I arrived in DE in October 2021, lived and attended a sparchschule. Bremen was a nightmare for me, I was extremely lonely. I returned to SA to visit family and came back end of February...I wanted to give up, but my little 12yr old son gave me the advice I always give him " complete your mission, never give up"...wise little boy! I arrived in Hamburg to start a new life and the moment I arrived in Hamburg, I felt the connection. So far, I love Hamburg ❤️. No friends yet, but I'm sure this will change soon! I wish everyone who has just arrived in Germany a beautiful stay...keep your eyes wide open and Sindy is absolutely correct when she says that when you find a german friend, it's forever!
Hamburg is the best city and very international you can find tons of nationalities.Love it here. What a blessing your son is. wish all the best with your life here. 😊
Sindy I understand the situation that you facing there because its a different country and different rules so just make sure you are ok and as long your husband loves you that's all you need and just stay positive 👍❤️❤️❤️
TRUE TRUE.Major adjustments required, girl if it wasn't for this man I WOULD have left haha , real talk. I am always optimistic and positive all the time x
Making friends in Germany can be difficult, but with the right understanding of the culture and people, it's possible. Cindy's video is a great resource for those looking to settle in Germany.

@@sindypetronella it’s better to be chill than full of anxiety . Maybe that’s the effect of Germany. I’m in the states and thinking of moving there as an African-American woman.
This is not just a problem only in Germany. This is a problem in many countries. I am also a person open to new friendship , but having lived in Sweden in the '80s-'90s and in Italy in the '90s. I only knew Poles. Italians are not as open as people think. I have friends in other countries and they also have the same problem. People work more and more and do not have time to cultivate relationships. Then a lot of people have mental problems. In Poland, every fourth Pole has them, and the Pandemic has shown us that there are many more of them. When people do not feel well mentally, they have no initiative and are closed to new people.
Ahhhhh interesting to know your views and perceptive with your own lived experiences. I agree with you with so MUCH focus with work work and not so much with relationships like here. In South Africa we love to live with each other not so much individualism compared to here. People end up having burn outs because of over working themselves UNFORTUNATELY.
How to make Friends in Germany: 1. Understand that Germans take friendship VERY seriously. That isn't a topic to be taken lightly here. 2. Connect through HOBBIES, and the same interests, like musik, sports, cooking, knitting (Vereine!) Always follow, were the germans disapear to... :-) 3. Ehrenämter: Connect with other people who want to commit oneself to the same cause, like saving animals, human rights, soup kitchens, etc. 4. Local independent churches. They are often very family like and warm hearted and welcoming to strangers. 5. Try going to pubs with germans. When drinking beer, germans loosen up. I personally as a german don't like alcohol, but at least go to the pub and drink something else!
Lol thanks for sharing this! The Germans here in Hamburg are very polite. It’s the first country I’ve lived in that strangers mostly ladies always say hello to me first on the street and my mouth dropped open 😂😂😂🤣. I had to look at myself and ask is it me or someone else. Also they’re very helpful and patient while I’m murdering their language. I heard it’s totally different compared to other cities. So far I happy with Hamburg.
In my opinion it ist very dificult for foreigners to find friends here. The people here are more focused in work and are very racional. They are more individualistic and therefore they do not really enjoy the company of other people or enjoy small things like food etc. They do often only care about themselves and only want to recieve help from gevernment and institutes. So it is dificult in the day to day life. In general you can find some social partners in for ex. sport clubs or at work but it all keeps staying very on the surface
Lol when it comes to South Africans it's easier for one to make friends once there's a bit of connection the friendship starts but it's not easy to find a genuine friendship yooo i personally love friendships it's a great feeling to have friends imagine life without friendship i wouldn't find it easier..Thank you for sharing this ,
