6.0 added transformers around the map, the tutorial needed to be updated to reflect that. This new tutorial has a few secrets, most notably something I'm calling the Argemia Antibreather.
In the tutorial, the first room with a desk has a platform to the top right. The easiest way up there is by dragging the desk over and tilting it against the wall to make a ramp. Going down the hall will then reveal the Argemia Antibreather.
Other than that, all I could find other than that was some messages hidden behind walls and in tutorial hints ("..." behind the start room, "just ignore them" under the floor in one of the corners (need to crouch), "do not expect anything" behind the wall in the computer room (under the water and under the slide into the room), "it was great, why do things have to be changed?" in one of the small pools in the computer room, "does this place look familiar to you?" In a tutorial hint in the next room, "stop trying" in the middle window of the server room, "i do not need to hide" under the stairs in the server room, "it has to be that way" on top of the transformer (need the chair)) and a handful of skulls (that I don't think do anything). Also, the respawn button (Numpad .) works here too.
Edit: From v0.6.1, the respawn button (Numpad .) now takes you to a separate area, in the same style as the rest of the tutorial, but with more water. There are two hints here, one that says "curiosity kills" and another that says "I am afraid of water", as well as 11 flowing pipes - 10 on the sides and 1 on a pedestal at the end - and one of the pipes isn't flowing. I haven't found if there's anything else going on there yet.

since you picked up a key stone for the green locker, I always wondered if you can drop the drone in there or not. I know the player can't, but the drone should fit if there's no invisible wall.

I did end up getting that actually! It's such a short, sweet, yet pretty spooky event.

While the new scares are cool, I preferred the more subtle horror of past updates..
No true direct threats, just fucking horrifying implications and the paranoia of seeing something out of corner of your eye.
Hopefully this dog gets nerfed or changed soon, its too annoying in its current state.
yeah I don't see the appeal on it, the design is bland since you can't really make sense of it and not in the good eldritch way, it's annoying and not a threat and it's quite obvious for a monster, smaller than you but not sufficiently threatening

I downloaded the game and played on Infinite mode, nothing happened so far. Does it only happen in story mode?
This particular event can happen in any mode. Events are reasonably rare; story mode has the added bonus of having scripted events, so I strongly urge anyone to play that one. It has a whole 42 days of increasingly bigger events. After the 42 days it turns into its own Infinite mode.
@@soft_gremlin1845 That's really good to know, I started with Infinite mode since I pretty much got spoiled the main story so far. In infinite mode I'm at like day 6 and nothing weird happened (YET), which puts me in a false state of being safe.
