Hello guys, I have designed and built a 100 mm ducted fan in this video and compared the thrust of two different motors. The ducted fan has a 96 mm diameter and is 3D Printed. I am using DYS Series motors of 1000 Kv and 1700 Kv.
I have designed a new blade for it.
Check the maximum thrust obtained and use these results for your future projects.
Check out the video to check the thrust test of the motor and make one for you.
Thanks for watching and liking, sharing, and subscribing.
    Helps me reach 20k subscribers...:-)

What about testing with the same rpm. To see efficiency of the blade. Not motor. 😂😂😂

Maybe you want to look into some nozzle designs that could increase the thrust?

This video would be better without the background music. Or, turn the background music down to 10% of what you have it at. Otherwise, it's really great content.

I want to make a robot that drives around my backyard patio and pool area and blows the leaves off like a Roomba each morning. So I need a powerful fan on the robot. Your tests are helping me think through the design.

if only there was a duct where both motors could fit inside of, so a drone could use the benefits of both motors, the torque and the high speed rotation in one duct :D

    • @MechNinja

Your question will be answered in my next video where I will use two propellers in one Duct.

700+ watts? How long will that motor last? Is there alot of heat in it after a 3 second pull?

I have not checked the motor lasting time....but yes after 30 sec of running it became hot.....

Man you don't even let the thrust to stabilize for a second, you should give this things at least 3 or 5 seconds on full power to take measurement, your intention is good but your method need to improve or your data will not be reliable.

      @MechNinja  11 месяцев назад

The point about a toroidal propellor is that it is effective as an alternative to fans that are in the wild, with an open tip. A duct already serves the purpose that the toroidal propellor was designed to fulfil, so a toroidal propellor in a duct is likely to be less effective than blades with a straight cut at the end

What about the effect of gravity considering your test rig

    • @MechNinja

I have calculated the ideal thrust while lifting the EDF to horizontal position...hence the effect of the gravity is considered here...if you have any doubt then you can ask me here....
