Thank you for your channel! Very detailed explanation, I really like to watch your videos and learn from them, because I have no school in the city of table tennis, I have to learn from the video!
A truly very informative and easy to understand video! I love this! Will be using this as one of my serves. Really deceptive! Thanks Caoach Sherwin! More power! Mabuhay!
@@cafephin2024 short answer: yes. I knew hook serve before taking Gerell's masterclass but my serve wasn't really deceptive. His masterclass really brings my serve to a whole new level. My opponents often call me "nasty server" since I got the hook serve under my belt 🏓🏓🏓It's extremely effective.
Fair response... I should have clarified that I have seen him do it live in events standing directly behind his opponent and ball was not hidden. I dont know him personally so I believe I was objective.
Hi Sherwin, great video. I have lots of serves similar to this one but for some reason having been using them for a while I still can't use subtle deception without exaggerating my movement. Any advice on how I can improve this
You should loop chops with your forehand. All professional players use the forehand against choppers.Only Schlager and Kreanga looped against choppers with the backhand.
Can you pls make the video about the following: they teach us underspin pendulum serve by having racket flat BUT when you see Chinese players UNDERSPIN serve replay- they racket is pointed DOWN on contact. Can you explain that please!
I think that's legal, even when you put black and red, your opponent don't have idea what kind of rubber that u used right? As long as u not put pimples rubber on it. For sure u can see at www.ittf.com/handbook/
Excellent way of detailing your options for this serve. Thanks.

Good variation in the serve. Thanks for explaining
What Sherwin descibed is Pär Gerell's service (usually with a high toss). Now I understand why it is one of the most difficult among pro-players
It is. 🏓
Gerell's service is a little bit different, though. I learn the hook serve from Par Gerell's masterclass.
@@mintran do you find it's worth to pay for that hook serve masterclass Min? (As this video tutorial is quite good for my level)

I like the instruction in your video. Do you also have video for serves during Doubles games?
Thanks, very useful. I think this is the most complicated serving style

1:37 and 2:49 are hidden serves, maybe its just camera angle. But good tips anyway.
Gr8 video. Wil try it out.
How to return such serve?
Wouldn't a long serve with a high arch like this get an open attack by the good opponent straight away? 😛
Off course good player win attack that but if can manage to short then its difficult.
I would have gone for a back hand flick
Nice
That's your fiend's,Gavin, favourite serve :)
Amazing keep working
Thanks
Video quality, content improved.
Is it legal to have the same colored rubber?
I think that's legal, even when you put black and red, your opponent don't have idea what kind of rubber that u used right? As long as u not put pimples rubber on it. For sure u can see at www.ittf.com/handbook/
It's illegal. And players have the right to inspect each other's racket before the match.
