The biggest factor is usually the capstan belt for W&F. This is not really a high spec machine to begin with. Around 0.2 percent RMS weighted is probably not too far out of spec anyway.

I agree. Its not a high spec machine but I'd like to get the best out of it as possible. Currently the w/f is just too high to use. I hate how on the 90's models the flywheel weighs nothing. I have some 70's and 80's units where the damn flywheel weighs more than the huge transformer, those decks have VERY little w/f.

Hi all, what I’ve been using is acetone and rub the rollers and belts and in most cases they recover elasticity and grip. Of course the best is to replace them. Athan are very special yet expensive rollers mainly used on expensive decks like Nakamichi. I don’t think it worth that much. Those from China aren’t bad stuff and a lot cheaper than Athans. Try out acetone first, if the belts are in pretty bad shape all stiff you may want to replace them. Good luck!

Check XrayTonyB"'s channel. He has some roller suppliers that he likes. Also, some "rubbery" substances can be swelled with liquid chemicals. The trick would be to identify the "rubber," so that you would know what chemical is needed. As an example, IIRC, silicone caulk can be swelled with acetone. HTH

Your main belt is bad or wrong size... pinch roller is just details in w/f. You need the right belt to get you under 0.1% first 👍

Try heating them in vegetable oil, they will return to their original shape and softness.
