It was extremely helpful to see a side-by-side example like the one shown at 35:20 to reinforce the relationship between subject magnification, image count, and differential. Perfect - thank you!
is it too late to ask a question. Sorry I was working when the LIVE talk was streamed. Thank you for going over Focus Stacking/Bracketing Tomas. I am completely new to the world of stacking/bracketing images. I understand the theory behind it and have marvelled at the images produced by it and have at last managed to save up and buy myself some kit that can help (ie bracket and stack rather than just do it all manually). My question is, and wait for it it will be a stupid one, but I have to ask.......exactly what file size would a stacked/bracketed image be? I need to brace myself for buying extra storage. Does the image become compressed or is it literally so many images x the size of format you are working with. Ok apologies for asking such a question.
Hi - Thanks for checking in on the LIVE. The stacked JPEG (Always a compressed JPEG for final stacked shots) will be around 25% bigger in data than a usual JPEG of that subject. Bracketed shots are individual and the same file size as normal. :) - David
Thanks for this wonderful and educational video, Thomas. I have one question about the gear you showed in your video about flashlight. I could see you use a novaflex castle q but what is put on top of it. I refer to the part that is moving the camera in vertical position. is it also nova flex, cause I couldn't find it on there website. Hope you can find th time to answer my question. greetings Martin
Would also be nice if each set of stacks / brackets had a file name series that identified all images in a set. It gets hard to sort when you have many sets .
Explanation of focus stacking using strobe (42:28/1:12:02), It's very useful and easy to understand. thank you. It is also useful to use only one strobe during focus stacking, but As you know, it is also useful to use multiple strobes at the same time. focus stacking, using multiple strobes at the same time, Front light, back light, side light etc. You can enjoy various useful writing. . I used multiple strobes for Focus Stacking of EM1MK2, It was very convenient to perform high-speed continuous flashing. However, after replacing with OM1MK2 Strobe lighting made with EM1MK2, I couldn't do it anymore, I'm in a lot of trouble. I would appreciate any advice etc. Details are below. Thank you for your support. The EM1MK2's strobe light during focus stacking was a high-speed continuous light of about 10 shots per second, which was very convenient. However, the OM1MK2's strobe light during focus stacking is a slow intermittent light of about 1 shot per second, which is very inconvenient. The focus stacking conditions for the EM1MK2 and OM1MK2 are, for example, "15 shots, focus step 2.0 seconds charging time," the commander is "Godox Xpro-o (light output 1/128 manual)," and several slave strobes are "Godox TT350-o, V850ⅲ-o, TT600, etc.", which were wirelessly fired continuously at high speed during focus stacking. I have experimented many times, and when I set a strobe and other equipment on the EM1MK2 and take focus stacking shots under the above shooting conditions, it fires continuously at a high speed of about 10 shots per second. However, when I set this on the OM1MK2 and take focus stacking shots, it fires intermittently at a slow speed of about 1 shot per second, which is very inconvenient. As a test, I removed the commander (Xpro-o) attached to the OM1MK2's hot shoe, attached a TT350-o or V850ⅲ-o (Li-ion) and took focus stacking shots in manual mode with a light output of 1/128, and with the above settings it fired continuously at a high speed of about 10 frames per second. Based on these results, I do not think the strobe is the cause of the problem. I would appreciate any advice on focus stacking with strobe firing on the OM1MK2. Thank you in advance.
You can but you have to use an extension tube so the rear end does not protude into the camera body. I have not tried this yet and not all extensions have a hole big enoughto accept the MC20. I have heard the JJC extension tube works but cant confirm. Just google this as it has been discussed a number of times
Great video Tomas! These are two features that I always don't get how to use them, and now I have all much clear!

Thank you, Tomas. What a useful masterclass. I have finally understood how to set the "Set focus differential", a very clear explanation. Bravo ¡¡
Excellent presentation a very useful hour. Thank you

Thank you for your feedback.
And if camera will everytime create folder for each set of stacks like it does on Sony A7RV

Hello from Denver, USA
when do you use stacking versus bracketing?

@@marklaurendet1861 -Thanks so much Mark.
WHAT IS ABOUT USING THE STF-8 FOR MACRO AS IT IS DESIGNED FOR THE PURPOSE?
Hi Rolf - Yes the STF-8 is a great option for lightweight flash and worlks great with focus bracketing and stacking if needed. :) - David
