It was very wrong what the male did. When I was in Ballet the girls passed me around like a beach ball. I'm not going to sit here and say "I didn't like it." This happens to straight males in dance but of course it is strictly forbidden for heterosexual males to say this.
This is so so so SOOO important. This broke my heart because the place of her dreams became her worst nightmare but it's also really important because she shows how she got back up and spoke up for herself, her coworkers, and women everywhere about how all systems in the world need to change for the protection and human rights of every person.
As a straight male who danced ballet you are always heavily outnumbered by beautiful girls and so you obviously have to be very conscientious about extracurricular activities with the girls. You cannot forget she is a lady. Given the discipline the art instills in Cavaliers I am very surprised and also very disappointed a male dancer would act this way.
Thank you for highlighting this issue. Female dancers work incredibly hard, have done so since childhood and are always told how easy it is to be replaced. It's long past time that dancers in general receive more respect. To have male dancers treating female dancers this way is a gross violation of these women in every possible way. To know that men affiliated with the company, at the Board level and others such as the Artistic Director, engaged in this as well is shocking. Isn't it time that all men receive better education? This toxic male culture has to end. These men know better, they just prefer behaving like jerks. And yes that word "jerk" is a very sanitized version of what these men are. Real men don't behave this way. And yes, Alexandra's correct: this is hatred.
Yeah because straight men only get into dance in order to hit on women and have an excuse to touch them when they're dancing. Haven't you seen those straight guys who take dance classes hoping to meet hot girls? They are creepy AF
Read Gelsey Kirkland's book Dancing On My Grave. It gives you can insight not only on her personally demons, but on the ballet culture. She had relationships with several prominent male dancers and it talks about a negative undercurrent within the company back then!
The fact that Chase was verbally abusive and drunk on a regular basis SHOULD have been a clue to Alexandra......but alot of women/people ignore things that happen in relationships and brush certain actions over of their lovers/friends. There seems to be a continuous undercurrent of abusive behavior in the NYCB particularly, going back from Gelsey Kirkland's book Dancing On My Grave when she danced in the 70s. I pray that it finally stops! I also pray Alexandra dances again-somewhere else of course!
yes..its time for these women to take the responsibility and say enough. not after 3 yrs or 1 ur or even 3 months. immediately get the f out or its on you.
She clearly said that it was her first relationship, and a psychologically abusive one. She probably didn't realise that it was abnormal behaviour until the trigger. Most people don't realise it from inside these emotional cages they are live in until something really bad happens, or they get help from the outside. She clearly couldn't get help from the colleagues who were also abused the situation...
Time for the women to take responsibility? Really? How about the perpetrators, the men? They need to take responsibility for their perverted and clandestine actions. Chase Finlay fled after getting busted and has never danced again. What he did to her was completely illegal. He should have been arrested and done prison time. He got lucky. He's a little rich boy.
Was reading Akiyoshi Rikako's Giselle novel about ballet when a notification about the ballet from the vice appeared. ps. I haven't (done) read it yet, but so far it's the coolest Akiyoshi novel I've ever read.
Do some research, her guilt or innocence is at best inconclusive, due in part to a massive mishandling of the case and evidence by Italian law enforcement. In fact they paid her a settlement recently to that effect. The media also royally fucked her and assumed her guilt.
I followed that Amanda Knox case very closely there was a lot of compelling evidence that she was guilty. I forgot she got acquitted. Weird that vice hires her as a interviewer lol
No all the evidence was circumstantial evidence and NOT forensic evidence. They thought it was impossible she wouldn't hear someone be murdered in the house, they thought she wasn't behaving in the "correct" way after the murder and stuff like that. I highly suggest you watch Stephanie Harlowe's video on Amanda Knox. She goes into great detail about everything. It's very interesting. I do believe Amanda is innocent and I believe one of the other four room mates is the real guilty one.
@@WhitneyDahlin idk about that one. Her being innocent is also circumstantial lol. Theres no real reason to believe she didn't really do it. And her behavior was really weird that's for sure.
@@WhitneyDahlin Ohhhhhhhhhh!! THAT'S who she is! She thinks EVERYONE knows who she is?😂 You saved me a trip to google, where I, legit, would've had to read a lot of article to remember who she is!! Thanks!✌
If this goes on with the women i dread to think about the kids. How can they have kids going to a place where the donors are doing this. At the end of the day those men wernt Ballerinas. They have no class.
"...and sharing them with multiple people..." Hmmm. Don't you mean "multiple men..."? Call a spade a spade. This was a shocking and insane incident(s), and went on for quite a while. Alexa is a brave woman. Chase Finlay was destroyed. Not just due to this, but mostly. He quit NYCB before he could be fired. He had a serious injury which didn't heal well and was taking opioids to manage the pain. Which caused problems with his dancing. Actually his whole damn life.
Amanda Knox?????? The one who pointed the finger, told authorities the black bar owner killed that lady?? The bar owner who rightfully denied it even though he spent time in prison? Amanda who didn't apologize? Amanda who was cartwheeling outside the home just as police were investigating the scene of a gruesome murder of her roommate? The psycho? You employed her??? Ugh.
Ballet is so competitive and the ratio of boy to girl dancers is like 1 to 30 so it's especially competitive for girls, that's why her company treated the boys leniently and treated her like she's replaceable. Choosing to go to trial basically meant she'll never dance professionally because no one will ever hire her again. That's what's so sad/brave. She had a whole career she got into the conservatory at only 15, that means she's a really really talented dancer and that she probably dedicated her entire life to dance before this happened.
If they don’t kick all the punks right out it will never stop. ACLU would be well advised to take this on. Someone needs to bring this to their attention. L2@OSUlaw
Sounds to me that Chase was in a sexual relationship with those guys as well and therefore some were jealous of her. It’s obvious when you read the messages “I love you!!! Keep our relationship between me us…”
Here a little late, but I saw those messages in the video and I thought they were the mixed in messages he had with her, coaxing her into sending the pics. But you have a good point too now that I think about it.
Why sue the company when her boyfriend sent her pics to his friends who happened to be in the same company?? Isnt it twisted to sue the company giving this dialogue that they harbor a fraternity...
Well it's like if an employee reports sexual harassment/misconduct (which is what this is at the very least) by other employees to her company and the company does nothing; in fact they dismiss it as a "personal matter". The company, then, is liable for not stepping in, and allowing it to happen.
It's not like it was some conspiracy. Way to be mad at your boyfriend and use it as a reason to get rich. If her boyfriend worked at a construction company and showed all his friends and co workers she wouldn't have made it public. Guaranteed
Jarret Jordan Um this is sexual assault that the NYC Ballet and School of American Ballet refused to fire the perpetrator over. I don’t think she’s trying to get rich
I just saw her yt video here , her and her friends are just dancing in public and I saw a comment saying they recognize her and I immediately search up about ballerina explicit imagine scandal and I got here
“I don’t need the legal system to say that what happened to me was wrong” wow!
So right! I agree completely!!
We need more vids like this. Something that puts light on the 'behind-the-scene' of seemingly sophisticated and safe places
