Stumbled upon this channel today and your collection is unreal! However, I'm in awe of the production value of your channel and videos. Great job producing these videos they look great!
Thanks for the feedback, it's alway good to hear that what I'm making resonates with some people. I'm really happy with the collection, it's taken 30yrs😅
I absolutely love your YT channel. It brings back in time when I enjoyed playing the Sega Mega Drive A LOT. Thanks for sharing with us your journey and to give us the possibility to learn from you.
Well, who knew you could overdose on nostalgia? I’m going to need a week to recover from this… but will watch it just one more time…. I can give it up anytime, you know… just one more time…
I’m just curious as to what is your favourite part about collecting? I’m a new collector and I have to confess that my favorite part seems to be finding the games, battering a deal and opening them when they turn up (if not bought in store some place). Playing them is definitely secondary (although I make sure I play each game I buy to completion). This means I spend too much time spending money 🙈 😂
I enjoy learning about the games, the teams that made them and the impact they have. So more of a focus on the historical. But form pure collecting, I love meeting and learning from people and of course the physical aspects like the boxes and manuals. I also love playing the games. I play about 20hrs a week on the Mega Drive.
I love those old UK Mega Drive ads. The "Genesis Does" campaign is iconic, obviously, but the UK ads did a better job of making the console seem cool and fun to play. I say this without any nostalgia for either (too young I'm afraid).
Excellent collection and a great video Mike. My Life in Gaming just put out a video about the SNES Superscope. The described it being hot and miss with some games....the turned up brightness or contrast which seemed to help (without rewatching can't remember which one, sorry). It might help with your Menacer issues. Being such a light gun fan I can't believe we don't have one yet 🤷
I have just found your channel as wanting to rebuild my sega collection. Instantly subscribed after watching this episode, very knowledgable and an absolutely awesome collection! I look forward to now taking a deep dive and trawling through all of your content 👍🏻

Another brilliant video Mike! It's awesome seeing these games in such great condition! I also have quite a few games for this system but a lot have damaged boxes or no manual!
Your collezione is absolutly fantastic, mike. I'm so envy, love all the ea sets or your rarest cartridge. My collection is so small if compared but invece one that u may want too, i think... paprium, one big crazy, gorgeous beat'em'up that i really love. Anyway, good luck for the rest of your search, u're the best
I'm still waiting for my Paprium to arrive. I bought the Limited edition in the second run. I've also just backed the PS4 Kickstarter and bought the 10yr Aniversary of Pier Solar.
Fantastic video Mike. I grew up with the Mega Drive too, and still have my collection and console. I see you had the full Sonic Collection, but didn't show too much love towards the series. Is it not in your top games on the MD? I love the Strike Series (Jungle is my favourite - It's better than Desert), Sonic, Streets of Rage series and a few racing games, Micro Machines, Rock n Roll Racing and Street Racer!
I really like some of the compilation collections they released on the Mega Drive. As someone new to collecting and just wanting to get as many good games as I can, they’re a godsend. Mega Games 2 cost me £15 and you get Golden Axe, Streets of Rage 1 and Revenge of Shinobi. I’m sure to buy the individual releases of those you’re looking at well over £50, possibly more. And the Classic Collection gets you Gunstar Heroes plus Altered Beast, Alex Kidd and Flicky. I only got it for Gunstar Heroes but that game on its own seems to be over £100 these days, whereas the Classic Collection cost me £20!
Great video Mike. I really enjoy the indy game Part but seeing a collection vid like this really spurs me on to continue with my Master System collection. 👍👍👍

I didn’t realise how many Marvel properties had games would you be able to do a video of all the Marvel games you have? Also any outstanding you are yet to collect please? Thanks again great work!
Of course, as I'm getting close to a full collection I'm going to be covering a number of different sub collections. The Marvel collection will be one of the videos.

Need to redo my collection vids really now I'm almost on a land mark number of pal UK titles only but, I can't compete with this camera work 😉 👏
Your into the very low numbers for the full UK collection aren't you. That's so awesome. I'm looking at some titles and I have no idea how I'm going to get them.
I have 50 left to get for the UK set so I'm not far off 500 titles, once I get there tbh I will be content for a while... knowing the rest needed will cost so much. Once again Mike really enjoyed this as usual 👏
@@RetroGamerBoy im from Australia im trying to collect for sega megadrive but now it’s getting very expensive but I took some idea from you what to look for thank you very much for your video and keep up the great job
love this channel, just started collecting a few months ago, already have a gen 2 tower of power and about 60 games so far but i cant decide where to draw the line with the collection. 32x and mega cd are a bit pricy so am just bulk filling with basic boxed games at the moment but figured id start with the mini collections but cant seem to find lists of them anywhere, im in Australia so not worried about Genesis or UK/EU games at this stage. any idea where i can go to find lists of mini collections?
You would have thought it would be easy to find, but every list I've found has something missing. I use the retro games collector app. This will have 99% of what you need. You can the add titles that are missing to improve the accuracy of the app.
Looking very nice. Just a bit of friendly advice when buying some of the games you need...... have save searches for these. Sea quest, foreman for real boxing( The blue spine game not the k.o one. All the cardboard ballistic games and Normys beach babe o rama off the top of my head. Took me ages to find these CIB in box in good condition. This was a few years ago now, so things are may be different. All the best.
Amazing collection and great video! While I prefer the SNES, the plastic boxes (especially PAL) look great with beautiful cover art, really collectable.
Okay I'll say it, that S&K box is in great condition! Also have you seen that Paprium is on Kickstarter along with Pier Solar as you mentioned wanting to pick one up in a previous video?
Shane Warren Fatal Fury 2 Daze Before Christmas ECCO Jr And a boxing game I can remember off hand. Fatal Fury 2 is the one that does not come up often.
@@RetroGamerBoy never seen Ecco jr I will have to keep a eye out for that one. I do wonder if the the Shane warren game will go up in price now? Just looked on e-bay WOW from $60 AU with no booklet to $170 ouch free shipping with the $170 so that is something I guess.
Huge and beatiful MD collection...keep it up :P On the Konami side i d almost add Junction....yes that one was published and developed by Micronet..but under Konami license
Ya I included that in my video about the Konami collection. Currently though I'm not going for the Japanese collection. I love it but it is super expensive.
Awesome mega drive collection Mike! Sounds like you are doing great picking up games still even with the crazy market. Keep it up brotha 🤟 ps that's a lot of Sega! Don't let Tom get his hands on it😂😂😂
I know you are going for a pal collection, but you really need the bare knuckle trilogy. Not only is the box artwork awesome, it was a real shame how they butchered the western release of streets of rage 3, so you have to absolutely own bare knuckle 3.
I will at some point be picking up a load of Japanese games, and that is on the list. I'm waiting until I go over to Japan again. I'm hoping to buy a few there.
14:13 with the fifas you make no mention of the blue sticker variant from the original fifa international, i only just found this out as i have the gold version in my collection and a fifa bundle i got for a fair price (only wanted some EA case upgrades for minor damaged ones) had the blue variant, also confirmed on segaretro, and again the blue variant has 2 variants of its own due to the instruction manual being either 4 languages or 5 languages
@@RetroGamerBoy nobodys faking fifas, especially when a different sticker doesnt add any value to the item, all the fifas are shit and sports titles, no value in them, except maybe fifa 98 being the very last official game on the megadrive during its supported life run
This is awesome, I give you my compliments! I'm a big Sega fan, I’m creating my own megadrive cartridge collection. Most European, then I have the Japanese Bare Knuckle trilogy plus other Japanese titles. I have something for Genesis but in lower numbers than the other titles. At the moment I am at the modest number of eighty games. Plus I have a little part dedicated to the Dreamcast and Saturn.
Great video, awesome collection. I recently completed collecting all the consoles I had as a kid and I've started on the games, I picked up a boxed Shadow of the beast 2, which I didn't see on your EA shelf. I'd gladly donate it to your collection in exchange for any doubles you may have for 8/16 bit Sega/ Nintendo consoles? * to get my collection started, I only have a handful for each.
That's very kind, but I've just picked that up. And at the moment I don't have many doubles. If you drop by the Facebook group Galaxy Sega you may find some good value bundles to help you kick start things.
That's some collection! I myself didn't own a Genesis until 1997 towards the end of it's run, but I owned plenty of games before that. I had a SNES and my best friend at the time had a Genesis, so if a game came out for Genesis I wanted to play, I'd just buy it and play it at his house. Nintendo boys (and girls) missed out on a lot of unique titles, like "Haunting (Starring Polterguy)", Phantasy Star series and of course the Streets of Rage series. I love beat'em ups too, even though they're far less popular today. I actually just started playing one on PS4 called 9 Monkeys of Shaolin. It's pretty cool so far.
note to self: force mike to use the 8bitdo M30 I got myself the Fighter Stick MD-6 from Asciiware recently and the stick and buttons feel exactly like the NES advantage but for the Mega Drive. Some people don't like Arcade Sticks unless they have micro switches but those arenot necesary to play a good old SMUP. for real though use the 8bitdo M30 it's pure Mega Drive perfection
I'll get one, I wanted the branded ones first though, they feel very similar and you can actually just buy the wireless adapter from retrobit and mod you original pad.
Great job... It is hard to find game with Box and manual... But I found some place online selling after market box with the insert, not sure about manual
Firstly love your videos Mike 👍 and totally agree the Megadrive is the best system. Seeing as you have such a great collection which game do you still want that you don’t have 👍
Absolutely beautiful What a video all that stunning MegaDrive 🤩🤤 The menacer is an absolute pain to get working reliable I found everything else turned off a darkened room and brightness up helps but not ideal lol That Mega Cd looks a beauty mate You should sell that Lakers to fund getting the rest of your collection Bro 🤣 The few that own it will say it’s part of the set but is it really as it never got that retail Release I will say it ain’t because unless I win the lottery it’s never gonna be in my Sega wall 🤣🤣🤣 I’m biased but your collection is awesome Bruv
Ya Lakers is the biggest waste of money. I'm glad I have it, but I would not pay for it. The game is worth like £5 so its £4k for a sleeve and manual. It's not part of a full set, it's just a historical piece in the collection. The same goes for rare variations.
@@RetroGamerBoy Haha. I had the urge to come over and do it myself. I still can't figure if the right order of a collection should be alphabetical, release order, or by genre!
@@ErikLosLobos i generally group them together by year of release, also sometimes genre and series/seqals next to each other! the spine designs look stupid if mixed
It's in it's correct case. It's the Konami branded case with the correct patent number. The gen 2 Sega clam shells that Sega produced had the tab fasteners, Konami and other 3rd party case and cart producers did not have this.
@@RetroGamerBoy was asking because I'm working on my first open world game its on my channel prototype can you give me feedback, any from experienced developers is a bonus for me.
WOW! You can build your on fortress with your outstanding Sega collection Mike. Now that's what I call dedication to the franchise and the company bro. Just look at all those fantastic goodies. 8^) Anthony..
It depends on what you count. 543 is the number I see banded around but this does not include variants and variants that have ROM changes. I'm finding more games I had no idea existed every month.
My menacer works, well it did last time i used it on my 20" curved CRT TV (been a while since i felt like playing it), wish mine had internal packaging tho, just outer box thats losing its shape
@@RetroGamerBoy obvious two things would be 1. gun is faulty, or 2. sensor is faulty, or even rarer both have issues, i should really make sure mine still works shortly
I'm just wondering if they all work cuz I mean who's gonna actually try out all those fifa games, Mike? I tried jungle strike didn't like it, but I always hear people singing its praises. There's just not enough music during the stages for my liking. I've got to have me some great retro mega drive music while I play. Don't forget Rocket Knight adventure it's better than Sparkster to me. Great collection Mike wish you lived by me so I could play a £700+ mega drive game 😂
I play every single game I buy, I give the sports game 2 or 3 exhibition matches, unless they are really something I enjoy. Sensible Soccer, NBA Jam etc. I love Rocket Knight, it's one of my all time favourite games.
Mate. Aussie here. 🇦🇺🇦🇺 I'm wondering if you might know of a game I've been trying to remember.. it's possible it's a mega drive game, but it was an Arcade game I remember that was one I'd play back in the day. Basically Golden Axe is my favourite series and I grew up on playing GA1 alot.. but I always thought that this game I'm trying to remember was actually Golden Axe II.. but then I got hold of Golden Axe II and it's great but not what I was trying to remember from back when. Whenever I look into it I'm led towards its probably Castlevania? But I recall the character walking along and using like a chain or whip type weapon. Definitely not Castlevania. It's more like Altered Beast style. Can't pin down what it was. Or whether I'm just remembering a whole mashup of old-school games but however many RUclips videos I look up I haven't seen the game again. Definitely a golden axe / altered beast style game
Blasphemy! The PGA series is the best. 96 kind of sucks because they tried this weird Polygon engine that loads super slow. But PGA 1-3 and the European Tour one are some of the best examples of 16bit golf games. I played those a ton with my Dad when I was a kid.
@@RetroGamerBoy I think most of these are based on memories. But I remember these golf games was the easiest way to get families to play. And it totally worked with the pass along controller method of playing. For me Neo Turf masters is my fave retro golf games, but the PGA games come close.
I have about 80 titles and I'm almost done.. Mind you I have 40 percent pal, 50 percent genesis and 10 percent Japanese. I bet I have some of those exclusives you need.
@@RetroGamerBoy The Arcade Power Stick 6b, or the Arcade Power Stick 2. But only the Japan Versions have the "Microswitch"(the clicker Sound in the Stick)

I have 50 left to get for the UK set so I'm not far off 500 titles, once I get there tbh I will be content for a while... knowing the rest needed will cost so much.
Once again Mike really enjoyed this as usual 👏
Look at all the mega drive games and the tech, it's a Sega paradise. I wanna spend a day in that room haha, I love this console so much.
Same here it's amazing, I get lost in it far too often.
Amazing mate good selections 💪
Thanks
Great collection
Thank you very much. It makes me happy.
@@RetroGamerBoy im from Australia im trying to collect for sega megadrive but now it’s getting very expensive but I took some idea from you what to look for thank you very much for your video and keep up the great job
What a fantastic collection 👍👍👍👍
Why thank you sir.
love this channel, just started collecting a few months ago, already have a gen 2 tower of power and about 60 games so far but i cant decide where to draw the line with the collection.
All the cardboard ballistic games and
Normys beach babe o rama off the top of my head.
Took me ages to find these CIB in box in good condition.
This was a few years ago now, so things are may be different. All the best.
They are still hard to come by. The cardboard box games come up often but the condition is the problem with these.
Amazing collection and great video! While I prefer the SNES, the plastic boxes (especially PAL) look great with beautiful cover art, really collectable.
That's one thing Sega did get right.
I’m pleased you love decap attack. I played a lot of it in my youth. Probably between that and the hyper stone heist for my most played game. 👍
Ya it's such a great game. It was a real surprise when I bought it.
Okay I'll say it, that S&K box is in great condition! Also have you seen that Paprium is on Kickstarter along with Pier Solar as you mentioned wanting to pick one up in a previous video?
I have and I have my order in. Can't wait to play them in 2026😂
Same here 😂
@@RetroGamerBoy you might want to mention the KS in a video in case other people are interested. If they don’t mind waiting like us 😂
I was thinking about that, but I'm sure it will just get trolled heavily 😱
Nice collection! I’m catching up to you. 👍
😂 That's awesome. It would be great to see your collection when it's finished.
Very nice👍👍
Thank you very much.
Excellent Mega drive Collection I would love to know the five Australian titles you need
Shane Warren
Fatal Fury 2
Daze Before Christmas
ECCO Jr
And a boxing game I can remember off hand.
@@Retrospectreviews ya the prices are ridiculous online. I'm trying to find shops and markets to buy these games now.
@@RetroGamerBoy I try to do the same but I find here in Australia a lot of the shop who have retro games now go by the Ebay prices.😞
@@Retrospectreviews I'm starting to find the same. I used to go to charity shops and find games there but now the charity shops just sell on eBay.
Don't let Tom get his hands on it😂😂😂
Don't worry, I have a bear trap outside. Especially for him.
I'm not really into the sticker variants. I was put off them when I learned how people were able to fake these easily and charge more for their game.
That sounds like a great collection of games.
@@RetroGamerBoy Thank You so much 🔝🕹️
Wanna see a vid of you taking it off and putting it all back on the shelf’s 🥳
Mate it took me 2hrs to make the tumb nail. I hauled the entire collection downstairs and then back up to film it.
@@RetroGamerBoy definitely wanna see a vid of that 🤣👍
Great video, awesome collection.
No worries, I'll go check that out right now.
That's amazing!!!
Thanks😁👍
Now I will lay down a challenge for you :)
Try to collect the import Sega Genesis games. The games that were exclusive to Japan only.
Good luck ;)
OH god no!!! I will have to sell my kids...🤔
@@RetroGamerBoy Oh.
That's cool. I had a SNES as well but the Genesis just appealled more to me. I'll check that beat'em up out, thanks.
hai there mike... not to sound weird 😅 but you're my motivation..i love the sega era😍👏👏
Awesome! I'm glad the show has a positive effect for some people.
note to self: force mike to use the 8bitdo M30
I got myself the Fighter Stick MD-6 from Asciiware recently and the stick and buttons feel exactly like the NES advantage but for the Mega Drive.
Ya I've seen those. I've also seen a few that have manuals as well.
Firstly love your videos Mike 👍 and totally agree the Megadrive is the best system. Seeing as you have such a great collection which game do you still want that you don’t have 👍
Thanks for the kind words. I would like to pick up Soleil soon. I keep passing on it and the price keeps going up.
@@RetroGamerBoy I’d love a copy myself, missed out a few times in the past, hope you pick up a copy soon 👍
Would be good to see your top racing games on the Mega Drive
No that is a good idea.
There’s something about mega cd boxes when i see a minty one. Wouldn’t mind a whole shelf full of mega cd unit boxes
I agree, I love the Mega CD games. I can't wait to pick some more up.
my favored mega drive games of all times are LightCrusader and Landstalker...
Two brilliant games there.
I really wish I hadn’t found your channel. All I’ve done this past week is buy Megadrive games!
😂 enjoy them
Amazing stuff...
Thanks, it's great building up the collection.
@@RetroGamerBoy it is....but prices are out of control these days....let's see if this changes soon.
We are always WELCOMETOTHENEXTLEVEL because we will never forget 16 bits golden age!!!!
Yes indeed 😅👍
Great channel
Thank you very much.
Absolutely beautiful
What a video all that stunning MegaDrive 🤩🤤
The menacer is an absolute pain to get working reliable I found everything else turned off a darkened room and brightness up helps but not ideal lol
That Mega Cd looks a beauty mate
You should sell that Lakers to fund getting the rest of your collection Bro 🤣
The few that own it will say it’s part of the set but is it really as it never got that retail Release I will say it ain’t because unless I win the lottery it’s never gonna be in my Sega wall 🤣🤣🤣
I’m biased but your collection is awesome Bruv
Ya Lakers is the biggest waste of money. I'm glad I have it, but I would not pay for it. The game is worth like £5 so its £4k for a sleeve and manual. It's not part of a full set, it's just a historical piece in the collection. The same goes for rare variations.
Loved eternal champions, and mercs ❤
Eternal champions is amazing. It's hard to get good at.
£13,000 for the remaining games? You’re headshot!
It's ridiculous, at this rate I will have to sell the other child...
@@RetroGamerBoy :-D
Nice!
Thanks!
That is really something. Personally, I'd be fine with repros, but to each his own.
There are some amazing repros out there. I just picked up a Snatcher repro.
I smell a Guinness World Record that's going to happen soon!
😅 if only I had that many games.
I don't want to even think how long it took you to set up that stack 😅
Over 2hrs 😂😭
Arg my OCD hurts. Upside down labels! Haha
Ya I realized half way through stacking them. But there was no turning back, although I considered it.
12:08 shame it seems probotector isnt in its correct blue box case or am i just being too picky?
It's in it's correct case. It's the Konami branded case with the correct patent number. The gen 2 Sega clam shells that Sega produced had the tab fasteners, Konami and other 3rd party case and cart producers did not have this.
@@RetroGamerBoy ah right, i wasnt sure if it was still a standard but konami branded case, but good to know
I would definitely like to see how well that modem works for online play
Same here, I might have to try get it running.
The best collections.
You have to love Sega's 16bit console.
retro boy, did you work on the getaway ?
I did indeed, and many other games for Sony, Xbox, Ubisoft, and 2K
@@RetroGamerBoy was asking because I'm working on my first open world game its on my channel prototype can you give me feedback, any from experienced developers is a bonus for me.
I never had problems with the Manacer when I was a kid. Haven't played it recently though. The Master System and Saturn guns are much better.
Ya I have no problem with the enforcer, it just the mencesor, apparently lots of RF can through off light gun games.
WOW! You can build your on fortress with your outstanding Sega collection Mike. Now that's what I call dedication to the franchise and the company bro. Just look at all those fantastic goodies. 8^)
Anthony..
That is exactly what my 6yr old boy said Anthony when I was stacking them. He wanted to know if I was building him a base 😂
Can you tell me exactly how many UK PAL Titles there are? I’m on 398…..
It depends on what you count. 543 is the number I see banded around but this does not include variants and variants that have ROM changes. I'm finding more games I had no idea existed every month.
You should make another video and go game by game showing every detail., that would be cool
That is going to be a long video. Maybe a live stream.
My menacer works, well it did last time i used it on my 20" curved CRT TV (been a while since i felt like playing it), wish mine had internal packaging tho, just outer box thats losing its shape
Ya I'm not sure what the issue is. The enforcers works perfectly.
Need to get the awesome japanese exclusive MD shooters
I will get to the Japanese collection. I want to complete the PAL collection first.
Interesting, maybe Alisia Dragoon?
Blasphemy! The PGA series is the best. 96 kind of sucks because they tried this weird Polygon engine that loads super slow. But PGA 1-3 and the European Tour one are some of the best examples of 16bit golf games. I played those a ton with my Dad when I was a kid.
I loved the PGA Tours too!!
I'm not a big fan. I think it's because I only started playing golf games on later systems. So I don't have the nostalgia or the context.
@@RetroGamerBoy I think most of these are based on memories. But I remember these golf games was the easiest way to get families to play. And it totally worked with the pass along controller method of playing. For me Neo Turf masters is my fave retro golf games, but the PGA games come close.
Game museum!
😂 yes it almost is.
cool video but your transition music is a lot louder then the volume of speech, i had to adjust 30 times lol, no hate, still enjoyed
It's weird when I auto tune it on the PC it sounds fine. I might have to try it on another machine. Thanks for the feedback.
Boxes upside down at the start 😂
I know. It hurts me too. I got so far in before I noticed. My OCD is off the charts looking at them.
I have about 80 titles and I'm almost done.. Mind you I have 40 percent pal, 50 percent genesis and 10 percent Japanese. I bet I have some of those exclusives you need.
I bet you do. That is a really interesting collection you have there. How did you to collect the games?
You need a Sega Arcade Stick from Japan.
Which one?
@@RetroGamerBoy The Arcade Power Stick 6b, or the Arcade Power Stick 2.
But only the Japan Versions have the "Microswitch"(the clicker Sound in the Stick)
This is crazy 🤓🔥🔥🔥🔥
It's even bigger now.
Dope 🔥
I like it 😁👍
That’s a lot of games I wonder how long did it take to make this video
Way too long. it was supposed to be a quick video. The thumb nail alone took 2hrs to make.
Wow that it a long time
Hook up with another RUclipsr to try and fix the gun like @mymatevince but probably plenty others who’d like to vlog fixing it and show it works
Thanks for the advice I check that out.
