As a static you'd surely buy a Corgi or similar and spend a fraction of the price! The money this cost, 100% should not have issues, very disappointing!
Thank you Wayne for your detailed experience with the Spitfire build. I will engineer my plane for a static stand too and enjoy my end product of the build. I am still a big fan of yours here in Australia, keep on building kits to give us the fans of your channel happiness that you show in your videos.
Wayne, great to see the conclusion here. We as customers spend an ungodly amount of money for these builds and we should get two basic things; a quality fit for purpose model AND great customer feedback/updates. Besides these Spifire issues, I’m particularly frustrated with partswork builds. I’m still waiting for a replacement Plinth base from Agora for Cobra as first one was broken, that’s been like 4 months. For Eaglemoss Ecto 1, waiting over 6 months for next build. I get COVID, but cmon, let’s try to get back to normal.
Yeah I'm in the same place as you begin waiting two months for issue 19 got told it was on back order and all together I'm 7 months behind on the build 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼or didn't have all these issues with the back to the future build that's why I thought I would do this build 😁😁😁😁
Well done. The main thing is it's for your dad and I'm sure he will love it, and that's the most important thing of course. So it was worth it for you.
Thank you for being so honest about your build. I’m signed up for Ecto-1 ( waiting months for parts) and frankly, after seeing how noisy the roof beacons are and how bland the interior detail is, I’m debating on continuing that one. We can always trust what you tell us, and that is why you are my go to channel for they builds!! I’m sure your dad will love this model and it will no doubt bring back memories to him! All the best to you and your father
"Everything will gonna work fine" - famous. last. words. :) anyway from the thumbnail and the title I was expecting spitfire on fire. You should have keep the playlist, even "failed" build is a learning experience :)
Well it’s disappointing that after all your best efforts the Spitfire electrics and circuit boards let you down. Thank you Wayne for posting this video & I am sure your dad will love having that now static model to admire. It’s always gutting when all the time and effort that you have invested in a model doesn’t turn out the way it’s supposed to do.
I'm convinced that hachette must of known about the problems as they built a prototype for the first ever advert. All they seemed to be interested is getting your money. Personally I had one part that had to be replaced which I had no trouble getting from them( within 2 weeks) and I must of been one of the lucky ones as I had no issue with fit, or colour mismatch bar the pilot hatch not being correct colour inside. Just waiting for the power mod now.
Glad to see other people have issues with models, I built two large scale Japanese locomotives the 50 and 51 and the build went well from start to finish however on both of those within minutes of completion the drive trains locked up. All down to one very small screw that spins easily off a small cam. Purely a design fault so I have two static models with neither able to turn their wheels.
It's alright. Shit happens at times so, we know how you feel. All it matters is that you completed the plane and it's one deed done. So, excellent work there, Mr. Wayne. You have done what you could and you done your best. 👍👏
Well done buddy. Followed you all the way on this. I just finished mine now but i have gad no intention of using the board, going to be suspended from the ceiling
So sorry to hear how its finished, you was going so well at the start and I was looking forward to see it working. With China going through another series of lockdowns I think we will need a lot of patience waiting for the next part when making these kits. In 18 Days you can have a rest for a few weeks.
It's such a shame what has happened. Fingers crossed mine is working ok but I have tested it to the extreme and everything works. Completely understand about removing the videos. I hope your father enjoys the model as it is and good health to you and your family
Wayne, you summed that up perfectly. It’s exactly my thoughts. The model is really lovely. The electrics and base are horrible. I’ve fixed the gaps and am so pleased with that. I had to glue with araldite the sides as the tail was so heavy and was leaving a gap at bottom of sides and wing root The front dropped so I have glued the two engine struts to firewall and then the firewall to the mount over the gearbox as the back of firewall should be flush to that mount and that removed the gap forward of the cockpit There is a bigger issue one guy Alex found and that’s the brass screw falls out in the lifters. If you check how this is built there is an issue there right enough. What can happen and has happened to Alex resulting in his plane crashing onto the deck breaking the plane and more importantly the propellor. So the Perspex rods sit on a plastic bottom and this sits on the screwed rod, held in place by the brass nut. As the plane is heavy the plastic departs from the brass nut, leaving the nut at the top of the screwed rod and the whole perspective rod falls to the bottom crashing the plane.
Good effort Wayne, I feel your pain when something just does not work as it should and have had to make do with what you have, it does look like a fantastic static model. I bet it was a good feeling smashing the stand 🤣
Hi wayne sorry to hear about the outcome of your spitfire ive watched you from the start and followed every single step im on issue 95 ive not tested it yet as im waiting for the partwork upgrades power mains to come plus im going to follow johns idea of chopping down the base.
I had multiple problems with the Bismark build. Ive sent back no fewer than 12 parts that arrived broken. I even had 2 issues with the completely wrong parts with them.I am now having the same problems you have with the Spitfire. I'm afraid I've had enough of Hachette and wont be purchasing anything from them in future.
Considering the ultimate cost of this model you would have expected to end up with a fully working Spitfire, you might as well have built a 1/32 construction kit which would have cost so much less. Its outrageous that the company that released this model didn't design it to a better design before taking peoples money
You should buy the new Airfix 1/24 Sptifire for a fraction of the price and give it to your dad. I think it isn't much more than £100 and full interior detail. It was supposed to be released this summer I believe.
You would of thought hachette would have built a fully working model too see if there is going to be any problems in the build, electrical especially to iron them out before release to the public.
Wondering why the prop is in the feathered position? Was that a flaw in the model? Just looked to be sure, and as is the case with most piston single-engine airplanes, there was no way to feather the actual Spitfire prop. Certain single-engine turboprop designs allow for feathering, to reduce windmilling drag in case of a power loss . And of course, multi-engine propeller airplanes require feathering ability, same reason.
Hi Wayne I really enjoyed your Spitfire build. Shame you had problems with the build. But at least your dad will enjoy it.. other than that take care and stay safe..
In many ways, beside the fact that I have no space for displaying models in my house, this is why I'm reluctant to invest such a large amount of time and money to build these models. While I'm sure the building experience is worth it, if by the end of it the model doesn't meet all expectations, it can feel like a huge waste of resources and I'm sorry this model hasn't been up to standards for you. It sure looked good when it was first announced, and at the time I was hoping you'd also be doing the full diorama with the figures but I'm glad it's done to a point where your dad can enjoy it and you can move on to more interesting projects.
This is definitely a humbling hobby sometimes. And it sucks that this went so horribly wrong. Makes you wonder if they maybe didn't put this thing through full testing before putting it into production. I mean, it worked in parts when you tested them out, but it's different testing individual sections versus the whole thing. Anyway, it still looks nice, and you dud everything you could. Without driving yourself completely mental, you put together a nice model. Your father will love it.
I have only done one part works model. The Shelby Cobra. When that was completed, I could not get the headlights to work. Wayne did try to help me with that problem (thanks buddy). But I could not get them working. Now Wayne has had problems with both the Enterprise build and the Spitfire. If that Spitfire was mine, I would be demanding all my money back. I will not be building another expensive partworks model again for sure. I am building the 1/32 scale Tamiya Spitfire at the moment. Assuming I get it painted well, it will look far better than this thing.
That’s a real shame, Wayne. I feel like this is the problem with subscription builds is that you don’t see problems in ramped up production until it’s out in the wild. Luckily DeAgostini has a couple of R2 runs under their belt, so no problems there as of yet for me. But KITT is coming to the US soon and I’ll be watching both builds with anticipation!
Hi are you going to be building the hachette part works titanic I have followed you all way through the spitfire and would be gr8 to follow you for the titanic cheers
I took the magnet holders out of the side panels for the engine bay and glued the magnets instead, looks a little bit better, but the whole things been a waste of money
This is such a shame. I was tempted to get this as i been a massive lover of the Spitfire for as long as i can remember (52yrs😬) but the total cost of this model put me right off and to see it come to this disgruntled end by many builders is shocking.. Potential was there for a great model, sadly unrealized..
What a shame. I can understand your frustration though, as a previous comment said - we spend a considerable amount of money on these models and expect parts to fit properly and working parts to actually work properly! It has really put me off buying one of these - I'll stick (sorry, pun) to plastic. I do hope your Dad is happy though.
looking at the model behind you in this video, It could be the angle but it looks like the prop is feathered. I didnt think the mk1 spit was fitted wit a feathering propeller? please correct me if i'm wrong?
It's a shame that they waited this long to make a correction to this beautiful model. It's a disappointment too all. I still love this model, and I will continue to follow you as you bring us more great videos.
The biggest thing is in the final stages they are asking us to rectify things. This should have been done before the thing went into production. I do think a lot of companies rely on the prototype and think that is all the testing that needs doing.
The thing that put me off the build to start with, is the fact that there only seems to be one photograph of the particular Spitfire that was chosen. It shows an earlier ‘pole’ radio aerial, internal rear-view mirror, and if you enlarge the photo, what looks like a duck-egg blue or silver port undercarriage door. That’s not to say that this particular aircraft didn’t go in for servicing and upgrading at a later date. I would have preferred a straight build with opening panels on the wing to expose the Browning machine guns. Do you think that the specs for this model were a tad over-ambitious? At least you’ve got a nice model there for your dad.
Hi Wayne as you may recall I phoned hachette about the problems with the spitfire and wanted to send it back but kept getting fobbed off as I had broke certain parts getting wings off and lights ailerons etc I told them to replace all parts required and because the build I would not be paying for yhe final 2 issues anyway I spoke to a nice customer service girl and she was so apologetic she told me not to send any money for the issues so may I suggest other people do the same if you could mention it on your channel
such a shame to hear the issues you have had. I'm only on issue 98 as hachette decided to cancel my subscription as royal mail returned one parcel. no email asking why it was returned or anything. so a little behind. bit confused about the problem with the gears that you said we was told about in issue 93. I haven't seen anything with regards an issue or having to strip anything back. especially to issue 36. not holding up much hope for things working now but at least it will be a nice ish looking model alongside my other builds.
Couldn’t agree with you more Wayne, I have been so disappointed with mine. It is now just a very, very expensive static model. As you say…. Let’s get on with the next one 🤪🤪🤪
Hey Wayne, I believe you said that you removed all videos of the Spitfire from the channel but some of your Spitfire videos still appear on the channel especially the ones you did as live streams. Just thought you ought to know. Take care.
Better luck with the Mitsubishi Zero. BTW Wayne, if I remember correctly you have a 3D printer: you should try to print a figure of yourself in WWII japanese pilot attire to put inside that Zero when finished :-D
I would imagine that the Zero has the exact same underlying mechanics and electronics, which would imply that the same problem will arise. I'd be inclined to abandon the Zero at this point before spending any more money on it.
Hi Wayne. As I said before this model should have come with a mental health warning. the electrics on mine started to work then gradually a number stopped. I used the Power Mod from Partworks Upgrades which does work a treat, it's just the internal stuff that fails on the Hatchette side of things. I have decided to continue with the ground crew parts and have put model railway grass sheets on the base and will turn it into a diorama and use as a static display. It is a shame as it was a costly kit and a let down to be honest. I am sorry now that I didn't go for the Zero as my Agora kits have all been good to date. Anyway thanks for the Spitfire build series and here's to following you with more.
Such a shame that the plane had so many problems. I feel sorry for the people that paid for this model and have all the problems. What ever happened to the Enterprise? Will you give updates on it? Happy days and model on! 😎
Seems with this model they had some quality control and design issues. Wish they could of sorted it before they released, but ho hum. May I suggest - if you can, keep a piece of the smashed base. Stick it to the ceiling lol
I wanted this, until i watch the promo video of it working and even on that you could see the panels not fitting properly , glad i never ordered it :( ,yeah you should have filmed you and the sledge hammer LOL
No. Different electric configuration . It’s completely different. Also we have been testing as we have been building. We didn’t get to do that with the Spitfire
@@WorldofWayneUK That's good to hear as the Spitfire held so much promise and still looks good even with it's inherent issues. It would be devastating for you to have the same happen with the Zero which is looking just as impressive!
Thanks for the video Wayne and we all share the disappointment when it doesn't turn out the way it should especially with the amount of money these models cost . I'm building the Routemaster which is brilliant but I'm also building the Leopard which I can't help feeling may also be disappointing when complete. The Leopard is different to all the other models as it is supposed to be a full working RC model as apposed to a static model with working features. The suspension arms for example should be metal and not plastic as there is far too much flex in them and to have the road wheels running on those plastic axle shafts and held on with self tapping screws is crap. The metal and rubber tracks are brilliant so why spoil it with rubbish wheels and suspension. This Leopard has two other competitors from Tamiya and Hen Long. The Tamiya is a similar price but it has a metal chassis and suspension arms, The Hen Long is half the cost ready built but there are a lot of upgrades to full metal, When we got issue one with that metal turret and tracks I had high hopes but since then I've lost some heart in the build. I hope the gearbox doesn't have plastic gears in it when it comes.
My Italian friend Mario has it sadly+he got made redundant from the same place where i still work. He was 50 at the time/is60now and not far short on retirement
Hello Wayne, the disappointment can be felt in your face and voice. Getting such a disgraceful result after all the work, effort and despite changes is undoubtedly frustrating. But also a shame for the manufacturer. Your reaction is completely understandable (delete playlist) and I will also remove the downloaded videos for this model from my hard drive. I was actually going to order the model, but now I'm refraining from doing so. But none of this should prevent you from continuing to create such fascinating videos in the future. Cheer up and on to the next project, I'll follow you. The main thing is that the whole family stays healthy. In that sense, love and warm greetings from the pensioner from Germany. LG Volker
It really is disgusting how some of these builds end up and people wasting hard-earned money. Plugging and unplugging on my Ecto-1 has caused issues because on one of the tiny plugs doing this has bent the wires (the two prongs) and I can't connect two sets of wires now. I don't know why they tell us to join when we are going to have to separate later on. But back to The Spitfire and it's sad what has happened for the reason you especially were building it. I hope father dad still enjoys what is left of it.
It’s a shame this build has been so flawed ; I had a feeling this wouldn’t end well when I was installing all the delicate springs and cables hey ho too late now
Sorry to hear about the problems your having with the spitfire. Shame really as I know its cost alot of money to complete.so glad I didn't go ahead with this build .
Quite disappointing, Wayne. Just started the Agora Zero. Do you think I'm headed to the same unfortunate end? Anxiously watching your completion of that project.
Its such a shame to see the anti-climax that this build has become. From such a promising start, of which I was disappointed to have missed, to a conclusion that has left me relieved that I never got a chance to start it in the first place. Hachette really need to consider their approach to customer service, that seems to have been woefully lacking! 🤬
Hatchette partworks did this partwork thats hard to believe I though they were one of the better partwork companies ?! But yeah they should be ashamed for screwing up an iconic partwork that is the spitfire they need to send an apology to everyone for them screwing a partwork so far in advance or compensate their customer for hatchette disaster
For the amount of money this costs it is so disappointing when the electrics don't work, You are lucky in some respects giving it to your father, but it's not many people that can do that, the plane itself looks fantastic but the problems are not worth the hassle
I wonder why the prop is in the feathered position, that is very odd and takes away from appearance on static display. I would not purchase this kit, too many issues. I hope the supplier gives you these models at a reduced price since you provide free advertising for them.
Its a shame to see something so expensive but poorly designed. If only Hachette would make models like they used to. The black pearl, Hms Hood and U96 all were brilliant partworks. Sadly I am almost finished with partworks. Far to many problems nowadays. I have Eleanor to do but thats it, when thats done no more. Still watching your videos though Wayne. 👍
As you can be paying over £1000 for these bit part models I feel that this, A bit like the Enterprise, is the company just making money off the public. These models should be made and tested to destruction before being released.
Oh man... that's such a shame... that the quality of the build\parts have let you down like this :( Still, as you say, your dad will enjoy it, and it does look the part.

That’s a real shame Wayne, it was watching your Spitfire build that got me into large scale modelling.
I'm sure your dad will love his spitfire. What put you off this build is all the corrections, if you'd known earlier it would've been fine.
That’s a shame. I could never get my r2d2 to work right
such a shame to hear the issues you have had.
I was sorry I had to stop at issue 10, I'm not anymore.
Hey Wayne, I believe you said that you removed all videos of the Spitfire from the channel but some of your Spitfire videos still appear on the channel especially the ones you did as live streams. Just thought you ought to know. Take care.
I wondered for a long time what happened with the victory. Now I know
Am building the titanic at the moment hope it doesn't go the same way as the spitfire a lot of wires up to now and only on pt 48
I'd be inclined to abandon the Zero at this point before spending any more money on it.
complex models, complex problems - its expensive though for these issues to be present
Gutted for you mate. It had been a fantastic build… until this. Thanks for your efforts, Wayne.
Is the zero kit have the same problems
The zero had way better lifters in the base . Both models require the base to work perfectly for the plane to operate correctly
Heavy dude could of been so good.
Hi Wayne,I missed what happened with H.M.S. Victory

Any idea when you are going to get pack 11 of the zero?
Still waiting for delivery
@@WorldofWayneUK got the tracking number or not yet?
@@gamingwithjacobi8757 No nothing yet
@@WorldofWayneUK ok, shame about your spitfire but at least you have a cool model to give to your dad
Hi is this kit worth buying
Very hard to get this now
Seems with this model they had some quality control and design issues. Wish they could of sorted it before they released, but ho hum.
May I suggest - if you can, keep a piece of the smashed base. Stick it to the ceiling lol
Lol
What happened tot he Victory build? I don't remember a video covering news on that.
vm.tiktok.com/ZMLvaNubH/?k=1
who ever manufactured this needs to compensate their customers as they screwed this up
I wanted this, until i watch the promo video of it working and even on that you could see the panels not fitting properly , glad i never ordered it :( ,yeah you should have filmed you and the sledge hammer LOL
Wayne. Just a thought mate, but is the Zero going to present the same issues down the track I wonder........mmm
I gave up on my build when I received BENT hinges for the tail plane, and they wouldn't send me replacement hinges.
The Tamiya is a similar price but it has a metal chassis and suspension arms, The Hen Long is half the cost ready built but there are a lot of upgrades to full metal,
When we got issue one with that metal turret and tracks I had high hopes but since then I've lost some heart in the build. I hope the gearbox doesn't have plastic gears in it when it comes.
What happened to the Victory then? I assumed it was just taking too long!
Modelspace stopped sending me parts so I couldn't continue
@@WorldofWayneUK ok, thanks.
@@hamilton9479 Same thing happened to his1:4scale Valentino Rossi Yamaha M1 bike build about3or4yrs ago😩
My props slows down during the flight and it stops before it's finished the shut down, I think the prop is to heavy for the motor.

still very polite for a ranting video !! No cussing kinda shocking I bet you was cussing mentally ?
Hello Wayne,
the disappointment can be felt in your face and voice.
Yeah it's just got too many things that can go wrong, I like the static models better.
What ever happened to the model railway you were building specifically when you made a mess of the ballast
I had to get rid of it as my dad needed to convert the Garage as he has Parkinson’s and needed a wet room
It sounds like it made you want to "spitfire!"
No. We have been testing that through the build
For the amount of money this costs it is so disappointing when the electrics don't work, You are lucky in some respects giving it to your father, but it's not many people that can do that, the plane itself looks fantastic but the problems are not worth the hassle
pour moi le plus bel avion de la seconde guerre mondiale, le plus élégant 😎
Its the 2nd one to beat you wayne. The enterprise was the 1st lol
That hasn't beat me. I am doing my own thing with that
I wonder why the prop is in the feathered position, that is very odd and takes away from appearance on static display. I would not purchase this kit, too many issues. I hope the supplier gives you these models at a reduced price since you provide free advertising for them.
The prop can be turned
