I know you've made foam horns before, but it would be really cool to see some massive antlers. Also, thank you for not putting horns on this
I don't remember you having a small head. LOL
BTW I'm so glad you know that Viking helmets did not have horns on them.
Agree about the horns. The real Vikings (vikingar= ”people from bays”) did not have horns on their helmets. It’s made up by the stage versions of valkyria in operas in the 1800’s.
vikings never had horns, but adding them regardless would be pretty dope
12:19 Oooh! You just gave me an idea for the Eye Holes on my Megazord Helmet! Thanks Evil Ted! 😄
You'er welcome.
Thank you for this video. I have gone through three wasted modifications of your inquisitor pattern trying to turn it into a domed helmet like this. Can't wait to try this one out (and hopefully not waste even more foam).
Also I have to say your PDF patterns are getting better and better. All the detail and extras you put in there are fantastic.
No matter what I’m making I always end up wasting foam to get it right.
Hey Ted!! i did a viking helmet two months ago based on the game for honor using some of your youtube guides and even that it didn't got perfect i'm really glad of how it came out!! thank you very much, and soon i will try to make a new helmet with this tutorial of yours !!
I found a metal ball that is supposed to be on top of gate posts, they work really nice to form around, you can also (of cause) mount it on a square pole to make it stable.
Great idea.
I just started making a Viking style helmet just a couple days ago! Wish I could of had these templates when I started. Looks good as always!
Thank you for watching.
Lol Story time! 🤣
I started making this helmet and I was using white foam. I had connected all the peices and had not added the detail or paint yet. My Mom came into the room and started laughing saying it looked like an egg. I went to the bathroom, took one and said, "NANU! NANU!"🖖
🤣
#morkandmindy
Ha ha I know More & Mindy. I would watch it on TV when I was a kid.
@@EvilTedSmith 🤣🖖💞
Awesome! This would be an excellent base for a Rohan helmet as well!
You're awesome Ted! Thanks
Thank you for subscribing.
I'm looking forward to trying this!
It reminds me of the Gjermundbu helmet.
Sweet now i can work on my viking Assassin.
Question: what did you use to hang the back plate and cheek plates?
Perfect we just started a viking campaign now i have something to go with my sword
Thanks for your support.
Excited you're coming to Emerald City! Hoping to bump into you in my very first foam armor set (based off some patterns in your store!) :)
I look forward to meeting you.
Hi Ted thank you So much for making greet content !.
Thank you for subscribing.
Love that helmet Ted!!
Thanks for subscribing.
I am going to use this pattern to make an ice warriors helmet, from Doctor Who! As well as the shoulder pads and male chest pattern!
Nice!
Yay! An alternative to latex!
Yes there is a material called creature cast it is a non-latex.
This is Mount and Blade 2 Menu-Screen.
Looks almost like a Rohirrim helmet :D
good job! thanks so much!
Thank you for watching and subscribing.
Do you think you can make a video on how you would make the Aquaman suit
Hey there! Just purchased the pattern and excited to get started. Quick question on resizing for different head sizes, any best practices for scaling up or down or any measurements you can provide to make this easier? Thanks for making this available for purchase :D
Yes, taking the pattern to the copy store to have it made smaller or bigger.
These are great videos
Thank you for watching in subscribing.
Evil Ted Smith my pleasure man.
This helmet doesn't need horns, it needs a sheet of maille hanging off the back to the sides like the real helmets would.
Hi. I'm Akkia and I am making 3 of these helmets for a show/play that I will be performing in at a theatre I go to, but unfortunately I have a very limited budget and so I was wondering if there is a much much MUCH cheaper substitute for creature cast? Everything else, I already have but I can't afford the creature cast.
Yes they many ways to seal foam. Check out this video..ruclips.net/video/ug6Rs06FEpk/видео.html
This is exactly what I need for my Celtic Lapras cosplay, though I will have to modify it to add the horn and ears. Any chance of making a tutorial for leg armor?
EDIT: I just purchased the pattern. Time to get building.
You could modify it to be a guard helmet from Skyrim
That's what I'm going to try to do.
Vikings never put horns on their helms. They were actually developed from Roman helmets.
Es en serio no puedes compartir tu PDF que tristeza. 😭😭😭😭
On one video, I think it was recent you said that you generally don't like silver permanent markers, except for one specific kind, what was that kind and what issues do you normally have that those don't?
The sliver maker is from TNT cosplay supply. You get one when you order foam.
Hi Ted, i just bought your pattern. Is there an easy way to change the pattern to my head size?
Yes you could it bigger when printing.
Evil Ted Vikings didn't have horned helmets and there were multiple types aswell
Thank you for the info.
Ted, when you're designing things how do you decide on which thickness of foam to use?
It really depends on what you’re making. I learned it mostly from trial and error.
Hey, Ted. Do you think adding horns would unbalance the helm?
Foam horns, not at all.
Is it possible to do the dome of the helmet with 5mm foam ? ( 6kg density )
Thank you for your time !
Yes you can.
@@EvilTedSmith Thank you !
Hey Ted, I've always wanted to get that thing you store the contact cement, the one that has a brush in it, I've gone to home depot and I can't find it, the section where they have brushes and the contact cement, I always ask the clerk there but they never know what Im taking about, I have no idea what's it called or where to get it. Reason is everytime I use contact cement, I have to use the can it comes in and it's just a pain to open it everytime and it dries up over time even when it closed.
This thing you use does it conserve the contact cement fresh to use everytime when the brush is inside?
Thank you.
It’s called a gluepot, I have a link for just below the video.
Thank you, I really appreciate it. Keep up the amazing work
Hey Ted, when you're doing multiple layers of Creature Cast how long do you wait inbetween? I was just testing some out tonight for the first time and I waited about an hour and a half until I did the second coat, but it seems to be beading on top (I applied with a brush). I'm guessing I should be waiting longer?
Yeah, that happened to me as well. So I brush the second coat in about 20 to 30 mins. I need to work more with it to figure best ways to use it.
Their website says to lay down the first layer as it comes from the bottle and then to thicken it for the next layers. I'm going to try that next.
What if I wanna add some horns ????
You can! I have plenty of horn patterns in my shop.
What glue is used for the foam ?
I have my complete build list just below the video.
how bad are brush strokes with creature cast?
Not bad at all.
I just got some patterns and having issues with them lining up. After cutting out the top helmet sections I noticed they don’t line up. The 2 patterns are off. Is this suppose to be like that?
I’m thinking the 10mm is too big?
You have to force them to line up. They won't just fall in place. You can also use thinner foam.
this'll be perfect for next season when my Vikes win Super Bowl 53
is there other item i can use beside Creature cast?
Yes there is...ruclips.net/video/ug6Rs06FEpk/видео.html
Thank EvilTed
How many coats of Creature Cast, Ted?
Just two.
I'm guessing that the Creature Cast works to seal the foam as well as give it some extra rigidity, is this correct? Also, can you paint directly over the Creature Cast or would you recommend using a coat of primer first?
I don't have PayPal
Do you have a link i can download the pattern from and I don't own a computer now would i print it out
Here you go. eviltedsmith.com/shop/viking-helmet-pattern/
@@EvilTedSmith thanks . do you send the pattern in the post or do I print it out as i don't own a computer?
Sorry, I do not sell prints. Ask a friend with a computer and a printer to print them for you.
@@EvilTedSmith what size should i get it printed? to get accurate for my head?
No horns... wings.
I don't know why you have dislikes ..
Haters are going to hate.
im swedish and my ancestors were the vikings.......Dont insult my ancestors by putting those stupid horns on their helmets! THEY DID NOT WEAR HORNS!!! HORNS WERE USED TO DRINK FROM OR USED AS BATTLE HORNS FOR SIGNALING NOT WEARING!
Turn off your auto focus
who said that viking helmets had no horns, that's not true. Even greek helmets had horns and shardana helmets people of the sea and saxons even romans, mongols and samurai. Lots of them had horns. Dont believe everything they tell you.
