Despite being a very wet morning, the event improved over the day with some awesome cars making it out and setting track lap records. As for the Camaro?
5 laps into the morning, and the car suddenly stopped responding; the car won't crank. After the event I get it home with the help of a new buddy, and I figure out the problem and fix it.
There is a little bit of event coverage, when I wasn't under the dash/engine bay problem solving. lol

Have you guys been stranded by VATS?

Yeah wasn't bad at all, and when it was wet and sloppy it was extra fun 😅
My security light used to come on at random times and if you jiggled the key it went away. did that for years. try taking the key off the keyring so there's no weight on it while cornering and see if that helps.
Yeah for some people you can get by for quite a while with methods like you're describing.
My situation was a major fault in the system. The connection to the key cylinder was completely broken. I ended up bypassing it entirely with a resistor
My security light stays on
Better get the ignition cylinder lock replaced. One day you'll be stranded.
I believe that's the "fault enable mode" of VATS. It allows the car to be started because it sensed a good reading from the last time the car was driven. So it assumes it isn't being stolen or tampered with. There may some kind of issue in your VATS that may leave you stranded at some point.
@@DadModsMedia the chip isn't reading the resistance, or something along those lines. One one Firebird i replaced the ignition cylinder lock and got a new key matched, and on my 1999 TA I had the VATS programmed out of the pcm. Good luck.
