I could make a scientific claim that athletes with the insoles jumped higher then athletes without. That would technically be true but would be a poor study. Because they do provide energy return. You will notice that the typical races that these shoes have a notable impact is in long distance running. This is because energy return returns a small portion of energy for every stride meaning that over the course of a long race you exert less energy than you would normally by amounts like 2-4%. They do not magically increase how explosive your muscles are. If you replaced the carbon fibre plate with some hypothetical material that were 100% energy returning springs and you jumped on them would you jump twice as high? The answer is no, because to jump twice as high the springs would have created and given you energy which breaks the laws of physics. What would happen is the energy you use to jump would be completely returned to your muscles and joints, which is a good thing if you want to continue jumping but not great if you’re looking to do single explosive movements like a high jump.
The carbon plate in the midsole of racing shoes with super foams help compressing the highly resilient foams more evenly, thus elongating the foam's lifetime, providing a slightly more stable platform and making the foam work more efficiently
Not if the carbon fibre is right beneath your foot like this insole does… The whole point of non-corrective insoles is literally to provide comfort, that’s why they’re typically soft, flexible and conforming to the shape of your foot.
