Just wanted to acknowledge Blackbird Bates saying “who?” when Dusty said he thought the dove was an owl at first because of the sound it made. No one at the table laughed. I laughed out loud. You’re welcome.
I feel like the old Nate was back today... lately he's been there in body but not in spirit. He was light hearted and very funny today- flamingo jokes so funny😂. He seems in a happier place.
I got the pleasure of going to nateland live Monday night and got to sit 2 ft from nate who surprised us and showed up with Aaron. It was so much fun..I'd love to be able to find out who all was on the show so I can check them out...as a huge nateland fan for the last 4 years it was great to see 3/5 of the guys on today's podcast...what a treat! Thanks for an amazing experience!!!!
I don’t think there has ever really been a bad episode of Nateland, but this one was particularly enjoyable. The combination of the subject, the fact that all the hosts were there, and Joe Zimmerman was such a fun guest. He has been catapulted onto my Mount Rushmore of Nateland guests along with War Dawg and Vechionne. Have a good week fellas God bless.
The best episode - it's so great to have Nate back on Nateland (hint hint.) Such a funny episode. Mr. Joe Zimmerman is a classic and I love how he shakes up Nate. Love you all! God bless y'all.
Nate was absolutely killing it with his impressions today, the flamingo couple had me rolling, and his Barn vs. Bard owl fight was great! Love the podcast, this was an amazing episode!
“I took him (Brian) because I’m a thoughtful person. I’m pensive.” 😂 Love Nate so much. 😂 Zimmerman is a whole vibe. Smart, funny, and unabashedly himself. What a delight! More Joe! ❤ Great episode!!!
The Fab Four having Joe the guest on with his bird calls and games, listening to the quick wit jabs that even made the guest laugh at himself couldn’t get any better.
From the top Dusty is here to keep us grounded. You are correct, it’s a very sad situation for so many people and it should not be joked about. Thank you Dusty!
Who would’ve thought that the Birds podcast would’ve been the funniest podcast to date. I laughed so hard when Nate said “that’s why the flamingos have their head underwater” and “he basically said gobble”. I think we need a bird tournament in the future. Love the Pod, Trevor
I hope Nate develops a peregrine falcon bit. The idea of a giraffe saying it could go 200 mph if he jumped out of a plane made me shoot soda through my nose!
I am feeling for that guy going through chemo and I know that Nate eventually won’t have time for the podcast anymore but I hope he knows that this is not lost on us either. This podcast means a lot so thank you to the BAND for getting us through
I live about 20 mins from Paducah. And I love when Nate makes fun of it. There ain't nothing ever going on around here so we love when y'all clown it. Thanks to Brian for coming. Love the show, keep it up.
This was one of my favorite episodes to date, and I’ve listened to all of them. The topic wasn’t promising, but Joe delivered. He probably would’ve gotten along with my great-grandparents. They were ornithologists (bird scientists) that spent summers in Antarctica studying penguins, provided footage for Walt Disney nature films, and were even offered a penguin to keep by President Jimmy Carter. They politely declined. All fun facts that are probably only interesting to me and Joe.
Hilarious. When Joe started the game, they get through one question and Brian says "well, that was fun....oh...there's more?!" 😂 Like he came with a whole game for 1 question 😂😂 ...oh Brian, got to get everyone back to what's on the list
Being a Finnish American, saunas (pronounced sow-na) have been a part of my whole life. I'm surprised when people are surprised when someone has one. Dusty has the same birthday as my Mom, another reason I like him!
I also have a touch of dyslexia. It’s not debilitating but it did keep me from buying ground angus for a long time. I would see it in the grocery store and couldn’t believe they would make hamburger out of that part of the cow.
Oh my gosh, Dusty is the real life version of Bill Hader’s character, Dave, from Hot Rod and I cannot unsee it.🤣 I’m actually curious to hear Aaron’s thoughts on the movie since we’re around the same age. I’m 32 and it is one of my favorite comedies, but it’s definitely a ‘love it’ or ‘hate it’ movie. Thanks, love listening.♥️
I saw Dusty in Seattle for my Birthday-I have very bad luck. The car overheated on the way there, we were late. My husband bought me a Dusty Tshirt and in the dark theater there was confusion getting to our seats I must’ve dropped the shirt and never saw it again! Someone got a free shirt Nov9!
I look forward to Wednesday’s Nateland Podcast that I order xtra Taco Tuesday so I can have two of my favorites things at the same time. Keep it up guys.
One of my favorite episodes so far. Just a theory on why the guest bird "expert", Joe Zimmerman, got up in the middle of the episode to take a break: Hard hitting questions like: Bates: When I see a bird flying south, what kind of bird is that? and then Aaron- like a bird on a telephone pole, is that a starling? And then Nate and Aaron giving well thought out theory's on how 2 billion birds died in the late 1800's like (a billion flew into a plane-Nate, and maybe wind turbines or alternative energy-Aaron). This is all while Dusty is mumbling about pigeon burgers! Classic Nateland.
My husband used to be the president of our HOA. We had a problem with starlings in our new build neighborhood. Nightly they would flock by the thousands back to their old hood, now our new hood. People were traumatized because the birds were pooping everywhere and to get from the curb into the house was a frantic bolt to safety. Neighbors called our home demanding that my 30 year old computer scientist husband rid the area of these birds. It was a crazy time. The city finally sent air cannons and every evening they'd blast air/noise and eventually the problem went elsewhere.
These Mountain Dew ads are bananas. As someone who has enjoyed the occasional Mountain Dew, never have I felt remotely synonymous to how they are describing its effects.
I’m sad that Aaron didn’t mention he was at the Ryman with Kathleen Madigan on November 9th. I was there and Aaron was awesome! I also wish you would have Kathleen on the pod sometime. I bet she could curb her bad words for a couple hours 😂and I know she would have fun with the guys. Love you all!
Love how crossville is getting a lot of love on this episode! Born and raised and I saw Aaron perform here opening for Henry Cho and looking forward to watching breakfast bates also perform here!
You can’t convince me that Aaron has never had a “twitch” with food. Like when a Taco Bell commercial has come on, advertising their newest creation, and he has spoken out loud to an empty room, “I gotta try that.” We’ve all been there.
Warning Label needed: woke up my wife with laughter at 1:00am “giraffe could go 200 mph if you drop him out of a plane”. Great joy, followed by a stern, “What are you doing? Go to sleep!” So the podcast or marriage needs a warning label.
While I was watching this podcast this morning… right outside my kitchen window was a pair of doves resting on the fence.. we have two pairs that have been here for a few years.
Well it happened, I wet myself listening to the podcast. I am a longtime listener and huge fan of all of you. I will usually listen first on a run, and I routinely laugh hysterically while running. It must be awkward for those who I run past. But today, I laughed so hard about the giraffe falling from a plane that I wet myself in the middle of my run. Keep up the great work, and I’ll try to regroup!
I use the Merlin ID app that Cornell put out. You can ID by sound or picture! I can attest to the dopamine hit when you find a new bird. Joe’s special is my favorite one to rewatch!
In central Texas we have so many grackles. They’re way worse than pigeons in New York. There will be parking lots with hundreds of them on the powerlines at sunset. It’s like something out of a Hitchcock movie.
Nate is “the nicest guy in comedy”, but his own podcast is basically 2 hours of him bashing his buddies, and I’m here for it! As my friend would say, that’s just guys being dudes!
When Bates said birds leave chemtrails by pooping, I lost it 😂. My co workers looked at me like I was crazy. There is no podcast like this one. I love it, keep it up boys!!
I can relate so much to Aaron putting his foot in his mouth unintentionally. I felt his embarrassment. He was truly trying to be nice but the running "hang" bit made it seem negative. Did Nate fire an opener for not being a good hang or something?
Every time you start advertising Mt. Dew, I think about how it always surprises me to see an adult drinking it. It seems like the energy drink of the 70’s for teens. I’ve never had one. But I’m thinking it might be the safest way for me to have an energy drink without all the weird additives of the 2000’s. I’m over 60 years old and gonna give it a try!
Joe and I are definitely spirit animals (falcon). Great guest, love he is just himself. Go to the BR come back and they asked why didn't you do it earlier. My guy has 3 drinks in front of him😂
10 days...Sir Weber will be at Helium...right up the road from us. We have tickets, we have a hotel...we're super ready. Gonna be great. Got quite a bit of Love for y'all.
When the word pensive was brought up and Nate asked what it meant, I hoped someone was going to make a joke that it’s the new slang shortened for expensive, like plosive 😂
Back in May or June there was a nesting pair of Peregrine Falcons that had 3 three hatchlings on the Nebraska state capital building. I've also heard that they were that inspiration to the B2 bomber, but I can't confirm that.
Nobody mentioned a very popular boardgame about birds called 'Wingspan.' Joe would love it. The other fellas would gain tons of information about birds just by playing it.
"arms wide open" 🦗's... "Pigeon burger" 🦗's.. just kept on going. Love this podcast. The past by comments are some of the funniest! Can't wait to get out to one of y'all's shows! Would love to have my comment read but my name's not near fun l enough 😂
Just wanted to acknowledge Blackbird Bates saying “who?” when Dusty said he thought the dove was an owl at first because of the sound it made. No one at the table laughed. I laughed out loud. You’re welcome.
Same!! I thought it was hilarious!!!
I wish I had a friend like Brian. He's the best man on this podcast.
42:18 so many interactions like this. He cares for those around him.
He’s a friend of us all
Agree, I'm not thick skinned enough to be a "comic"
@@BillFerrero Nateland is basically Beboop's Nate Bargatze Fan-Cast.
Ok “Bill” 😉

He was great today! Very funny!
YES!!! This one felt like the old days!! 💙
I absolutely love Joe’s special! So glad you had him as a guest. The banter here was great and his personality was a nice addition to the group.
As a Nateland fan from day one and an avid bird watcher, this is pretty much the best thing to happen to me

Love the SNL George Washington/Nate Bargatze poster! That is a great addition to the studio. Best SNL ever, of course ❤
The way no one acknowledged Brian's " you should have had your arms wide open" comment is absolutely criminal.
The best episode - it's so great to have Nate back on Nateland (hint hint.) Such a funny episode. Mr. Joe Zimmerman is a classic and I love how he shakes up Nate. Love you all! God bless y'all.
My dog is losing her mind with the bird calls😂
You have yet another dedicated listener.
Same! I just opened comments to say just that :D :D
This episode is absolutely loaded with quiet Bate’s zingers. Just brilliant and ignored. lol
Nate was absolutely killing it with his impressions today, the flamingo couple had me rolling, and his Barn vs. Bard owl fight was great! Love the podcast, this was an amazing episode!
“Dusty sit this one out” 😂😂😂Aaron is the best ad reader ever!!
Funniest part that I’m afraid was largely unnoticed was when bird poop traveling 200mph was mentioned and Brian called back “terminal velocity”! 😂
For the record, I enjoyed the bird game at the end. Joe Zimmerman fits right in!
We loved the Jim Zimmerman Game! More of that!😊
“I took him (Brian) because I’m a thoughtful person. I’m pensive.” 😂 Love Nate so much. 😂 Zimmerman is a whole vibe. Smart, funny, and unabashedly himself. What a delight! More Joe!
❤ Great episode!!!
I absolutely love the George Washington poster on the back wall! He has become an icon.
+1
First thing I saw. It's great.
Me too can't stop looking at it
Love his SNL cup too!
A 100 years from now, people will mistakenly think that image of Nate is the real George Washington.
@@faithdomster5081 I want that!
Joe says rapid fire and goes slower. I love that guy! 😂
“How smart can they be if a scarecrow works ?“- Aaron and his comments 😂😂
I like to picture Nate running into Aaron at the Creed concert and Aaron has a hoodie on backwards with popcorn in the hood
The Fab Four having Joe the guest on with his bird calls and games, listening to the quick wit jabs that even made the guest laugh at himself couldn’t get any better.

Joe Zimmerman is the student in my class that asks to go to the restroom and returns with snacks from the vending machine.
I'm pretty sure Aaron mentioned he was going to see Creed in a previous episode. All of this could've been avoided 😆
Nate was on fire in this one 🤣 Joe added some great energy too, he fits right in. Love the game, you should do more games!
A guest that brings his own game segment to the pod?! Watch out Greg, Joe is gunning for the position of best guest!
When Aaron said “..a little guitar.” I couldn’t help but think, “Aaron, it’s called a Ukulele!”
I downloaded the EBird app after watching this. Now i'm hooked
Joe is the best guest. Great episode.
I love he sprang a game on the rest of you! Had me rolling!! 😂😂 Nate: "I like hearing them better then I see em and I'm like eh." 😂😂😂
Brian knew it was 5 years ago because his journal. He looks back a year, 5 years, 10 years...

We have chickens and if my husband forgets to feed them in the morning, he'll text me, " Can you feed the Dinosaurs for me?"😅
Brian, your “who?” When the owl got brought up should have definitely been recognized! You were on fire this episode!
I really don’t know who laughed the most this episode…the BAND, Joe Zimmerman or me! One of the funniest AND “funnest” episode yet!

“Audubon” vs “autobahn” had me yelling at the TV. I don’t know HOW the crew behind the camera keep from correcting them! Hilarious episode!

The George Washington poster in the background tho 😂😂😂

O. Em. Gee. LOVE LOVE LOVE the George Washington art on the set!!!!
I laughed so hard at this episode. Thanks for the good time, guys!
The way that Aaron announced shows in 2025 was so cool and creative. The only issue is he didn't include Charlotte, NC.
My husband used to be the president of our HOA. We had a problem with starlings in our new build neighborhood. Nightly they would flock by the thousands back to their old hood, now our new hood. I would love that! I’m not sure why but Kathleen Madigan is the only female standup I like.
I haven’t heard Kathleen I a few years, but she seems a bit cynical for the Nateland crew.
Love how crossville is getting a lot of love on this episode! Born and raised and I saw Aaron perform here opening for Henry Cho and looking forward to watching breakfast bates also perform here!
