    Love it! Got the original, saw how small it was, returned it for the XL. It splits my ~7x16" firewood into smallwood and kindling in a flash. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxSRemO77LrM90rx_It_Wh6ZnKAS0H2A8t Good for debarking too. It's so fun I now have too much kindling and have to fight the urge to split the big pieces. I usually split dried cedar, but I've split dried oak too. The edge on mine has stayed razor sharp. I mounted it on a couple pieces of pressure treated 4x4 to hold it steady and quiet the ringing. Several reviews and videos show people having trouble keeping the wood straight. How do I put this gently?... You have to be smarter than the wood. Don't try to split knots, or badly curved grain. And hold the wood (with leather gloves) and tap it once to set it on the blade before giving it a good whack. And you have to know how to swing a hammer. If you don't know what wood grain or knots are, and you can't swing a hammer without hitting yourself or things around you, I suggest buying firewood and kindling pre-split. But if you're smarter than a log, this beautiful tool will make splitting firewood into kindling safer, faster and way more funner! I highly recommend it, and get the XL.

    I have one and bought the log catcher for it. What I do is put a tarp down under the splitter when I'm using it. Makes clean-up quicker and I put the larger shredded pieces in a bucket to use for kindling. The makers of this splitter stand by their product and have sent me replacement parts for no charge several times. I give it 5 stars

    Check every nut, bolt and fittings on everything you buy assembled by TSC. I have this splitter, wheelbarrows, 10x6 trailer, dump trailer for mower, etc. and ALL had loose nuts and bolts on them.
    I too had to search for my owners manuals and hydraulic plug/dipstick that is stores in the “secret” place they never tell anyone about.
    Good splitter if you maintain it.
    Mine is on it’s second season.

    Me and my dad have split no joke close to 36" if not 36" rounds with this thing (vertically). Still running strong but the steel that guides the splitter head down the track is bowing apart lol Have to heat it up and smash it back into place soon 😄

      I have a similar log splitter with the same design, channel rails, and the rail blew off and bent. The weld was poor with no penetration on the rail side of the weld. Could not straighten it 100% but good enough.

    If rounds are too big, split them the long way with the saw first. Easily to handle

    Save your back, do it vertical and roll the logs on to base... if splitting horizontal logs fall from that height can break bones in foot.... if you are not wearing steel toe boots.. I sit on a log or stool when doing vertical and it works faster.. I roll large logs near me, split To size I want,, then toss into tractor bucket which I position near, then when full I take to stack... used 22 ton older style for 4 years now... no issues.. I only use ethanol free with stabil mix. When done I shut off fuel and let run till motor quits.... great tool... only thing I'd wish is a 4 wing slip on for the smaller wood... split 4 times in one pass... and that the point of the axe would come a little closer to the base... and be a little wider to spread the wood apart a little more... had some tough 2' wide diameter logs , narley pieces , that wouldn't come apart all the way down.... 4 times got em though... also, don't have to run this full speed... I can run it about 50% almost all day on a tank of gas... great machine built tough and price is right...

      I have seen people like you said, stand it on end and sit down. I always want to stop and show them it is far easier to put it back to horizontal. Besides that don't let someone pull the handle unless they are also the one splitting the logs. But having cut firewood for the last 40 years I am telling anyone that will listen, stand on either side at the end of the splitter, say you operate the handle with your left hand and keep your right hand on top of the piece you are splitting in the middle of the piece, when the piece splits into, don't be afraid to get dirty and let the piece that is on your side rest against you leg or waist and pitch the piece that you cut where you want to load it later or throw it in your wagon or truck. I cut all mine to about 18" rounds, after you get use to what you are doing, I cut the first piece in half and let the other fall to the ground on the opposite side and then I take the other 9" half and make the next cut about 6" off the round and pitch it where ever, on wagon or ground. Then cut the piece that is left in half and you have 3 cut pieces about 6" each from that one and repeat the same cuts on the other half that I reach right over the splitter and pick up from the ground. Your can actually cut the whole pieces like that in whatever size you want without moving from your spot except to get another round and cut it in 2, 4, or whatever pieces. Once you get the idea of what you are doing, you would never stand the splitter up straight. Besides you are thinking now, how about if it's too heavy to pick up, if you are like me and cut your own trees, I would never cut one that I could not handle myself when cutting to size. If you have too, do as I do, I bend over grab the round that I am going to split and if its really heavy I have one hand on each end and when I raise it up I raise my knee up under the piece and use that to aid in placing the round on the splitter, practice and safety over time will make it a lot easier than you first think. But if you don't like my way, do it your way, every tub sits on its own bottom.

  • @charlesfredrick4789
    @charlesfredrick4789 4 года назад

    Stand behind the axle on the engine side, put the wheelbarrow on the other side, that way you can brace half the split round against your body allowing the other half to fall in the wheelbarrow. Then split the half you have, putting the pieces in the wheelbarrow. Retrieve the other half and repeat. I have an older one, and I noticed they switch the engine to the opposite side, but it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

    Would you be willing to list steps clearly and what each thing does. I know nothing. How much gas it holds etc. as well, thanks

    Works well, I bet if you put the specs into an online calculator it won't be 25 ton, my splitter is a beast and when I put in the specification it was 18.25 ton pressure.

    ,I think i want one ?

    • @holstonvalleyduke9882
      @holstonvalleyduke9882 5 лет назад

      Rob McDowell yes, but know this, if they don’t install it you can find it and your owners manuals in the plastic tube mounted on the side of the beam.
      Otherwise your hydraulic tank will have a plastic cap in it.
      CHECK EVERY NUT, BOLT AND FITTINGS on every item you buy ASSEMBLED BY TSC ASSOCIATES.
      I’ve bought trailers and this splitter and ALL had loose nuts here and there. My wheelbarrow too.

      Cool.
      Also; how is the paint holding up? Any chipping?
      And, is the tank and engine tucked away enough to avoid split wood from falling onto it.
      Thanks for your reply.

    I wish I had not bought my Countyline 25-ton splitter, but it's too late now and I guess I'm stuck with it. I HATE the design of the beam that the wedge slides on. My old splitter (a 40-year-old Yard Machine) had a beam with a simple flat surface, easy to wipe off and keep clean. The new Countyline has a (whatever you call it) groove that the wedge rides in -- a perfect trap to catch wood chips and splinters that needss constant cleaning (I finally had to set up my air compressor next to it so as to blow everything clean several times a work session.) Today I actually got a fat wood chip crammed in beside the wedge and had to get my pry bar to free it. Stupid stupid design.

      boblarson22 Well you can call it what ever you want too . Just doesn't make sense if your in the logging business ?A log is a log and a piece of firewood is a piece of fire wood, whole or split . I think city folks got this going by saying a log on the fireplace. But guess what you ain't gonna get a log in the fireplace just a chunk of plain old fire wood. Log splitter must sound more serious than wood splitter I suppose ha ha.
