I ran it a few times with FMJ and i guess i got lucky and 1 tapped 2 guys wear full gen4s. I got the clip on my yt channel. I love the gun though, I just have a hard time hitting long range shots compared to an m700 for example, not sure why.
Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t FMJ around 1,900 rubles a round from traders (can only buy 20 a restock) but ive stockpiled around 200 rounds so far of fmj

@@fairnut6418 Went back and did that math on this. At a rate of 30 RPM, as per the tarkov wiki, and at a cost of 35,000 per round, that comes out to 210,000 for 12 seconds of continuous fire.
30*35,000=1,050,000 rubles/min
12/60=0.2 minutes
1,050,00080.2=210,000
for 250k stock and lvl 4 jeager with 25 shturman kills, the gun better be a walking anti-tank cannon
its 160 k on flee market, no reason to buy it from jaeger :P
Just don't use it with an NCstar if you plan on sniping, you won't be able to use the scope for some reason.

first encounter with this gun was on an 8 raid streak with my SVD having already finished my punisher and basically just running around with the same kit till i died... Rockin altyn and hex, came around the corner in oli towards furniture in interchange and got just one blasted thru the hex with the AP round, insane

MK-18 + Vudu on Woods = an awesome FPS sniper experience you can't find anywhere else.
All im saying is i dont wanna run into any scavs with ap rounds loaded, that would be some expensive target practice.
Ha i died in a raid and my friend had to pass by new gas, he spent about 60k on bullets for scavs and you could hear his sould leave his body

Go into an offline raid with some green tracers 9x19 mp9 and just shoot stuff. Check out how the rounds deflect off surfaces

Oh I surely would. I just will never get my hands on it in the first place though, and if I somehow do I will feel very guilty about being extorted so much for singular pieces of ammo and probably just end up selling the cursed thing.

Camouflage. Hey Vox love the vids, here's something I've been wondering for a while. Is dressing up in perfect green camo worth it? Does green help in the woods and does black help in the dark (interchange)? Is the lighter the color the better? From afar does camoflage even matter?
It does. A lot. I personally too lazy to change clothes every time, bcs I'm usually running a 3 man. I wear black lynx and infil pants

What’s that spot on interchange looking over the entire front part of the mall?
Question on heavy bleeds and fragmentation chance. As some people say bullets with less then 20 pen cant fragment but on the wiki these bullets still have fragmentation chance. Does that mean if it frags it will instead of doing the 1.5 damage cause a heavy or light bleed? Could you possiably test this?

9:27 you might be wrong about that cuz lower pen higher flesh means that the bullet goes way slower if leaving the body (which this one truely will with any type) but probably not making to much damage on the next one anymore...

How much is the blunt dmg on tacx? Idk what the algorithm for blunt dmg is on insanely high flesh dmg rounds?

i got this gun on 2nd day of wipe and noticed that there was a suppressor for the the gun but it got removed later on within the week
Picked up 40 rounds of AP as a scav on reserve.
I was using a new GZHL, but at about 100 meters, the FMJ bullet was a single shot.

I've been running the mk18 and the price actually isn't to bad if you hit peacekeepers resets and grab fmj each time
I believe you can use the tarkov emulator to go into offline raids with people, not sure if that version updates anymore though, haven't used it since it was recommended to me
What about hitting a Ratnik helmet with the TAC-X, doesn't it still one-shot you due to blunt damage?
Yeah I hit a guy with a point blank ap on night factory and wondered why I got shredded but his chest stayed intact
This gun isn’t that expensive actually. Base is like 200k, and all you need is some ergo. Fmj is like 7 or 17 dollars from a trader and you don’t need to bring 300 of it like m855a1

Just wanted to say fmj at its current price is 13,111 and ap is over 30k so I would recommend fmj if you don't want to go broke.

You'll one shot the most common armours in the game, sure the ap will one tap everything but the fmj isn't a bad choice at all.

Great guide, but one small mistake i noticed: you said, that fmj is not that much cheaper on the flea, so you're better off using ap, since the price is comparable. Not false, but not true either. Yes, fmj is really expensive on the flea, but it's like 16$ from peacekeeper, which makes it about 10 times cheaper, then ap, so in my opinion fmj is worth using, since you're not wasting 25k a shot

The problem is not the Lapuas (top ammo) power , its the fact all other ammo types are pea shooters by comparison, even 308 or Soveit 7.62 by 54, thats apsurd.
Bullet soaking and lack of inertia/arcady movement in the end sucked the out of Tarkov for me, and ive been playing since day one open beta.

While yes most of the cheaper bullets taking so many hits is for balancing
this is .338. No armor in the game (say for killas helmet and other solid steel stuff) would be able to protect you from a .338

These game devs have put a absolute ton of thought into this game.
This game isn’t about balance
Too much thought most of the time.
Most systems in-game could be made in a MUCH easier fashion that wouldnt put nearly as much strain on the servers.
Just look at the guns, they're fully rendered, each round is actually simulated throughout it's life in the magazine, but none of that is needed considering there are what, 2-3 mags in the entire game that are actually see-through?
I dont mind the damage model so much, although the ammo spread is needlessly complicated if you're not using outside information.
@@rdowg the fully rendered guns as well as bullet ballistics is what makes this game special tho. The developers motto for this game is “as realistic as playable”. People don’t really realize what type of game the developers are trying to make. There are to many games like COD on the market

@@bm2618 but BSG, in the same breadth as saying "as realistic as playable" have made the MOST arcade-y shooting and movement mechanics while dumping all the "realism" into useless mechanics like the guns.
I'm not saying the way the guns are simulated isnt pretty fucking cool, because it is, but whenever BSG says anything about "realism", remember that they dont want to add inertia to movement or get rid of/overhaul the horrendous shooting mechanixa

Semi auto AR platform.
I much rather would've liked to see a bolt action. There are plenty of options and every single one of them is cool as hack, and for me it would've made much more sense with the release of woods.
Nkw we got a gun that got the broken status immediately, because it can fire semi auto and with more then 30 rounds per minute because atm the cycling is not animated.
In any case I think the gun is boring in its design, a AR platform for tacticool operators that hunt game with their buddy's... I mean look at the website the gun is sold...

i use the mk-18 for doing the 25 shturman kills, its absolute god with fmj, on woods most ppl run lvl4 or lower. i recommend combinig it with an smg, i love to take the vector 9mm with green tracer, its not that good ammo but looks fun to see the laser beams and makes me happy :,D

So that the existence of this gun is justified, because of the risk vs reward.
If you want to have the ability to onetap thorax, you have to deal with the risks.
Seems balanced enough to me, considering the refresh rate and the fact that there currently isn't any suppressor for it, so the whole map comes looking for you.
The issue imo is that some player can sit on millions upon millions of roubles, and price isn't a factor anymore.
However, the cheaper svd, fal, m1a etc can also make short work of anyone wielding the .338.
Maybe 2 thorax shots instead of 1, but suppressor available.
