    Dumb thing I like about PL that probably nobody else cares about: The fact that even though the weapons change color depending on your color choice, they still look like weapons. Darrius' axe still has metal sheen on its blade, even if the rest of the axe-head matches your color choice. Lots of games have colors that I like, but make my character's weapon looks like a silly Nerf toy.

      Riot's excellent with their skin design. They run into issues with clarity, but I think with how distinctive silhouettes are for this viewpoint compared to League, you will probably run into a lot less of those issues, so skinning should be pretty exciting in this game.

    • @zackrose6261
      @zackrose6261 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@TenjinZekken Clarity is honestly fine. If you can't tell what champions your facing, that is kind of on your for not paying attention to both draft, loading screen, or having champion names over head instead of player names.

    • @TenjinZekken
      @TenjinZekken 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@zackrose6261 It's mostly fine on a general scale, but especially with how useful sweeper is at higher levels, clarity issues that come from ward skin silhouettes being too similar to some of the small champs (especially the coach koma ward skin and other humanoid ward skins), as well as general ambiguity of ability effects (many of which are a bunch of circles that can be told apart in base skin, but much harder when using skins that completely change the color palette), there are definitely issues with clarity. Lux's steel legion skin infamously makes her abilities nearly invisible. Blitz's mac skin is banned competitively due to it almost completely forgoing the big arm in its model, Elementalist Lux being banned for being too variable along with a few others. In a game where quick decision making in teamfights is paramount, a lot of these, while not annoying in normal play, do affect people even in high levels .

A quick short dash ala her E to sideswap during blockstrings and combos. An install level 1 ultimate that reforges her sword and dramatically increases her hitboxes, damage, and even hitstun durations to allow new, wild combo extensions.
      She's just a perfect candidate for the game. I can't see it being long before she's part of it. Riven is just straight up meant to be a fighting game character - and with how beloved she is she'll definitely have a community of dedicated players.

    From what I'm seeing so far, I am very impressed with Project L, and I hope it becomes one of the best fighting games since Killer Instinct. All I can say is that what the game needs is a wide & diverse roster, plenty of offline content such as an arcade mode (with a final boss & endings), survival mode, and maybe a storymode (but told in the style of Arcane) along with alternate costumes.
    My predictions for possible titles could be League of Fighters, Arcane Champions, or Runeterra Legends just to name a few.
    As for who I want to be playable in the game, I want Warwick, Renekton, Volibear, Alistar, Rengar, Wukong, Annie, Blitzcrank, Vel'Koz, Fiddlesticks, Thresh, and Kayle.

    Ok. . . so they are making it more "accessible" by taking out motion inputs but they leave in stuff like wave dashing and micro dashing? Why not just make the "normal" dash the most optimal movement option? I mean. . . doesn't leaving in stuff like wavedashing (which we all know WILL become the only way to move in non-beginner play) kinda defeat the purpose? It's like no one ever stopped to think "Hey if we make it so that the optimal way to simply 'walk' in our game will require labbing won't that defeat the purpose of making it easy to pick up for new players?"
    It's conceptually like Tekken going out of its way to make a Tekken that's "accessible" but still requiring stuff like the Korean backdash as an integral movement option for anything other than low levels of play.
    Does that make sense or is it just me?
    BTW either way is fine for ME (I personally don't care or mind). I'm just trying to figure out the thought process, if there was one.

    • @Brian_F

      The lack of motion inputs do not matter. Casuals will be able to do cool looking moves with 1 button, competitive players will still have tons of depth to optimize and win. The point of the game is not to lower the skill ceiling at all, it's going to be a very difficult game to master

    • @nedthedog4574
      @nedthedog4574 10 месяцев назад +1

      it's accessible and hard in the way that there's sutff to master like wave dashing but at the same time players don't have to worry about complicated motion inputs like zangiefs ult especially on keyboard OR having to worry about getting the wrong input out like DP and fireball which happens more often than not (happened with daigo at evo this year)

      Riot's always done an excellent job balancing accessibility (skill floor) and mastery (skill ceiling), and they know what makes things easier for newbies to get into, while leaving lots of room for growth. Take League vs DotA for instance. Despite a lack of things like turn animations, buybacks, a simplified jungle, a mostly symmetrical map layout, simplified meta, jungle timers, etc etc compared to DotA, it's still a game that at the highest level, people are still continuously one upping and getting better, and where even the best players aren't safe from someone becoming better than them.
      Valorant did the same, removing the necessity for things like lineups to get into the game with a lot of the utility being very easy and fast to put down, yet still maintaining a high execution ceiling with things like util travel time, resource management, and generally tight gunplay and a lot of interesting options that create much more intense executes than you can get in CS.
      LoR simplifies the back and forth nature of MtG combat, while maintaining a lot of the depth of the back and forth of reactionary cards, or interactions during combat. TFT is the only one that is hard to compare, simply because I can't think of another auto battler outside of HS Battlegrounds people still actively play.

All they really need to do is take a good, long look at SF6. And then don't copy but take _inspiration_ from what it does. There's a great deal more going on than simply the characters and some token motion effects for their attacks. That all said, I'm willing to give them props for _actually keeping the characters fully animated at 60fps_ (hitstops notwithstanding). That's more than the otherwise more visually striking DBFZ and Strive manage to do.

      @@Hinokami777 > Really? Camera shake speed ????
      It's because it's emblematic of a flawed design philosophy. As far as camera shake, hitstops and character vibration go, SFV set the standard. SF6 does a decent job too, but it's definitely a step backwards. Tekken 8 has the _exact same problem_ as Project L: Not only is the camera shake at a low frequency but it's *100% vertical,* no matter what the attack was. The z and x axes are completely ignored. The Project L team needs to be told that "adding some camera shake" is a taller order than simply dropping a quick sine wave in. You need to account for frequency, duration, waveform, _direction,_ etc. They have Apologyman advising on fight mechanics and balance; they need somebody advising on the minutiae that most people only acknowledge subconsciously.

      no really, being Riot I don't think they will let the game die, they will do everything possible with skins, cinematics, music and more marketing things so that people say playing it, things in which different F Games companies fail, since they are not live service

    Really unfortunate timing for this game. With SF6 and GBFV out this year, it's hard for me to try and slot in a generic looking tag team game. Considering the roster, seeing such a distinct lack of stylized character design is super disappointing. I hope it does okay, mechanically it seems solid, I'm just too smooth brained to keep paying it any attention with the other options this year alone

      the game doesn't even have a release date yet, I think by the time it comes out it'll have a space for itself. Plus its riot games, so even if like 1% of league players migrate to project L, it'll be the biggest fighting game ever.

      The launch date its for the 2024 bc if in this month they are lauching a close beta and a little servers proof, they haven't time to launch this year. So the next year they have no competence with big fighter games.
