This series of "windows" into the world of NYCB is extremely well done bringing an accessible and human side to all of those superb artists who often appear as from another world
Fun fact! Their way of saying good luck “merde” mean “shit” in French! It’s an old way for French to say good luck, and you should never answer “thank you”
I have loved watching this series and I don't want it to be over! I would love to see someone make a full series with full length episodes about the New York City Ballet and it's amazing dancers!
Performing on stage makes me nervous, makes my heart pounding and butterflies fluttering around in my stomach but sometimes I will have to toughen up because there is no turning back, my high school principal told me I can sing, dance and perform.

Naiya McHargue Chase was in a relationship with one dancer. He secretly took photos and videos of her during sex and shared them with friends and even donors and people outside the company. Plus they were exchanging disgusting test messages, like how they would like to tie up girls and rape them.
Fawn Woods Unfortunately, NYCB has a long tradition of abusing female dancers physically and mentally... look up Gelsey Kirkland. Balanchine himself encouraged her to starve and destroy herself, she was performing on cocaine many times to be able to dance
I have been watching I love what your show is tell a good story and I have want to do the same thing all my but could not do it. I took ballet or at least 15 years and still couldn't do what you guys do and keep it up
yay at 6:02 I liked the bits of that piece its classic balanchine inspired and its also a fun piece but still requires hard work, and has nice neat costuming that while not super puffy fancy still looked like dress clothing and refined, and like the black pointes as I guy its like a little black dress for the feet on one hand but also like dress shoes on another, its a bit of a juxposition to me.
++Abril Green I googled 'merde' and there's also a story that way back during ballets they used animals on stage and the audience would yell, "merde!' so the dancers wouldn't step in it....but I think YOUR story makes MUCH more sense...
@@lucygirl4926 No - it's meaning is derived from times before motorized vehicles. Carriages drawn by horses would drop audience members off at the theatre, then wait for the performance to finish. If the ballet was a popular one, there would be many horses outside. Horses shit, so the more horses, the more shit. That's why you want as much shit as possible; it symbolizes having a larges audience.
NYCB ballets are only 20 minutes long?! That's really short. Classical pieces danced by more traditional companies like the russians aren't like two hours long?
+Shoopdelaang NYCB does everything from Swan Lake to more contemporary stuff by folks like Peter Martins, Alexei Ratmansky, etc. Yes, the classical ballets are long, but contemporary ballets can be any length.
I love Troy Schumacher, Teresa Reichlen, Amar Ramasar, Maria Kowroski, Georgina Pazcoguin, Sara Mearns, Andrew Veyette, Kathleen Tracey, Lauren Lovette, Craig Hall, Unity Phelan, Mary Elizabeth Sell, and Chase Finlay.
A Season 3 would be THE BEST!!!! It looks as though many agree with me!
I NEED A 3RD SEASON !!!!!
I hope they make a season 3!!!
yolanda s.h. I
WE WANT SEASON 3 WE WANT SEASON 3
I love how they basically run around telling each other 'sh*t' before performing. I guess it's accurate though, the feeling before it happens.

3:30 and not one of these dancers knew why they were saying, 'merde'???? Curious...
Nooooooo it's overrrrr
Do we have to talk through the entire performance?
Craig Hall should consider a post-ballet career as an actor.
Sara is real AF. I deeply identify with what she said 1:55-2:15.
you kow the goodluck meired thing means shit in french
++Abril Green thanks for that info!

It's also ballet slang for whatever happens, happens and just enjoy the performance.

They can do a collection of short pieces.

Please Not
man o man, these women look soooo old, esp that maria lady. don't you have any younger ballerina's. so old it's distracting. thumbs down
Sandra D They are so old it’s distracting? Really?? Grow up
So embarassing how sjp says ballet...she ruined the voice over
